GENERAL
Braehead Farm is an extended farmhouse upgraded to
an exceptionally high standard by the current owners.
Located in a scenic setting by the village of Sandford,
close to the historic market town of Strathaven (3 miles).
It is 8 miles from East Kilbride and about 11 miles from
Lanark, which has a wide range of shops, cafes and
restaurants, supermarket shopping, leisure facilities
and a railway link to Glasgow. The award winning New
Lanark World Heritage Site was recently ranked as one
of the Top 20 Visitor Attractions in Scotland 2014 is also
close by.
There is a newly built primary school in Sandford,
a well-respected secondary school in Strathaven,
and private schooling easily accessible in Glasgow.
Strathaven has a good range of local services including
a leisure centre with swimming pool and a library, along
with thriving coffee shops, a deli, pubs, restaurants
and takeaways which centres around the common
green and Powmillion Burn. Glasgow, (about 27
miles) is very accessible from Sandford using the new
M74 extension. East Kilbride and Hamilton both have
railway stations with regular connections to Glasgow
and beyond. Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports offer
regular scheduled and domestic flights, and are 34 and
49 miles respectively.
There are many interesting walks available in the area
including the Spectacle E’e waterfalls lying in the Avon
Valley. There are a number of golf courses including
an 18-hole course at Strathaven Golf Club (about 4
miles) and the racecourse at Hamilton provides regular
fixtures. Excellent yachting facilities are available at the
marinas at Ardrossan, Troon, Largs and Inverkip.
