Braies – jewel in Valle di Braies
Braies is situated in the beautiful side valley Valle di Braies and
is surrounded by the Braies Dolomites. A large part of it belongs
furthermore to the nature park of Fanes-Senes-Braies. The landscape is shaped by the most various karst formations: grooves and crevices, depressions, fissures and Dolomite basins create a diverse
landscape. At the head of the valley the famous lake Lago di Braies
(1494m) and the impressive peak Croda del Becco (2810 m) represent a real highlight. Another must-see is Prato Piazza, a high
plateau of fascinating beauty and stunning views. Our suggestions
for your holiday in Val di Braies: hiking in the nature park Fanes-Senes Braies, cycling or mountain-biking, as well as climbing. During
the winter season Braies offers also a skiing area with two ski-lifts,
which are part of the skiing region Sextner Dolomiten and therefore

What you should know about South Tyrol – interesting facts in 60 seconds
High quality products
Apples
South Tyrol is the biggest concentrated apple cultivation area in
Europe with more than a dozen of different apple varieties
growing here. Thanks to the favourable climate apples from
South Tyrol are rich in taste and have a longer shelf life than
apples cultivated in other regions.
Wine
Sixty percent of South Tyrol‘s wine production is white wine,
forty percent is red wine. Five percent of all awarded Italian wines
are produced in South Tyrol, which is considered the smallest
wine-growing region in Italy.
Milk
In South Tyrol there are as many farms as hotels. Their dairy
products are of organic origin and not genetically modified.
Speck
This typical product has a long history in South Tyrol and was
originally produced by farmers to preserve the meat. Still now
almost every farm has its own production Speck ham.
