Last year, the prize was named « The SPORTEL Illustrated Sport Book Awards - Renaud de Laborderie » in tribute to Mr. Renaud de Laborderie, the Secretary of the Prize, who passed away that year. Participation in 2012 : 76 books - 46 publishers - 10 countries - 25 sports ! In 2013, the Sport book awards is in partnership with: Edited by Electre, branch of Cercle de la Librairie, Livres Hebdo is the first source of inspiration for French-speaking book specialists. The selection of the Jury members is based on three principles: > the aesthetics of an illustrated sports book, > the promotion of sporting values, > the originality of the illustrations presenting the subject and/or sport. The Jury bases its decision on the richness of the book illustration bringing out the emotion aroused by sports. Up to 6,000€ to win! The Jury and partners reward 2 winners: • The Monaco Olympic Committee (MOC) offers a 3,000€ prize money. Each winner receives a glass trophy sculpted by the artist Didier Noisetier • The French National Olympic and Sports Committee (FNOSC) offers a 3,000€ prize money. The Prizes are granted to the author of the winning books. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION Participation to the SPORTEL Illustrated Sport Book Awards is free and open to all publishers (french and foreigner) who have published an illustrated sports book meeting the following conditions: > Date of publication : between October 2012 and October 2013. > Available for sale to the general public. > A minimum of 50% of illustration. > Agreement by the publisher to send two copies of the publication to SPORTELMonaco to be examined by the jury. > Each publisher can submit several publications. He passed away in June 2012. The son of rugby international Marcel de Laborderie, Renaud was a Formula 1 expert and had reported on 600 Grand F O R Prix, which had made him member of the « 500 Club » since 2008. Renaud was awarded a Chevalier of the C O N V E N T I O N Légion d’Honneur S P O R T S 20 I N T E R N A T I O N A L oct T H E 17 3 4 1 1 Renaud was a member of the Organization by Pierre Mazeaud, former french Minister of Sport, for his contribution to sporting journalism. Former Sports editor in chief for the newspaper « Le Parisien », Renaud worked with a great number magazines and was the author of the famous annual « Livre d’Or de la Formule 1 ». In 1998, he initiated the « Prix du Livre SPORTEL » with Prince Alexandre de Merode, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee and George Bertellotti, founder of SPORTEL. The Honorary President of SPORTEL, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, wished to name The SPORTEL Illustrated Sport Book Awards, The SPORTEL Illustrated Sport Book Awards - Renaud de Laborderie in tribute to him.
