WELCOME
Welcome to Curley Summer Camps! Our goal is to provide fun,
well-supervised educational and recreational activities for our
campers. All of these camps are conducted on the campus of
Archbishop Curley High School. Should you have a question or

About the Campus
Archbishop Curley High School is conveniently located at the corner
of Erdman Avenue and Sinclair Lane in East Baltimore. It is easily
accessible from the neighboring counties as well as the city and is just
minutes away from I-895, I-95, and Route 40. The 33-acre campus
offers a wide array of athletic playing fields, state-of-the-art fitness
center, gymnasium, computer labs, and a fine arts center.

Providing expert soccer instruction without forgetting a summer camp is
supposed to be FUN! This camp has been designed to provide young players
an opportunity to be part of a challenging and fun soccer experience.
Fundamentals, as well as advanced techniques of the game, will be taught on
an individual level. Various forms of group instruction will also be included.
Players considering competing at the high school level will benefit from the
comprehensive training program offered at the Curley Soccer Camp.
*Includes soccer ball, camp t-shirt, awards, and a pizza party.

Infield Camp: Players will receive
on-field and classroom instruction with
the goal of improving all aspects of
infield play. We will focus on footwork,
improving hands, increasing throwing
accuracy and arm strength, and the
mental side of infield play. Players will
learn drills they can continue to utilize
long after the camp is over.
Youth Camp: Players will
receive basic instruction on core
fundamentals with a major focus of
having fun. Players will receive an
introduction to the mental game
of baseball in a relaxed atmosphere.
Each day will conclude with a fun
whiffle ball game.
Prospect Camp: Players will go
through instructional periods as well
as evaluation periods in all phases of
the game: hitting, pitching, catching,
infield play, outfield play, and
running. Our Prospect Camp will
be a great opportunity to learn and
grow as a player, and serve as a great
introduction to pro-style workouts
and the showcase environment.
Hitting Camp: Players will receive
on-field and classroom instruction.
We will spend time utilizing dry
drills, tee work, front toss, and live
batting practice to improve hitting
mechanics and approach. Players
will also learn how to bunt properly.
Players will learn drills that they can
continue to work on long after the
camp is over.

The Archbishop Curley football camp is designed to teach the basic
fundamentals necessary for all positions in order to help players improve and
develop their skill levels. Areas of focus will include, stance, start, blocking,
tackling, and ball and agility skills.
Coach Murphy completed his 19th year as the Head Football Coach at
Archbishop Curley High School. During his 19 years at the helm, Coach Murphy
has an overall record of 122 wins and 78 losses and 5 MIAA “B” Conference
Titles, most recently in 2014 with an undefeated season.

Curley’s summer camp in rugby skills and sevens is ideal for the young athlete
looking to learn more about one of the fastest growing sports in the United
States, and for the experienced player looking to improve. Whether you are
new to the game or experienced, you will enjoy the fun, fitness, strategy,
competition, and camaraderie that rugby offers. Individualized instruction
from experienced staff will help participants to play better and lead better on
the rugby pitch, both as an individual and as part of a team. Come out and
catch, pass, ruck, and run your way to fitness and fun this summer!

This program is designed to assist campers to become all-around physically
fit, not only in terms of weighted exercises, but also in the realm of nonweighted exercises. Comprehending the idea that fitness is not defined by
lifting weights or cardiovascular exercises, campers will become aware of
how fitness is a combination of the two. Putting the major focus on keeping
active, campers will be moving, playing games, and completing competitive
workouts throughout the week of camp. Through the use of presentation and
discussion, campers will also become aware of the differentiated workouts
they can complete at home without ever stepping foot in a gym.

Players will learn skills and fundamentals of basketball, while getting
instruction from the Curley Basketball staff and players. Players will also
play a variety of games, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5, which will help increase their
knowledge of the game. Players will need to provide lunch; all participants
will receive a Curley basketball camp t-shirt as well as a chance for other
prizes. Don’t miss out on your child’s learning and enjoying the game of

Brian Hubbard grew up in Northeast Baltimore and is an alumnus of Curley
High School. Brian played college basketball at Stevenson University, where he
was a two-time MVP. Brian currently works for Living Classrooms as an Athletic
Coordinator at their Patterson Park site. In his free time, when he is not involved
in his two favorite passions basketball and working with kids, Brian loves
spending time with his family and friends. “I am thankful to be a coach at Curley
and excited about the future of our Basketball Program.”

Campus visits and the College Essay are two integral parts of the college
application process. The College Exploration Camp will allow students to
visit five campuses. Additionally, students will come away with a polished
college essay. There will also be resources shared with students in order for
them to understand how to do effective research when it comes to deciding
where to apply.
Exploring Art ($150)

Campers will explore some of the materials and techniques of art making
including drawing, painting and sculpture. Projects are designed to pursue
each camper’s unique personal interests to create interesting works of art that
focus on fun. Materials are included in the registration fee.
Mark Halcott, the Camp Director, graduated from Archbishop Curley in 1997
and earned a bachelor’s degree from Stevenson University in interdisciplinary
studies with a dual focus on Art and English. Mark received his master’s degree in
art education from MICA in 2011 and currently teaches the full art curriculum
at Archbishop Curley.
Girl Talk ($125)
Dates: June 20th - June 24th

Girl Talk is a program designed to help girls discover who they are. Through
an assortment of individual and group activities, they will learn more about
themselves during a time in their lives when they are physically, mentally,
and spiritually growing. Friendships will blossom and self-confidence will
be gained as the girls realize that others share the same concerns about life’s
challenges.
Activities:
The many activities that are included in camp are Cheerleading, Skin/ Hair/
Nail Care, Jewelry Design, Arts & Crafts, Make-up Tips, Cake & Chocolate
Creations, Painting, Dance, Morning Prayer & Journaling, Fashion and
Talent Show, and lots more!!!
Teresa holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Maryland,
Baltimore County in psychology and an associates degree in physical fitness
technology from Dundalk Community College. She has taught physical education
at St. Clare School to grades K – 8 and is currently an instructional assistant at
St. Joseph Fullerton School.

The program is carefully designed to prepare students for the academic
challenges they face in high school and college. The course is taught by a
certified, experienced classroom teacher who, through the use of the small
classroom size and student-tailored activities, helps students discover their
learning style and improve academic performance. The curriculum will focus
on areas such as:
• Organizational Skills • Improving Concentration & Memory
• Time Management Strategies • Study Skills Inventory
• Improving Test Performance • Note-taking & In-Class Skills
• Motivation
• Improving Reading Comprehension
As a result of the course, students will learn essential study skills for use
during the school year and beyond.
Robotics Camp ($500)

6th grade prior to camp
Using the VEX robotics system small engineering team participants will
explore the process of brainstorming, collaborating, building and testing a
working robot. Your team’s bot will have to adapt to compete in daily userpiloted challenges. The week will end in a demonstration match that parents
will be invited to attend. Camp is designed for all skill levels.
