23rd Annual HACR Symposium - Hispanic Association on Corporate
2015hacr HISPANIC ASSOCIATION ON CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY 23rd annual hacr symposium: the power of hispanic inclusion HACR.ORG ™ ATLANTA GEORGIA THE RITZ-CARLTON, BUCKHEAD 4.27.15-4.28.15 We’re a big fan of different. At Target, we believe that the most important part of our business is our people. The diverse backgrounds, ethnicities and experiences are what make work fun, interesting and new. We applaud HACR’s dedication to advancing inclusion of Hispanics in corporate America. To learn more about the diverse team at Target, visit Target.com/diversity. © 2015 Target Brands, Inc. I was encouraged, after joining Target last summer, to learn of our close association with HACR. Few organizations have a stronger appreciation for the Power of Hispanic InclusionTM or better embody the workforce, consumer, and community insights we all need to compete and perform optimally in today’s market. Last year, Target completed the most comprehensive strategic review in our company’s history. We are now pursuing a growth strategy with a stated purpose of fulfilling the needs and fueling the potential of our guests. At the heart of this effort are digitally connected families who love to shop and demand great value. Anyone reading this letter can see how that could just as easily be – in fact, is – a description of many of today’s Hispanic consumers. I can’t overstate how important we think it is to win with these shoppers. Certain attributes embedded in Target’s culture make me very optimistic about our ability to succeed. Core to our company beliefs, every bit as influential as innovation or agility or our determination to grow, is our commitment to inclusivity. We know that diversity and inclusion in our shopping experience, merchandise choices, marketing, supplier selection, team building, talent-development processes, executive engagement, and governance are critically important. Instinct, experience, and guest insights all tell us that Target is at its best when we provide a workplace and shopping environment where people feel welcome, at home, and inspired to participate fully. I see this as an achievable ideal, especially when we engage openly in forums like this one with other organizations that are similarly committed to learning and to tomorrows that are brighter and even more inclusive than today. Sincerely, Brian Cornell Chairman and CEO Target Corporation THE POWER OF HISPANIC INCLUSION ™ 3 HACR PRESIDENT & CEO’s MESSAGE HACR stakeholders, friends, and esteemed colleagues, Welcome to Atlanta for HACR’s 23rd Annual Symposium: The Power of Hispanic Inclusion™. So we invented low-fares to help them get there. To us, you’re not 1A or 17B. You’re a person with a name, like Steve. Here, we think everyone deserves to feel special, no matter where you sit or how much you fly. And with all the places we’re going next, we’ll always put you first, because our love of People is still our most powerful fuel. Some say we do things differently. We say, why would we do things any other way? Without a Heart, it’s just a machine. Southwest Airlines® is proud to be the official airline of 2015 HACR Symposium.
