more than a stage in your life
Something New
by
Cyndi Hineline, Madame President
If you happen to be among our large numbers
that receive the electronic version of
“Spotlight on FCT,” I know what you’re
thinking…Wow! That’s a LOT of purple!
And what’s with the PINK? I’ll get to that in
a minute.
As happens once in a while, we’ve had a
changing of the guard in more places than
one. By the time that most of you receive this
newsletter, the new Board will have taken
over, and the 2014-2015 Season will be upon
us before you know it! And with new people
comes, you guessed it, change.
We’ve been working toward this for a few
years now. Many of you have noticed our
new logo, and the “freshening up” of the
theatre. We’ve also been actively trying to
get reacquainted with the outside community,
and now attend the Downtown Farmer’s
Market on a regular basis. And many
audience members are taking advantage of our
ability to take credit cards at the Box Office.
You may have also noticed the changes in our
season a little bit, with the addition of a
“Spotlight Show.” While many audience
members and actors find that they want to see
and perform in more modern shows and
expand their theatrical experience, it’s getting
harder for us to find any that do not have what
might be considered “inappropriate” content
to many of our audience members. Like
many other theatres, we have created this
special spot in our season for those shows that

might be considered a little more “adult” than,
something like “The Sound of Music.”
The new “Spotlight Show” is not included on
your Season Ticket, but you may still see it at
a discounted rate if you are a Season Ticket
holder! We just wanted to give our ticket
holders the option of NOT seeing it if they
found the show to not be suitable to their
taste.

Keep an eye out and read every issue of your
newsletter this year because we’re going to
have some splendiferous events for you to
attend and get involved with throughout the
year! The teens are working super hard on
“Shrek the Musical” and I, for one, can’t wait
to see the finished product! We’re also
hoping to fit in another PIAD in August (see
Page 4), and the Teen Theatre Alumni are
celebrating what they are calling their 30th
Official Anniversary (see Page 5).
Because I said I’d get back to it, and I’m
running out of room…this is my first
newsletter (ever)! So please bear with me
while I deal with my own changes – I promise
the next one won’t look quite so garish! I do
hope you enjoy the layout in the meantime,
and I look forward to spending the upcoming
Season with all of you!

Directors Delilah Foos and Jason Kramer
are pleased to announce the upcoming
production of DreamWorks “Shrek the
Musical”. This year, over 35 teens from
Fremont and surrounding areas are
involved in this spectacle.
Based on the well-known DreamWorks
animated film, “Shrek the Musical”
features scenes that will be familiar to
fans of the big green guy, but adds songs
that make it an energetic, entertaining
show.
The directors have asked that we put a
shout out to anyone who happens to have
a free Saturday, as they are in need
of set builders, painters, cleaners,
and just extra hands to help them
pull this fantastic show
together!

year, please still give us your contact
information – we hope that there will
be many more of these events in the

OCTA State
Conference 2014 is
coming to Northwest
Ohio this year! The
OCTA Committee has been working
like busy little beavers and are looking
forward to present “There’s No Place
Like OCTA” at the Holiday Inn French
Quarter in Perrysburg, Ohio over
Labor Day weekend (August 29 –
September 1) this year. The theme is,
you guessed it…OZ! The Call to
Conference is posted on the Box Office
door, if you want to know about all of the
fun events (including an “Ozmazing
Race,” the “Twisted Tech Challenge” and
the first ever “OCTA Drag Race”), the
contests, and, of course - the whole
reason we’re there – the excerpts! FCT
will not have an excerpt there this year,
but it’s a great chance to kick back and
see what other new shows are out there,
and what others are doing with what
might be an old favorite of yours. Save
$10.00 by registering before August 4th!
If you need a registration form, contact
Cyndi Hineline or find them in the Box
