Week 7 is all done,
Color War was loads of fun.
Ivy League stepped up to the plate,
With loads of school supplies we did donate.
So now it’s off to week 8,
And I know it’s going to be really great!
Carnival and Farewell are close at hand,
Guaranteed they both will be grand!!!
GRADs
B1 and B2 are having fun,
We can't believe seven weeks are done.
Color War was really great,
Both teams really were first rate!
Mystery Day is coming soon,
We wonder what we're going to do.
One more week is all that's left,
This summer has really been the best!
Justin Schmid
Athletic Director
2011 COLOR WAR
WHITE Captain America edged past
GREEN Lantern to win!
Congratulations to ALL campers for participating in
Color War and showing your best ILDC spirit.
METS PEANUT CONTROLLED DAY
The NY Mets will be having their 2nd Peanut Controlled
Day in the Empire Party Suite 201 for the Mets vs the Cubs
game on Saturday, September 10th at 1:10 P.M. To get
further details, you may go onto the following link:
www.mets.com/peanutfreesuite.
We would like to thank Mr. Sardella, the father of two of our
campers, for bringing this special event to our attention.
CAP Division
Boys & Girls
This week was a blast. Monday was spent slipping,
sliding, and jumping off 22 ft high cliffs, especially Eric at
Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ. Yes, another mountain for
us, but with no rain this time. Samantha and Anne went
for a gondola ride. Tuesday was a powerful day at
Powerhouse Studios. We all enjoyed the zany games &
challenges, but most of all watching campers and
counselors getting pied in the face. After dancing we
watched a video of our favorite moments in camp
presented by Kim B. We saw Harry Potter and Assistant
D.A. Dan Fielding from 'Night Court' in "How to Succeed in
Business" on Wednesday. It's amazing to listen to Daniel
Radcliffe perform without a British accent. All the CAPs
agreed he was amazing. Oh yeah, John Larroquette, the
'other' guy, was funny too. Color War Thursday and Friday
brought sportsmanship (filotimia from our Greek Games)
to a new high as we finished the week celebrating our
friendships while engaged in sport.
The New CAP Fad: The Bee Dance (as witnessed from
Mountain Creek.) At the sight of a single bee, hop around
like a kangaroo backwards in a circle and swipe at your
hair, neck, & shoulders like you have itching powder on it.
The CAPs can’t believe there is only one more week of
ILDC fun.
Mini Day
Frosh 1
The Frosh 1 kids are really sweet,
They're loved by everyone they always meet.
They're truly campers through and through,
Amazing all the things they can do.
They helped make Color War great this year,
They're super competition, but oh so dear.
The kids have grown up so very fast,
Just one more week, we must make it last.
Pre-School Division
Our Pre-School groups are really the best,
This is the truth, we do not jest.
Our kids from American and Tulane,
Learned that competition is their key to fame.
Whether green team or white, they're friendships remain,
And fun in the sun is the name of the game.
Jackson, Penn and UCLA,
Said that the Color War games were fun to play.
From swimming to racing, to taste testing too,
These kids are the champions in all that they do.
So on to Week 8, it's sad, but it's true,
Yet we still have so much fun left to do.
Lower Division
Brown
As week 8 approaches we have had a blast,
Brown can't believe the summer has gone by so fast.
We made a difference by donating school supplies,
On Monday we wore pink for Cancer awareness and Tuesday we
had a big surprise.
Color War is here and we are having so much fun,
Liam, Salvatore, and Ethan enjoyed pool relays while cooling off
from the sun.
Josh, Paul, and Dylan did great in the 50 yard race,
They had great sportsmanship and a really fast pace.
At Go-Carts Charlie and Ryan had a great time,
No one else could keep up with them because they were mighty
fine.
Carson and Jacob were awesome hockey stars,
Our group had fun in the Field House on the rolling racing cars.
We are so sad that the summer is almost done,
We can't wait for 2012 for more BIG LEAGUE FUN!!
Sr. Counselor -Rachel Elfenbein
Jr. Counselors - Robert Cucinelli, Eli Jacobson
LIT - Lawrence Movsik
Middle Division
Tufts
7 weeks of Big League Fun have flown by,
The boys of Tufts are sad to think soon they’ll be saying
goodbye!
Kyle, Adam, Dylan K., and Ryan L. enjoy playing games in the
Arcade,
Tyler and Elias love bringing home projects from Arts and Crafts
that they’ve made.
Hockey is a favorite in the group, especially to Dylan J., Jake St,
and Brody to name a few,
Football is the activity that Ethan and Jake Sh. love to do.
Jordan always helps the counselors, Seth, Ryan, and Matt.
With Teddy the LIT always there with a helping hand, this group
was sure to be a great one, right off the bat.
Upper Division
Vassar
COLOR WAR! The Vassar girls had so much fun competing in
events for their teams! From kickball to basketball, Hannah and
Jordyn have been scoring so many points for their teams! Julie,
Sam, and Angelina used their knowledge to answer trivia
questions for College Bowl. Hailey and Katherine loved playing
Mario Kart in the arcade! Rachel, Zoe, and Juliane loved riding
in the go-carts and racing to the finish line! Color War was a
blast and we can’t believe there is only one more week of camp
left!
Middle Division
BrynMawr
The BrynMawr girls love to play all day long.
We all have so much fun during every activity.
Zoe, Terri and Olivia put on an amazing performance of
“The Little Mermaid”.
Kristina & Rachel love to swim & play games in the pool.
Jessie and Iliana are soccer and hockey stars.
Ashley and Brooke would love to ride on the bumper
boats all day long.
Performing Arts, Weird Science and Ceramics are the
overall favorites of the summer.
Melissa, Lauren, Morgan & Taylor are having a fantastic
summer being the counselors of BrynMawr 2011.
Lower Division
Brandeis
Brandeis is having the best time at camp,
At everything we do, we feel like champs!
We already miss Jake, who left us week 6,
He loves to play soccer and always had high kicks!
Nick P. and Sammy are our Go Cart kings,
While Zach loves zipline- like he's flying with wings!
Ian and Michael are like fish in the pool,
At basketball, Charlie and Jacob rule!
At GaGa, Tyler and Lucas have it all,
While at Newcomb, Cameron and Allan have a ball!
Nick M. and Jason have come a long way at swim this year,
The great swim instructors helped them overcome their fear!
Allison, Ian, Sam, Andrew and Jack,
Had a blast keeping up with this pack!
Whether we are indoors or out in the sun,
ILDC is so much fun for everyone!
