Virginia Tech Services, Inc. is an affiliated corporation
of Virginia Tech chartered by the Board of Visitors in
1968 as an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation
to operate Virginia Tech’s official on- and off-campus
bookstores.
Since the beginning we have carried everything
Virginia Tech students need to succeed for college, and
in 2016 we are still the experts in Virginia Tech academic
and spirit merchandise for students, faculty, staff, alumni,
families, and friends.
Virginia Tech Services, Inc. stores are fully selfsupporting. We receive no state funding, and all of our
surplus funds stay right here at Virginia Tech.
These surplus funds help hold down student fees and
support student and campus initiatives designated by the
Board of Visitors and Senior Campus Leaders.
Since 1968 we have submitted surplus funds to Virginia
Tech valued at more than $46,000,000.
No other store, no other website, no other retailer
performs our mission or provides our level of service.
No one else does what we do.

Software Requirement for Incoming Undergraduates
All incoming undergraduate students are required to purchase a Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions Software Bundle. This
requirement will ensure that all undergraduate students have access to the latest versions of Office and the operating system. The
bundle provides you with upgrades for this software as long as you remain an undergraduate at Virginia Tech.
The Undergraduate Software Bundle is available only through the Virginia Tech Student Software Distribution Office located at 3240
Torgersen Hall. For more information contact Student Software Sales at studentsoftware@vt.edu or 540-231-3969. If you purchase a new computer, it will probably have Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 so you might be wondering why you need to purchase
the Operating System again. Bundle purchases receive Operating System and Office Suite upgrades when they become available, at
no additional charge.
Additionally, support for these applications is streamlined as technicians refine support programs. Students will gain access to Office
365 Pro Plus during summer orientation. Access to the operating system will be available beginning August 17th, 2016.
Programmatic software for students majoring in Architecture, Building Construction, Business, Engineering, and Landscape Architecture
will be available for distribution beginning August 17th, 2016. All further information can be found at Student Software Distribution
and online at http://www.compreq.vt.edu/Get_Ready/purchase.html#software.

How to Purchase a Computer
1
2
3
Choose your purchasing channel:
• By phone at: Computer Order Center (540) 315-1991 or (844) 884-6543 or (844) VT-HOKIE
Monday through Saturday 10:00am to 6:00pm
Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
• Online at www.bookstore.vt.edu, click the Computers tab.
• In-store at: University Bookstore (540) 231-5991, or (800) 392-2756
Hokie Centric (540) 231-6114
Volume Two Bookstore (540) 231-9674, ext. 133
Choose a payment option that fits your needs:
• Pay in full at time of purchase, through any purchasing channel listed above.
• Reserve your computer order with a $200 deposit for a future in-store pickup, at which time you
pay the remainder balance due.
• Balance your purchase cost affordably with our Technology Payment Plans. You would:
- Pay for fall semester with half the sale price plus a $100 administrative fee at the time
of pickup (minus the $200 if you paid a previous deposit.)
- Pay the spring semester with half the sale price plus a $100 administrative fee by the contract
due date during December exam week.
Choose a pickup or delivery schedule that works with your expectations:
As New Student Orientation is July 11-28, here are some considerations to help you make a plan for success:
• To receive your computer before New Student Orientation,
place your order from April through June 20.
• To pick-up your computer at the store while attending New Student Orientation,
place your order from April up to June 20.
• Units available to purchase or order during Orientation
• To receive your computer after New Student Orientation at home, prior to arriving for Fall Move-In,
place your order no later than July 24.
• To pick-up your computer at the Distribution Site at War Memorial Gym on August 17-19,
place your order no later than August 8.
(Please note that ordering this close to move-in, in-stock quantities may be limited.)
We will contact you should delays occur that would cause a change to your desired date.
Please note the following:
• The earlier you place your order, the better! (Just a $200 deposit can get you that far).
• Purchase your units any time before, during, and after Orientation.
• From August 17-19, in-store pickup is relocated to War Memorial Gym
to handle heavy foot traffic. For all other times, you can choose a store
you would like to pick-up from (see options in step #1 above).
• You can email questions or comments to computers@bookstore.vt.edu
and expect a prompt response. Please remember to include a name
and phone number.

We order new textbooks for all classes so students can shop with confidence before the semester starts.
Textbook Reservations
Are you interested in saving time and money? Reserving your books will give you the first chance to get used books at up to 25%
off the price of new books.
We offer the following options.
• Purchase your books and supplies during orientation, as we will have some books ready as early as July.
• Reserve your books during the summer or at orientation and you won’t have to pack them or pay for them until
Fall semester move-in. They will be boxed and ready for you to pick up, and pay for, when you return
to move in for fall semester in August.
Do you know how to place textbook reservations?
Simply stop by University Bookstore on-campus, Volume Two Bookstore off-campus, or Hokie Centric on-campus after you get your
class schedule during orientation. You can fill out a reservation form while you are at our stores or you can place your reservation
online at www.bookstore.vt.edu starting July 1, 2016. Simply click on Reserve Your Textbooks and follow the instructions.
PLUS WE HAVE A CUSTOMER FRIENDLY TEXTBOOK RETURN POLICY!

Pay Online
Pay Online and choose from In-Store Pickup or Home Delivery right to your door!
If you would prefer to pay for your books online immediately instead of reserving them we now offer a great new program that allows
the following options.
After you get your class schedule you can go to www.bookstore.vt.edu and choose to Order your books instead of reserving
them. This option allows you to have books shipped right to your home. You will be billed as soon as we process your order instead
of going through our reservation program. You can choose from two great delivery options:
1
2
Shipment to you at an address of your choosing, with full payment.
In-store pickup. You pay for your order immediately but instead of having it shipped to your home, you can choose
to pick it up in one of our stores.
• University Bookstore On-Campus, beside Newman Library.
• Volume Two Bookstore Off-Campus, in town at University Mall.
• Hokie Centric, On-Campus, at the North End Center, on Gilbert Street.
What’s the difference between our Textbook Reservation program and our Pay Online program?
Reservations allow you to simply give us your schedule and we will have them all ready in a box just for you. They will be held at our
stores for you to pick them up at Fall Move-In. You will not be required to pay for your books until you pick them up. The advantage
is that you only need to share your class schedule and we save you one extra step of shopping for individual books and waiting
unnecessarily in lines. Just come to our convenient textbook reservation pick up area.
Our Pay Online Program works more like mail order. You choose exactly which books you wish to order and pay online. You can
choose to have your order shipped to you or you can choose to pick it up in one of our stores. When you pick up your mail order
it will already have been paid for.
In-Store Rentals
We now offer a large selection of titles that can be rented for a semester instead of buying them outright. This can save you up to
70%. To participate in this program all you have to do is shop at University Bookstore on-campus or Volume Two Bookstore offcampus. Whenever you bring a book to our cash registers, our point of sale system will automatically check to see if it is available
as a rental. If it is, our staff will immediately give you the option to choose whether you wish to buy the book or whether you wish to
rent it. If you wish to rent the book you will sign an agreement that says you will return the book to us by the last day of the semester.
You will also need to provide us a valid credit card that will be used to secure the rental and agree that if you do not return the book
to us by the deadline we have the right to bill your credit card the remaining value of the book, plus a late fee. It’s that simple and
by renting you can save up to 70% off the new price of the book.
Textbook Buyback
If you choose to buy your books instead of renting, you can recover money at the end of the semester by selling the books you no
longer need for cash, and get up to half of your purchase price back.
It’s easy. Simply bring your books to one of our stores when you are finished with them and we can buy them. We buy books every day.
No gimmicks and no paperwork. Just bring your books to University Bookstore on-campus or Volume Two Bookstore offcampus and tell us you want to sell them.
• Get up to half your purchase price back in cash.
• Special premium prices for books are offered near the end of each semester, even though we buy books every day.
• Receipt and location of purchase are irrelevant. Just bring the book you want us to buy back for cash.
• Sell your books back to us to help save the environment and your wallet.
Benefit future students by helping us provide used books during future semesters.
