In her latest artistic endeavor, her abstract paintings tell a story based on emotion and intuition. For more information on what to see and do in Daytona Beach, Ormond and New Smyrna Beach Area, pick up a copy of SEE Daytona Beach Insider’s Guide in this hotel or go to www.SEE-DaytonaBeach.com. “Abstracted images tell a greater story than representational ones, and when I move from figurative work to total abstraction, I feel myself letting out a full breath,” said Wild. Where to Swim and Surf During the majority of her artistic career, she created figurative work that gained her notoriety and reward. Swim in the ocean or in pools. Many lakes, rivers and ponds in the area are unsuitable. Ponce Inlet, Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach have separate ordinances regarding surfing. The 125th Anniversary celebrates his entrepreneurship and the architectural highlights of the hotel, which since 1967 has been the centerpiece of Flagler College. Flagler hired New York architects John Carrere and Thomas Hastings early in their careers before their firm won the commission for the New York Public Library. He chose the Spanish Revival style to compliment the city’s history and used the most skilled craftsmen to lay the tile floors and carve elaborate staircases. The celebrated painter George Maynard portrayed Ponce de Leon and Native Americans greeting the Spanish in murals that were later duplicated in the Library of Congress. Louis Comfort Tiffany created 79 stained glass windows for the hotel. Today students can gaze up at windows that cast a golden light over the Dining Hall where guests once dined in Gilded Age splendor. Everyone has a different set of taste buds, so drink the wines you like with the food you like. I nstead of red with meat, white with fish, think about balancing flavors. For example, pair delicately flavored foods with lightbodied wines. A lightly flavored fish calls for a crisp, light white wine. Deeper flavored salmon calls for a flavorful, buttery white wine. Bold, spicy foods require a full-bodied wine that’s slightly sweet and full of flavor. Seasoned dishes like pasta and savory meats are balanced with a rich, robust red wine. “Unique Wine Tasting Like You’ve Never Experienced” “A Shopping Experience Like No Other” HERE IS WHERE YOU WILL DISCOVER THESE AMAZING WINES GALLERIA LOUNGE 1 King St. (next to A1A Ale) World Class Wines 350 Varieties 30 Amazing Wines by the Glass Tantalizing Frozen Wine Cocktails Unique Gifts >Artifacts >Jewelry “Surprise” Wine Event Every Fri. & Sat. They took the necessity of having to dress for hot, humid weather and ran with it. Florida’s “resort casual” has become the fashion of choice. Resort casual style is all about ease! It’s characterized by sundresses, tunics, capris, khakis and chinos, tropical prints, bright colors, sheer fabrics, caftans, boat shoes and flip flops. Speaking of flip flops, did you ever wonder how they became all the rage? Flip flops have been around for six thousand years and were first depicted on Egyptian murals around 4000 BC. They began appearing in America in the 1950s when soldiers brought back Japanese zori (similar to flip flops) as souvenirs. Since then the designs have changed. Flip flops have become a pervasive part of Florida beach style, and you’ll even find them on some high fashion runways! --Dana Whitcomb Scan this QR Code with your phone and start enjoying our site on the go!
