Why are webcam sites so popular? Webcams allow you to watch, as they happen, activities taking place miles
away. They can entertain you, educate you, or simply give you a break in your day. There are so many fascinating
things to watch in the world that the potential uses of webcams are almost limitless. Here are some of the most
popular webcam categories:
Observing Animals
Everyone can agree that kittens are adorable. How about a
website where you can watch them all day? Other animals
you can observe on webcam sites include eagles, sharks,
pandas, and — eek! — cockroaches.
Tracking Paranormal Activity
Some webcams are set up in places where ghosts are rumored
to visit. You might have to watch awhile before you see something, but it may be worth it!
Watching Cities
There’s just something interesting about watching passersby
on a city street, especially if it’s a place you want to visit or
move to someday.
Studying Street Views
Google Maps and Google Earth incorporate panoramic views
of many locations across the globe. Viewing a location before
you go there helps you know when you’re in the right place.

the world.

General Manager
NDTC is strongly committed to supporting the communities in our service area. In
particular, NDTC has a long history of contributing to local programs and projects
that encourage youth and strengthen education partnerships. We view this support as
an excellent investment in the future of our area’s citizens.
NDTC typically participates in and assists with community projects, school activities,
local government, economic development, and some nonprofit activities.
In addition to our annual college scholarship awards, our Dollars in Motion and Denim
Days programs also support many worthy causes in our service area. The 2013 NDTC
Relay For Life Team raised over $10,000 to help find a cure for cancer. Without the help
of employees who give generously of their time and resources, these fundraisers would
not be possible.

Giving back to the communities we serve is an important part of who we are at North Dakota Telephone Company. Not only
do we offer high quality service at an affordable rate, we take pride in bringing employees, businesses, and organizations
together for the improvement of the quality of life.
Here are the highlights of some of the other community projects we’ve helped support in the past year:

We appreciate all that our employees do to help make NDTC, and the rural communities in which we live, a better place.
We also appreciate all of our customers who support these types of programs in their neighborhood.
Changes in ND Law
Planting a tree? Digging a hole for a mailbox? Installing a fence? North Dakota
legislation requires you to call North Dakota One-Call (811) before you dig.
Damaging underground facilities, such as electric, telephone, or gas lines, can
cause injury or even death. By using North Dakota One-Call or 811, the danger is
significantly reduced. One simple call is all you have to make and North Dakota
One-Call will contact the utility line owners for a locate.
Changes in ND law, effective August 1, 2013, are:
• Maximum fines and penalties will increase from $5,000 to $25,000 per occurrence.
• Excavation tickets will be awarded more time to be completed; from 10 calendar days to 21 calendar days.
• Upon the third locate request at the same excavation site where no excavation has occurred, the excavator is responsible
for reasonable costs associated with relocating facilities in that location.
• An underground facility owner shall make all new facilities locatable.
Whether you are planting a tree or installing a fence, make safety the first step in your project. Remember to call

Lifeline and Link-Up Services
Lifeline, a government program, provides eligible customers
with a monthly discount on charges for their primary home
phone line. These discounts can be from $9.25 to $24.50
per month depending on where you live. Only one benefit
is allowed per household and only eligible consumers may
enroll in the program. NDTC telephone service is a Lifelinesupported service.
Link-Up provides qualified subscribers of Tribal lands with a
discount off of the one-time costs associated with initiating
phone service at their principal place of residence.
An individual is eligible if he or she participates in one of the
following programs: Medicaid, Food Stamps, Low Income
Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Temporary
Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental
Security Income (SSI), Federal Public Housing Assistance,
National School Lunch (NSL) Programs’ Free Lunch Program.
Residents of Tribal lands qualify if they participate in any of
the above programs or one of the following: Bureau of Indian
Affairs (BIA) general assistance, Head Start (those meeting
its income-qualifying standards), Temporary Assistance for
Needy Families (TANF), Food Distribution Program on
Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or if income is at or below
135% of the federal poverty guidelines.

monthly phone bill.
