Prior to May 1st, if you need to cancel any week(s) of camp but not camp in its entirety there will be a $100 cancellation fee per child. If you cancel camp in its entirety there will be a $250 cancellation fee per child. 3. Between May 1st and June 12th any full or partial cancellations will be charged a $250 cancellation fee per child. 4. All Camp fees are NON REFUNDABLE after June 12th, including, but not limited to absences, withdrawals and inclement weather. 5. Changes: All camp week changes or camp unit changes must be submitted in writing and are subject to a $20 change fee. Changes are made according to availability in each camp unit. 6. Dismissal: The Camp Director reserves the right to terminate or suspend any camper/LIT or deny his/her participation in any activity including off- campus fieldtrips, if his/her mental condition, conduct, influence or behavior is deemed unsatisfactory and not in the best interest of the camp. NO REFUNDS will be given if a camper/LIT is asked to leave. FLEX SCHEDULING IMPORTANT DATES JCC MEMBERSHIP • JCC Family Members receive registration priority and discounted rates. Call our Membership Office 305.271.9000 x227 for information. • To be considered a JCC Member and receive member rates, you must have a JCC Family Membership or a Single Parent Family Membership for 12 consecutive months (including the months of June, July and August 2015). • THE STATUS OF ALL JCC ACCOUNTS MUST BE CURRENT IN ORDER TO RECEIVE MEMBER BENEFITS. Together they create an environment specifically designed to promote socialization, language development and creativity for our youngest campers. TEENOKE and K’TANIM CAMPERS DO NOT NEED TO BE TOILET TRAINED. CHAVERIM provides a secure and nurturing introduction to camp. An experienced teacher leads each bunk with the assistance of a Jr. Counselor, a CIT (Counselor In Training) and an LIT (Leader in Training). A daily instructional American Red Cross Swim Program is led by fully trained Water Safety Instructors in the in-ground Jr. Olympic size pool. CHAVERIM CAMPERS MUST BE TOILET TRAINED – NO DIAPERS PERMITTED! If a child is not fully toilet trained they will be placed in K’tanim. REGISTRATION INFORMATION • It is strongly recommended that campers attend four consecutive weeks. Twice a week campers have Hobby Hour activities and enjoy field trips twice each session. SABRA provides a supportive and encouraging camp experience that promotes independence and offers new challenges. Hobby Hours are twice a week, field trips once a week and every session there is an optional late night. JR. MACCABI SPORTS CAMP A more challenging, age-appropriate sports experience for the budding athlete. Specialists and counselors lead activities including football, basketball, field games, field hockey, baseball, swimming, gymnastics and martial arts. Through the expanded Hobby Hour elective program, campers have the opportunity to venture into new and exciting territory with advanced specialty activities including ceramics, chess, hip-hop and grossology to name a few. TSOFIM and RISHONIM campers travel twice a week to exciting destinations in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties; meet new challenges, gain independence and have FUN! While at the JCC, campers are encouraged to pursue individual interests through the Hobby Hour program and to participate in scheduled camp activities. Under the guidance of our certified, professional staff, campers participate in a wide variety of sports using the Alper JCC’s outstanding facilities. Campers are grouped according to age and participate in activities with their bunkmates. ROBOTICS Entering 1st – 5th grades / June 15th – June 26th Campers are engaged through science, engineering, technology, creativity, imagination and design, learning to prepare for the future. Campers build their own LEGO robots and then use a computer to program instructions for the robot to accomplish a pre-determined mission. DBP Robotics’ program offers hands-on project-based learning approach to teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) WHAT’S EXCITING IN MACCABI SPORTS CAMP: • Daily instructional American Red Cross Swim Program is led by fully trained Water Safety Instructors in the Jr. Olympic-size pool. • Wiffle Ball • Basketball • Canoeing, Fishing, Pedal Boating • Field trips • Fitness/Cardio-Vascular & Strength Training (6th - 9th grades) • Football • Garage Band Video/Music Production • Hobby Hour (over 40 choices) • Late night (optional each session) • Martial Arts • Rocketry • Soccer program run by Super Soccer Stars • Indoor Cycling (6th - 9th grades) HABIMAH PERFORMING ARTS campers expand their horizons and artistic potential in dance, drama, art and music. Campers are immersed in a high-level, 4-week production schedule filled with rehearsals and set design. At the end of each camp session, a musical performance is held in the magnificent Robert Russell Theater. Habimah campers travel on several field trips throughout the summer and participate in many JCC camp special events, including late nights. In addition to the arts, campers participate in fitness activities, an instructional water games program and an expanded Hobby Hour program including Hip-Hop, cheerleading, skit making, and jazz. NEW TEEN TOUR: GO WEST! 2nd Session • 3 weeks / July 14 – August 4 • 7th – 9th grades JCC TEEN TOUR Partnering with the Katz JCC in Margate, NJ, Our NEW Teen Tour program will take travel to a whole new level with overnights covering the best of the west. Campers will travel in a charter bus, stay at JCCs, college dorms and campsites. This teen Tour will visit amazing cultural and funfilled locations while ‘on the road.’ HABIMAH campers must attend a minimum of a 4 week session of camp. Kinderlach TIKVAH 1 ages 3-5 • Kinderlach TIKVAH 2 ages 5-8 Chai TIKVAH ages 9-12 • Clayton Feig TIKVAH ages 13-21 Must be registered in school in order to participate in camp & must have a current IEP. Entering 9th grade CAMP TIKVAH offers an exceptional camping experience with programs specifically designed for individuals who have cognitive disabilities. A stimulating environment with hands-on activities is created for each camper, with the goal of instilling confidence, developing social and life skills, increasing attention span and improving fine and gross motor abilities. Campers participate in general camp activities on an individual basis, where appropriate. Yearly evaluation required for new and returning campers. INCLUSION PROGRAM High-functioning special needs campers in grades K – 9 have an inclusion counselor to guide them throughout the day and are a part of a general camp bunk. Eligibility screening is required. Fees are the same as Camp Tikvah. Tsofim and Rishonim inclusion campers add $50 per week to camp fee. WHAT’S EXCITING IN TIKVAH: • Arts and crafts • Center time • Cooking • Creative Movement • Field trips • Gymnastics • Indoor games • Judaic activities • Life skills • Music • Nature • Outdoor play • Physical education program • Swimming Early and Late Care are NOT available 10 HADRACHA LITs work with campers 3 days per week, travel on field trips and develop skills in leadership and team building. 80 Community Service hours are awarded for each 4-week session. An interview is required for admission in to the LIT program. Space is VERY limited and camp options are available if not admitted into the LIT program. MADRICH SUPERVISOR JEFF ROSENBERG Entering 10th grade MADRICH CITs assist in camp groups and learn hands on skills as well as knowledge gained in leadership training sessions. A $100 stipend is given and 160 Community Service hours are awarded for each 4week session. An interview is required for admission into the CIT program. Please contact Lene Saeger x 271 to schedule an interview. CIT staff requirement: work 1st session, 2nd session or all 8 weeks. Priority to those who commit to 8 weeks. SUMMER SHLICHIM PROGRAM Every summer JCC day camps bring in specialists and counselors from Israel—Shlichim—to add Israeli culture and tradition to camp. This is an amazing experience for campers, staff and the families who host these individuals. The JCC is looking for families to open their homes to host one of these Shlichim. This is an amazing opportunity to create lifelong friendships and grow closer to Israel. FEE ADJUSTMENT The Dave and Mary Alper JCC attempts to keep fees as low as possible in order to allow community participation in our programs. However, anyone wishing to apply for financial aid must be an Alper JCC Member and submit a fee adjustment application by March 15, 2014 to the Membership Office. All inquiries and applications are kept in the strictest of confidence. • Applications may be obtained by calling 305.271.9000 x262. • Applications are not complete and will not be evaluated without a copy of your 2014 tax return. • Camp deposits must be made in full before applying for financial aid. • Scholarship funds are allocated on a first come, first served basis. • If the fee adjustment awarded is not sufficient and the enrollment is withdrawn, all deposits will be credited to your account, except for a $25 processing fee. FEES • Camp prices and fees are subject to change. • If you took advantage of our Early Bird Registration, you received an additional 5% discount on your Camp Fees! MEDICAL FORMS No camper will be allowed to begin camp without complete medical forms as required by the Department of Children and Families (formerly HRS). These forms include the Student Health Form (HRS-H FORM 3040) and the Florida Certificate of Immunization (HRS 680 PART A). Both of these forms are approved by the Department of Children and Families and available through your pediatrician’s office. ILLNESS / LICE If your child is ill, please exercise good judgment when sending him/her to camp. Children evaluated to be ill by the nurse will be sent home. Regarding head lice, the JCC has a “NIT FREE” policy. If lice or nits are found in your child’s head, he/she will be sent home and will not be permitted to return to camp for 24 hours. Upon the camper’s return, he/she must be checked by the camp nurse. LUNCHES Campers must bring their own lunches daily, clearly marked with the camper’s name. The Alper JCC provides non-dairy drinks and snacks. An optional Kosher lunch program is available for purchase through the Nosh Bar. Further information will be made available before camp begins. EARLY CARE & LATE CARE Early Care: 7:30 – 9am located in ECD Building #2 Late Care: 4 – 6pm • In ECD Building #2 for campers in 1st grade and younger • In Y & A Building #5 for 2nd grade and older. Closes promptly at 6pm. There is an additional fee for this service. Early and Late Care are not available for Tikvah/Inclusion campers. Camp Group Requests Each camper is assigned to a bunk. We make every effort to honor bunk requests. Only two requests will be accepted and they must be reciprocal. The requests must be age appropriate, attending the same camp, and both families, as well as the Camp Director, must agree on each request. All campers including LIT's being dropped off at the JCC before 8:45am or picked up after 4:00pm MUST be enrolled in AM or PM care. No camper will be allowed to roam or be unsupervised before or after camp. 11
