Sending your child off on the first day of school in clothes and shoes that no longer fit—not even a new notebook. With unbrushed teeth and hair overdue for a trim. It is a very real problem for many parents in Brown County. The Back-to-School Store is sponsored once a year by Service League of Green Bay. This program helps 3,000 children living in poverty in Brown County. At the Back-to-School Store, children have a personal shopper who helps them pickout the school supplies they need. They choose pens, pencils, notebooks, backpacks, gym shoes, socks, underwear, a new outfit, toothbrush, and toothpaste. The store also provides each child with a vision and dental screening by health care professionals. The Back-to-School Store provides all the supplies children need to feel empowered to succeed in school, thanks to the generosity of people like you. Volunteer Volunteer opportunities are available with flexible hours You can help with set-up, stocking the racks and bins, registering the children, being a personal shopper to take a child through the store, or assisting with the vision and dental screenings. If you can’t join us during the work day, volunteers are needed to help with store inventory and take-down from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. An integral part of the community for over 80 years, Service League of Green Bay sponsors the Back-to-School Store as one of its many projects to help the physical, educational, and emotional needs of the children of Brown County.
