Looking around at our beautiful surroundings we have a lot to be grateful The month of April will bring not only 150 artists from across the country (15th Annual Chain of Parks Art Festival), but will also bring back a native son, Chuck Beard. Chuck will be with us for the month of April exhibiting his photographs in his “Art of the Abandoned” exhibit. Also sharing the month will be Ann Kemp and Denise Murphy with “Fusion” their unique blending of photography and hot glass. Late spring brings a very exciting personal event for me. As many of you know, I paint Sumie’, also called Chinese Bamboo Brush Painting. I have been invited to have a solo exhibit of my work in Tianjin, China. I will fly over and will study for at least three days with a Chinese master artist, arranged for by my friend Dong Feng Li whom several of you had the pleasure of participating in his workshop when he was here last year. The entire concept has still not sunk in yet as I have been painting in this media for over 20 years, and where better to be critiqued that at the source! I look forward to spreading the word about LeMoyne while I am there and sharing my experience with everyone when I return. In May, LeMoyne will host the Tallahassee Watercolor Society with their Tri-State competition, a very popular and well attended exhibit. In June, you will experience a solo exhibit by Judith Birtman that promises to be an exciting display of her ceramics. Welcome BrendaAbstein Park & Nancy Adams Mary L. As we look back over the first half century, we celebrate our integral part in the history of Tallahassee and we are enthusiastically embracing being an integral part of the next fifty years. I know you believe, as we do, that art and culture are pivotal in establishing foundations for our community as well as fostering creativity and relationships…true building blocks toward local prosperity and livability. in auction items. We began 2015 with the revival of a LeMoyne signature event, Art & Soul Celebration, with fresh new energy and an exciting theme! Invitations to this auction and entertainment event asked attendees “Who will you be?” Great fun and magic resulted as many came dressed as their favorite artist or art movement. We were greeted and surrounded by living marble statues and sculpture as models captured art masterpieces throughout the event and were entertained by dance and music as we bid upon the finest April 18 and 19 is the event all of you have been waiting for. The 15th Annual Chain of Parks Art Festival offers a full weekend of fine art, musical entertainment, a children’s festival and great food. Please join us! the During the coming year, you will begin to notice many facility enhancements and improvements. In late 2014, a memorial fountain honoring founding member June Strauss was redesigned and implemented creating special and vivid beauty to our front lawn. Soon, new windows and exterior paint will grace our gallery building as well as new landscaping. Located in our back garden, a new kiln house is complete just in time for classes and new air conditioning is being installed in our education building. Happy Spring and many thanks for your continued support! Attire for the event was to “dress like an artist, painting or a movement”. In what was one of the most anticipated social events in the Big Bend, the Art & Soul Celebration had Tallahassee’s own, Gary Yordon, as the Master of Ceremonies. Moreover, Lemoyne had an outstanding selection of fine art available for purchase. The event art included a few treasures from LeMoyne’s collection of work that was donated over the years from the best collections from world renowned artists and patrons, live entertainment, silent auction, art auction, a “pop art” photo booth, costume contest and much more!
