Huge locker for misc. gear forward starboard. RIG, SAILS, WINCHES, ETC Moana sailing philosophy is to easily manage her from the cockpit. Rigging is thus set up as straight forward as possible and all maneuvers can be carried out by one person. All halyards, reef lines, sheets etc. are led back to the cockpit. Everything is managed from the cockpit so there are no winches on the mast. Further details: - Carbon mast from Axxon composites with Kevlar shrouds and a Harken track with roller beard travellers Aluminum boom Harken winches with one electrical (mainly for the main halyard) at the helm station and one electrical (mainly for furling) in the cockpit Carbon tillers and helming seats Mainsail of 127sqm Incidence hydranet, fully battened with a square top Genoa of 73 sqm Incidence hydranet “Trinquette” of 47sqm Incidence hydranet ORC of 24 sqm Incidence hydranet Two furling gennakers of 2,2oz stormlite, one 145 and one 195 sqm Generally the sails are in very good condition. Top speed under engine is around 10 knots yet the most economic speed is 6 knots with one engine at 1800-2000 rpm (~5l/h). - Diesel capacity is standard with 2x330 liters. There are two independent 12V 80Ah starting batteries (new 2016) 3-blade folding propellers July 1 2016 ELECTRICAL Moana’s philosophy is to rely on renewable energy (wind for propulsion, solar for energy) as much as possible and as such she boasts an above-average 1800 watts of solar, mounted on davits and bimini. In our experience this suffices the boats energy demands (lights, batteries, water maker and occasional laundry) when at anchor or mooring. We really appreciate this solution as it is simple and tranquility is not disturbed by neither genset nor wind generator.
