Responsible
approach
Responsible Credit Practices
Cetelem applies the principles of responsible credit practices in
its activities. In this sense, it focuses on a quality and highly competitive offer of credit and related services, carefully monitors the
quality of the portfolio of the credit provided, and puts great emphasis on thoroughly informing the clients of all aspects of the
products and services provided.
Social Responsibility
Cetelem is aware that stable and strong companies are characterised by excellent business results as well as socially responsible
activities. Cetelem wants to help where it operates and its charitable activities focus on helping those in need, primarily children.
Business Environment
Cetelem pays close attention to monitoring the market and business
environment where it operates. Since 2004 Cetelem has participated in the implementation of the Cetelem Barometer annual
international study in the Czech Republic, which now benchmarks
consumer behaviour and market developments in thirteen European countries.
6
Market position
Throughout its existence, Cetelem has gradually built a solid position on the Czech consumer credit market. The marked increase
of the volume of the credit provided illustrates the success of the
strategy adopted – to listen to the clients’ wishes and to provide
quality and professional services to them.
Cetelem has issued one million credit cards since the beginning
of its operations in the Czech Republic, including 840,000 in
cooperation with MasterCard. According to Lafferty’s World Card
Intelligence international study, Cetelem is the largest credit card
issuer in the Czech Republic.
Cetelem is the No. 1 non-banking provider of consumer credit
in terms of volume of the credit provided. In 2007 the company
provided credit totalling CZK 11.35 billion, i.e. 27% more than in
the previous year.

Cetelem
worldwide
CETELEM ČR, a.s. is a subsidiary of the French bank Cetelem
S.A., founded in France in 1953. The Cetelem Group has
gradually expanded into 32 countries of the world. It currently
employs 24,000 people worldwide, who provide services to more
than 30 million clients in 295,000 sales points.
Since 1999 the Cetelem finance group has been part of BNP
Paribas, a strong international concern. In 2007 the Cetelem
Group decided to boost its cooperation with UCB, another
member of the BNP Paribas Group focusing on the provision of
mortgage loans.

INSTALMENT
sales
Standard consumer credit provided in the point of sale was the
first product in the company’s offer. Cetelem started providing this
at its business partners’ outlets in June 1997 and the first credit
was for the purchase of furniture at Ikea.
Standard consumer credit, also known as instalment sales, is
intended for the financing of specific consumer goods or services
directly at the point of sale. The clients’ credit applications are
processed within minutes and they can take the purchased goods
right away. Cetelem currently cooperates with more than 4,000
business partners:
■Globus hypermarkets,
■specialist outlets for electrical appliances, consumer
electronics and information technologies (such as Datart,
Euronics, Expert, Astric, Planeo),
■travel agencies (such as Fischer, Exim Tours, NetTravel),
■on-line shops (such as Internet Mall, Alzasoft, KASA.cz,
Obchodní-dům.cz),
■and many others.
10
■“1/10” credit,
■“1% a month” credit,
■free credit,
Annual Percentage Rate of
Charge from 0% (depending
on product type
Credit products:
■deferred repayment loan,
■option credit (the client may repay the entire amount
after a period of time without a surcharge).
11
Credit cards
Credit cards issued by Cetelem can be used by clients for cashless payments at points of sale, cash advances from ATMs,
and the drawing of funds by means of transfer to an account or
sending a cheque.
AURA credit card:
■cashless payments and advances from ATMs anywhere in
the world,
■interest-free period of up to 50 days,
■non-stop access to the credit account,
■option for sending money to a current account or to an address using a money order,
■AURA Club with an offer of discounts and partners’ benefits.
In 2006 Cetelem launched a new generation of credit cards,
the AURA PLUS. They enable clients to obtain credit at partners’
outlets or a small personal loan with a fixed repayment period
and monthly payment amount.
12
Since 1999, Cetelem has also been issuing credit cards in cooperation with various business partners in the form of co-branded (such as Datart) or private (such as Globus) cards. In 2007
Cetelem started issuing co-branded cards in cooperation with
Česká podnikatelská pojišťovna, a.s., Vienna Insurance Group
(ČPP); the cards enable their holders to obtain a 3% discount
when purchasing fuel from all fuel filling stations in the Czech
Republic and abroad.
Beginning from June 2007, Cetelem offers its clients a Virtual
card for secure Internet payments. The client receives a unique
numerical combination on their mobile phone and can use it only
for one specific transaction. The information on the “physical”
AURA card will never appear on the Internet during the transaction. The amount paid will be placed on the client’s AURA card
account.

Cetelem
Personal Loan
Cetelem
ON-LINE Loan
Cetelem Personal Loans represent specific-purpose or nonspecific purpose consumer credit for financing costlier projects.
The clients most often use Cetelem Personal Loans for household
renovation and equipment. Interest in lower, non-specific purpose
loans is increasing as well.
Cetelem was the first on the market to introduce the ON-LINE
Loan, for which clients may apply directly at www.cetelem.cz, in
2005. As with Personal Loans, ON-LINE Loans can be used to
finance larger projects such as the purchase of a flat or another
property, buy a new or used car, or renovate or equip a home.
Thanks to the quick and comfortable processing, Cetelem ONLINE Loans enjoy an ever-increasing popularity among clients.

For maximum comfort, Cetelem enables its clients to process

enabling payments at points of sale, cash advance from ATMs,
and transfer of funds to the client’s account or sending a cheque
to his address. For cashless payments, the C-Card offers an
interest-free period of up to 50 days.

Cetelem prepared special products for financing motor vehicles –
the Autoúvěr and Motoúvěr (Auto-Credit and Moto-Credit), which
it offers to clients directly at points of sale – new and used car
dealers.
Cetelem currently cooperates with more than 500 partners – predominantly used car dealers, and it is constantly expanding the
network. It was the first in the market to offer loans for motorcycle
purchase with parameters common in car financing. In 2007 Cetelem started cooperating with ASKO KC s.r.o. and introduced the
special Kawasaki Credit intended for the financing of Kawasaki
motorcycles and quads.

insuranCe
Along with Cetelem loans, clients may take out loan repayment insurance to cover them in the event
of unfavourable life situations. The clients may choose from two types of insurance: the first includes
insurance against the inability to repay due to sickness, full disability, or death; the second type adds
insurance covering the event of losing one’s job. For the clients who are the holders of any credit cards
issued by Cetelem, the insurance package includes card misuse insurance in case of loss or theft,
which serves as protection from unauthorised transactions made within up to 48 hours before the card’s
stop-listing.
Cetelem was the first in the Czech Republic to extend the option of loan repayment insurance to Personal
and Cetelem ON-LINE Loans to include the client’s partner. The insurance protects the family should
a long-term sickness or even death of one of the partners endanger the family’s income. If the client is
an Aura cardholder, the insurance also covers the potential misuse of the card. Clients aged over 60
or clients of pensionable age below 65 can opt for the SENIOR loan repayment insurance in case of
death. The clients may take out this insurance along with the standard consumer credit and C-Loan.
The insurance cited is provided by POJIŠŤOVNA CARDIF PRO VITA.
In the field of car and motorcycle insurance, Cetelem cooperates with the Kooperativa and UNIQA
insurers. If the clients take out UNIQA’s coverage, they can take advantage of lower deductible limits,
which are favourable primarily for cars worth up to CZK 500,000. The company has prepared a special
bonus for its clients – free windscreen insurance without a limit on the amount of claim, assistance
service, and luggage insurance of up to CZK 5,000 in the event of theft from inside the vehicle.
