First Reconciliation/First Communion
Parent Meeting
Parents of those in the cluster who will be making their
First Communion next April are invited to a meeting
7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, at St. Joseph
Church Hall. This meeting is for parents who have
children at Gehlen or in the Wednesday night or
Ellendale Religious Education programs. Contact

2nd Collection next weekend to
Support Clergy Education
The education of priests, deacons and seminarians in the Diocese
of Sioux City is heavily funed by an organization called the Saint
Joseph Education Society. Next weekend, a second collection
will be taken up at all Masses to help fun this important organization and promote the education of the clergy of the Diocese of
Sioux City.
Anointing Mass at St. James Parish
Thur. Oct. 30 Soup, sandwich, drink & bars will be
served following Mass. Cards may be played for those
interested. Please join us!
St. James Deceased Members Mass
A Mass for deceased members in the last year will be held
on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 4:30pm. A letter will be sent out to
these families. Any questions, please call Kathy Rollins,

Message from Msgr. Mark...
Thanks to all who have already demonstrated support for
this year's Diocesan Annual Appeal. Our goals are as
follows: Merrill: $4,939; Ellendale: $4,289; Struble: $3,028.
Please use the pledge-form you received in the mail to
make a generous contribution, placing it in the return
envelope and depositing it in our Sunday collection.

Commemoration of All Souls, an opportunity for the faithful
to remember in prayer their deceased relatives and friends.
A Novena of Masses for that intention will be celebrated

Day Remembrance" collection envelope to participate.
Please remember in your prayers the repose of the soul of
Janet Bauerly, 85, of Sartell, Minnesota, formerly a member
of Saint Joseph's of Ellendale. She died on October 16 and
received a Christian burial in our parish cemetery last
Saturday. May she rest in peace.
We welcome into God's family the Church, Grace Caroline
Lehmann, infant daughter of Jacob and Samantha (nee
Schmitz), who received new life in the sacrament of
Baptism last Sunday at Assumption Church in Merrill. May
she grow strong in the Lord!
Yours truly will be attending the "Mercy Gala" in Sioux City
next Saturday evening and so Father Tom Topf will be
taking my place for confessions and Mass at Assumption
Church in Merrill. Please welcome him.

Priest Appreciation Sunday Brunch. Join us after Mass
Sunday, Nov. 2 for in appreciation to Msgr. for all he does

Pioneer Village Christmas Tree Decorating
We will be decorating a Christmas tree at the fair grounds
again this year with baby items to be given to Mary’s
Choice in Sioux City. Items needed are: new or slightly
used baby clothes, bottles, wipes, diapers, bibs, blankets,
etc. Donated items may be placed in the tub in the back of
