The two each visited their counterpart’s jurisdictions and thoroughly enjoyed their commissions. Over the years, they lost touch with each other and both thought the other had probably passed away. Fast forward to General Grand Chapter session in Fort Worth where Lois and Jane were reunited. They have since kept in touch and Lois even traveled to Ohio Grand Chapter while she served as Grand Electa in 2013. The two friends, Smith and Jones as they call themselves, were again having a great time together in 2015 at the 48th GGC Triennial session in Pittsburgh. Submitted by - Andrea Paroni, PGM Idaho Chapter Christmas Parade Float Here it is again!!!!! The famous float from Idaho Chapter #49 made an appearance in the St Maries Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in St. Maries, Idaho. The Christmas edition of our float (yes, the one featured in the last edition of the Eastern Star Journal) is decked out with Christmas lights, a Christmas tree, lighted deer and stars. The Masons of St Maries Lodge #63 added a Masonic emblem and signage to the display as well. Our chief decorator and event coordinator was Donna Reed, Chaplain. She enlisted the help of lots of elves for the decorating, waving and over-all fun of the float. The elves were John Pugh and Greg Reed, members of St Maries Lodge #63; Liz Hughes, WM; John Hughes, WP; Bert Johnson, PGP; Ellen Hinton, PM; Candy Pugh, PM; Lonny Pugh, PP; Kara Abell and Matthew Reed. These brave souls defied the elements to be our proud parade wave-ers, driver and navigator! Eastern Star is truly visible in St Maries, Idaho! Submitted by—Joan Heisch, Associate Matron, Idaho #49 Happy 100 years for Potlatch #48, Potlatch Idaho Potlatch Chapter #48 was honored to have the WGM, Peggy Miller hold her official visit on Saturday, November 28, 2015 during which Potlatch Chapter celebrated 100 years of service in Potlatch, Idaho. It was a busy but fun day at Potlatch Chapter. First me Worthy Matron, Heather Wells orchestrated the event. Not only did she serve as Worthy Matron for the school of instruc on and mee ng, but she also supplied a memory board set up for a endees to contribute fond memories from Potlatch Chapter, Christmas cards for all present to sign to be sent to a Veterans Hospital, and homemade ice cream churned by the WGM Peggy Miller and WGP Rob Troxel. School of instruc on was held at 2:00pm. Potlatch Chapter, with the help of pro-tems from Queen Esther #12 Coeur d'Alene Idaho, Laurel #13 Lewiston Idaho, Lorraine #20 Paye e Idaho, Clover #33 Rathdrum Idaho, Idaho #49 St Maries Idaho and Esther #7 Missoula Montana performed ballo ng and ini a on for the benefit of the WGM. (I may be biased. . .but WM Heather and this corps of officers did an AMAZING job!!!!) Dinner followed at 5:00pm in Princeton Idaho. During the dinner the program consisted of a 100 year history of Potlatch Chapter complete with period costumes. The first costume depicted one of our first ini ates, Emma Waldrop (played by Kara Schmidt) whose pe on was probably one of those read on December 16, 1915 when the first mee ng was called to order by WGP J.R. Collins. There were 12 other pe ons read that evening. Dues at the me were $2.00, but in 1916 each member had to be assessed 75 cents so that the Chapter could meet its expenses. Dues were soon raised to $3.00. Rent in 1920 was $3/month. The history program told us that Potlatch Chapter was instrumental in the ins tu on of Elk River Chapter #70 in Elk River Idaho and Pine Chapter #73 in Bovill. We had one sister who, in the 1940's and 1950's, served 20 consecu ve years as Chaplain and a Brother who, in the 1930's and 1940's, served as Worthy Patron 12 mes in a row. Sister Donna Wells was dressed in Army Air Corps uniform selling war bonds during WWII, and we heard about the collec on of clothing that Potlatch Chapter put together to assist Masonic families in Europe in the 1950's from Sister Minnie Benson. The history told of a fire in 1963 that destroyed the hall in which we met along with all of our paraphernalia. We even had a visit from the hippies of the 1970's and one member in a stylish polyester pant suit. The show concluded with the arrival of an OES ou i ed service dog complete with jacket proudly displaying the Eastern Star logo. (con nued on next page) Speeder, our service dog model, is receiving special instruc ons from WGM Peggy and WGP Rob. We moved back to the Masonic Hall for our mee ng at 7:00. It was a ended by 47 guests including Lucy Miller, GGCCM - Regenera ve Medicine, Don Miller GGCCM - Youth, Yvonne Wilbur PGM, Andy Paroni PGM, Bert Johnson PGP, 11 Grand Officers and many more! Following the mee ng we had birthday cake and homemade ice cream. Happy Birthday, Potlatch Chapter!!! We look forward to the next 100 years! Submi ed by—Joan Heisch, AGC Everything Old is New Again!
