Public Disclosure Notice on Wilberforce University Wilberforce, Ohio Effective: November 5, 2015 Wilberforce University (the University) in Wilberforce, Ohio, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC); it had previously been under a Show-Cause Order. Recent Board Action On November 5, 2015, the Higher Learning Commission removed a Show-Cause Order following an evaluation. In taking this action, the Board considered materials from the Show-Cause evaluation, including but not limited to the Show-Cause Report the University submitted, the Show-Cause Evaluation Visit, and other materials relevant to the evaluation. Next Steps The Board required that the University host a focused evaluation no later than October 2017 focused on financial stability, planning, and consistency of quality in academic programs with a focus on the CLIMB program. The Board required that it host its next comprehensive evaluation for Reaffirmation of Accreditation in the 2019-20 academic year. HLC is a private, nonprofit regional accrediting agency. HLC’s mission is to assure and advance the quality of higher learning.
