PRINCIPAL POST
Thank you to the PTO for a wonderful inaugural event
last weekend. The PTO World Market was a huge
success, and it could not have happened without the
help of many volunteers! We need to recognize Susan
Moore and Meredith Turner who led the charge from
the beginning. Thank you! We are looking forward to
marking the calendar for this annual event!
Another thank you to Miss Florimonte and Donna
Jones for their hard word organizing the school
Science Fair this past Tuesday. We are very excited to
bring back this event to the school and begin a new
tradition of excellence. Congratulations to all of the
students that participated. We want to recognize the
top three winners: third place Nakaya Walton 7th grade,
second place Sophia Matacia 7th grade, and first place
Mi’Angel Zanders 8th grade. Congrats to you all!

Raffle Tickets
The annual Raffle Ticket Sale for Summerfest has
begun! Students were given tickets to sell earlier this
week, and will continue to sell tickets until Friday, May
22. Leading up to the final day, we will announce the
top sellers and allow them to be out of uniform the
following Monday! If you need more, stop by the office
and talk to Mrs. Derrick. Thank you for supporting
Summerfest.
Walk-a-thon & Field Day
We are combining these two events into one day. They
will take place on the last Friday of the school year,
May 22. We will need several volunteers to help with
both events. The Walk-a-thon is looking for volunteers to
help out at several "fun stops" along the way where we
will have a little game or refreshments for the walkers.
Anyone who is interested, please contact Jeanne Siegel
via email jeannereilly@cinci.rr.com or at 513-484-8486.
And for Field Day, contact your child’s homeroom teacher!

Worth repeating from last week…
Cell Phones/Social Media/Cyber Bullying
With so many of our students having their own cell
phones and social media accounts, there is always the
danger of them getting involved in a bullying situation
where they could be on either end of intimidation or
threats. Sometimes these situations involve other
students. We want everyone, parents and students, to
be aware of the dangers and consequences that could
stem from this kind of behavior. According to the
Student/Family Handbook and the school and
Archdiocese Acceptable Use Policies, if these
situations have an impact on the school environment,
they must be dealt with by school administrators.
Disciplinary actions will be taken.
We will encourage parents to closely monitor any
social media accounts their children have. If you notice
anything, or your child comes to you with anything that
is threatening or intimidating, please address it at
home immediately! We do like to be informed if there is
a situation outside of school that involves students, but
we encourage parents to take the lead in these
instances. Speak to your child, if necessary, speak to
the parents of other children involved, and of course
do not hesitate to contact law enforcement if you
consider the situation a serious one.
We love your kids and want them to be safe, at school,
at home, and in the electronic world too! Thanks.
With that being said…
App of the Week
Teensafe is just one of many valuable apps parents
can use to monitor their child’s phone usage. We
encourage parents to review several options for
keeping their kids safe on their phones and online.
Your cell phone carrier is also a great place to inquire
about options for monitoring usage.

Annunciation School’s Saint of the Month: Saint
Mark
Our April Saint of the Month is Saint Mark. The Feast
of Saint Mark, Evangelist, is on April 25. He is one of
the four Gospel writers, or “Evangelists.” His Gospel
was the first Gospel written, and is also the shortest of
the four Gospels. Tradition holds he was the first bishop
of Alexandria. His symbol is a winged lion. He is the
patron of notaries, Egypt, and Venice.
Saint Catherine of Siena – 8th Grade Patron Saint
April 29 is the feast (Memorial) of Saint Catherine of
Siena, one of the two patrons saints of our 8th grade
class here at Annunciation Catholic School. She has a
fascinating life story, and was a very influential woman
in the 14th century Church. She is not only a Saint, but
also a Doctor of the Church. She is patroness of Italy
and co-patroness of all of Europe. Learn more about
Saint Catherine at

DIVE IN!
Lydia, a Roger Bacon
freshman, found the
Underwater Hockey
Youth Summer Camp
really fun. “I learned a
lot and I'm really
pumped to play
Underwater Hockey.”
Underwater hockey is an intense sport played on the
bottom of a pool with two teams of six players each.
Players score goals by maneuvering the puck with a
12 inch wooden stick past their opponents. Here is
where fun and uniqueness meet the water!
