On October 3rd, the Innis Arts & Culture committee held a contest for Nuit Blanche. We received a lot of great submissions, and are pleased to announce the winners, who will receive prizes and a free print of their photo. Ten other photos were printed and can be seen along with the winners in the Innis Residence Lobby. Michelle Gu won overall with her photo "Serendipity." (Cover) Ivan Kwok was our 1st runner-up with "Do You Have One of These?" Jannie Chien was our 2nd runner-up with "Let's Hope So." Jasmine Denike was our 3rd runner-up with "Million Dollar Rent." Ivan Kwok INNIS COLLEGE STUDENT LIFE NEWS Meet Your Assistant Dean of Student Life: Sarah Burley Please welcome Sarah Burley to our College! Sarah has now been appointed as Assistant Dean, Student Life at Innis College effective November 3rd. Sarah has worked in post-secondary education for over 10 years at the University of Toronto, York University and Georgian College. At the University of Toronto she has worked as Assistant to the Dean, Student Life and Leadership, and has been Acting Dean of Students at both Chestnut Residence and New College. She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, and is currently working on her thesis for a Masters of Education and Graduate Diploma in post-secondary education at York University. Sarah brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our Innis College Office of Student Life, where she will work with our Residence and Senior Student Life Dons, and Committee Chairs. She is looking forward to working with our student leaders of the Innis College Student Society and the Innis Residence Council, and will be providing support and resources for our students. Aside from academia, Sarah lives with her fiancé Scott and her pup Louie. She loves to read, and loves anything chocolate! Come meet Sarah in the Student Life Office! SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH 12:15 PM Meet in the Innis Residence Lobby, 111 St. George Street Join the Arts & Culture Committee in watching Toronto's annual Santa Claus Parade on Sunday, November 16th. We will be walking up to St. George & Bloor at 12:30pm, so meet in the Residence Lobby at 12:15 for snacks and hot drinks! WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH 6:00PM Innis Residence Events Room, 111 St. George Street The Herald is being revived, and we need YOU to help us make the newspaper an important part of Innis life again. This award recognizes contributions to residence life, and an applicant has to demonstrate financial need. To receive the award, the recipients must live in the Innis Residence for the balance of the session in which the award is given. The applicant must also have a meeting with the financial advisor at Innis, Thomas MacKay. To apply for the award, you must fill out this application package no later than NOVEMBER 21ST at 12 noon: uoft.me/taddleapp Students NOT on OSAP must fill out this additional form: uoft.me/grantapp Hand in the application to the Registrar in a sealed envelope.
