Harry Rodgers formed the company 1943 as a
source of employment for his son Dawson who was
returning from active duty during the Second World
War whilst stationed in Cairo. The company was
aptly named Dawson Rodgers & Co. Ltd.
What more does a parent yearn for than the best
quality they can buy when choosing products for
their newborn baby and children? “If it’s made in
Britain it should be the best you can buy” says our
Managing Director, John Rodgers. John began
working in the family business back in 1964 for his
Grandfather, Harry Rodgers, who originally formed
the company in 1943.

In 1986, having produced ‘own brand’ to so many
of its customers, John Rodgers decided that the
launch of its own corporate brand was long
overdue and so ‘Clair de Lune’ was born.

mum, Maureen Rodgers.

Since 1986 Clair de Lune continue the family
tradition of producing quality products to the
highest standards of workmanship and employs
around seventy members of staff based in their
south Manchester factory. These members of
staff include John’s wife Polly and son Guy, the
4th generation, keeping the family tradition alive.
With a team of talented British designers, Clair de
Lune are best known for their beautiful bedding
collections, sheets, blankets and moses baskets
all made with love in Britain. John is mindful of the
generations of loyal workforce, who have been
and continue to be the backbone of the company.
“Made in Britain, to me, says quality, and
production from our Manchester factory is, we
believe, second to none,” John explains. “Even in
the day when we competed with other UK
manufacturers, many of whom have slowly slipped
away, we were often complimented by those
valued customers for our quality and the reliability
of our product.”
Clair de Lune have recently invested heavily in
marketing the brand to raise awareness with you,
the consumer. The photography of the product has
been lovingly created with attention to detail
with room sets being carefully planned and
transformed into inspirational images to help you
create your dream nursery.

awards. The Best Baby & Toddler Gear Awards were
given for design, creativity, British made of course

John concludes, “Without all of our loyal customers
out there, our lifeblood, who inspire so much of
what we do, there would be no reason to open
our doors... there would be no Clair de Lune. So,
a very sincere thank you to everyone who has
supported us over the years, we are grateful of

of Clair de Lune. We hope you will continue to

Oxford Changing Bag
The Oxford is a very stylish and practical changing
bag. The bag comes complete with a key clip,
wet bag, changing mattress and several internal
pockets. There is a large pocket to the front outer
and an insulated side pocket for bottles and drinks.
The wipe clean lining is a pretty red polka design in
the black bag and a beautiful floral pattern in sand,
red, plum and slate. It has a large adjustable strap to
wear over the shoulder or across the body and straps
