By definition, an object is in equilibrium when it is either at rest or moving with constant velocity, i.e., with no CHAPTER 12 acceleration. Young’s modulus is often the same in both cases, but there are exceptions (e.g., bone and concrete). Hooke’s Law (linear) Plastic deformation strain ... up to the elastic limit.
