INTRODUCTION
This incredible white water adventure starts, as always, in the Capital, Kathmandu. After arriving, settling in and meeting your guides
and fellow rafters, you’ll be on your way by private minibus to the
put-in point at start your journey down the Sun Kosi. The water highway rises near the Tibetan border, formed by glacial melt-water and
will take you through the middle-east part of Nepal, passing through
gorges, jungle, flat lands and numerous small villages. Each night
you’ll be camping on the banks of the river, with the rapids as your
soundtrack, enjoying complimentary kayaking lessons, football
matches with the locals, or simply unwinding with a few drinks and a
good book. The rapids range from gentle class II all the way to wild
class V. This journey will leave you breathless at times, and constantly in awe of the stunning beauty of the wilderness of Nepal.
As with all our adventures, you will be lead by experienced and
qualified guides, and supported with gear rafts and safety kayaks/
catamarans. You will be provided with life vests, wet suits, helmets
and we are in charge of the food and drinks.
You will be met at the airport in Kathmandu and escorted to your hotel by our staff, and we will make sure you catch your return flight as
well. Read on for the full details.

THE ITINERARY
Day 1 (02/10/2015) - Meet in Kathmandu
As with all of our adventures, we’ll start by meeting you at the airport and accompanying you to your hotel. Once settled in you’ll
have an opportunity to explore Kathmandu, an incredible medieval city, as chaotic as it is magical. Your boat buddies will most
likely all be coming on different flights, so we will arrange an evening get together and trip briefing for everyone once we are all
situated. A nice relaxing start to your adventure.
Day 2 (03/10/2015) - Drive to Damauli and begin our adventure!
Today we’ll get up and have an early breakfast before leaving the
Capital in our private minibus for the 3 hour journey to Damauli.
This is where we will start our adventure! After an early lunch and
a thorough safety briefing we’ll hit the river. A nice gentle start will
take us down some grade 2 rapids, which will allow us to start
working as a team, preparing us for the days ahead. We’ll soon
escape the clutches of civilization and will be in the heart of the
Nepali wilderness. Our day will end well before sunset, giving
you time to try your hand at some line fishing, or a game of football on the beach, before a night around the camp fire with a few
drinks and a barbeque.

Day 3 (04/10/2015) - Starting to wind it up! Big rapids on the
way!
After refueling at breakfast, our second day on the river will introduce us to our first really exciting rapids "No exit" and "Meatgrinder" (grades 3 and 4- respectively), with many smaller rapids
in between. The Tamba Kosi (kosi means river in Nepali) meets
the Sun Kosi just before our campsite, greatly increasing the flow
of water, ready for even more excitement tomorrow. We will finish
a little earlier today, meaning that you will have time to explore
nearby caves after setting up on our beach camp, or take advantage of a free beginners kayaking lesson on the flat water by the
banks of the river. Evenings on the river are really relaxed. Take
advantage of them!
Day 4 (05/10/2015) - In the thick of it! Beautiful wilderness rafting
With more and more rivers flowing into our “highway” the volume
of water really increases today. After paddling past the confluence of the Likhu Kohla we reach the “pre”, “post” and "High Anxiety" rapids. A fun day ends the usual way, with a post-paddle
party on the banks of the river. Those who enjoyed kayaking yesterday can continue their education this afternoon, but everyone
will have one eye on tomorrow, where we get to negotiate the big
one, “Hakapur” rapid!
5
Day 5 (06/10/2105) - Battling the biggest rapids on the river!
We’ll head down the river as usual after our breakfast, but we will
stop at the village before we hit “Hakapur” to stock up on some
snacks for the next few days. We’ll get back into the rafts, only to
jump out a little further down the river in order to scout our nemesis! Depending on the amount of recent rainfall, it might not be
possible to run the rapid due to safety reasons, but if the green
light is given by our guides we’ll be experiencing an adrenaline
rush on a whole new level! Work hard and prepare for one of the
most exciting moments of your life! As soon as you get through
this and relief washes over you (no pun intended) you’ll reach
“Hakapur II”, the evil twin of Hakapur. The day will end at the confluence of the Sun Kosi and the Dudh Kosi (the river running
down from Mount Everest). That’s what you came here for!
Days 6 - 9 (07-10/10/2015) - Carving through the centre of Nepal
Over the next 4 days we’ll work our way further down the river,
stopping each night in the usual fashion. We’ll negotiate many
more rapids, including the famous "Jaws" I, II & III' , "Rhino Rock"
and “Jungle Corridor”, before we finish off with "Rollacoaster".
Here we can have some fun, flipping the boat and getting a soaking should the mood take us,

The last two notable attractions, the "Big Dipper" and "Black Hole"
are the last big rapids on the river and will leave us with incredible memories of this, officially one of the 10 best rivers to raft in
the World (according to National Geographic). On our final take
out point at Chatara it will start to sink in that our adventure of a
lifetime is over, with a small minibus journey to Biratnagar airport
and then on to Kathmandu at the end of day 9.
The evening of day 9 will be back in our hotel in Kathmandu, refreshing ourselves with a hot shower and a few drinks and a
hearty meal, before heading out to the streets of Thamel to celebrate our awesome journey.
Day 10 (11/10/2015) - Back in the city, looking back at an adventure of a lifetime
Today you’ll have the chance to go sightseeing in the Capital, visiting one or two of the many World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu,
as well as shopping for gifts for loved ones back home, before
we get you to the airport for your flight back home. It’s been an
absolute pleasure having you with us.

ABOUT MOUNTAIN QUESTS
Based on the philosophy of ‘Live, Don’t Exist’, Mountain Quests was
set up in April, 2011 by Matt Farr whose passion for mountain climbing led him to Nepal on a regular basis to conquer the majestic
peaks of the Himalayas. After years of successfully putting his climbing skills to the test all over the world, including a two week adventure in the Alps climbing seven mountains in 12 days, Mountain
Quests was born.
With offices in both Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Kathmandu in Nepal, Mountain Quests is in full control of its operations,
logistics, safety and security to offer clients options of both tailormade trips and pre-arranged itineraries.
The essence of every trip is a culturally rich and diverse travel experience that will appeal to people seeking a unique adventure or looking to push physical and emotional boundaries.
The types of trip vary to accommodate different abilities and include
hiking, trekking, expeditions, mountain biking as well as extreme pursuits including survival trips and adventure sports such as bungee
jumping and paragliding. The core destination of Nepal make up the
portfolio with the addition of Northern India planned towards the end
of 2014.
