MAINSHEET Good Times, Good Friends, Good Seas! LPYC Corinthians Our 48th Year Number 6 Past Commodores’ Ball: Hollywood Style! 48th year NUMBER 6 May 2015 1 Commodore’s Report: By Cal Parent Well, here we are, rapidly approaching the hot summer months and it seems like only yesterday that my Commodore's flag was hoisted and now I am just about half way through my year as your Commodore. A special thank you to Lucy Feit as Chairperson of our "Past Commodores’ Ball". There is a lot of work that goes into this event and as usual, Lucy, you did it flawlessly. Thank you. Also, Terry Weiss, as usual, has stepped forward for another difficult task and taken inventory and organized our warehouse, again. Terry, what would we do without you? Thank you! Linda and I, along with many of you, will be heading north shortly. However, we will be returning mid May for the Sailfish Marina Cruise and also again in June for the Bimini Cruise. We may not see a lot of you until next fall so have a great summer and remember, wherever you are, make each day "Another Day in Paradise"! Fleet Captain’s Report: By Al Tupek We cruise to Sailfish Marina on Singer Island from May 15-17. Michael Baron is arranging a tennis round robin on Saturday. Thank you Michael. We’ll explore Peanut Island on Saturday afternoon and have a picnic. We’ll have a group dinner at the Sailfish Marina restaurant on Friday and a Pig Roast at the Islander Grill and Tike Bar on Saturday. Drive ups are welcomed and encouraged. Ten boats are signed up for Sailfish as of this writing. We also have ten boats signed up for our June 18-23 trip to the Big Game Marina on Bimini. A big thanks to Neal Mitchell for arranging the Bimini trip. Our cruise to Anglers Club in Key Largo was a big success. Millie Moyer arranged for us to have a wonderful time there. Thank you Millie. Visit our website (www.lpyccorinthians.com) for more information on our cruises. Rear Commodore’s Report: By Leslie Baron Greetings. It was a beautiful evening for the Past Commodores’ Ball and the event was enjoyed by all those who attended. A special thanks to Lucy Feit and Jack Holman for hosting the ball and to their decorating committee for making the room a special tribute to our very own Hall the Famers, the 14 Past Commodores and/or their ladies who honored us with their presence. Our Spring Membership Meeting and dinner party had an interesting theme, it was a BlackTie Barbeque! It was our first time ever hosting anything like this and it was a lot of fun. The evening was hosted by Rick and Kathy Hall, Connie Johnson and Mike Miller. They made it an evening of fun and surprises. A good time was had by all. 2 May 2015 48h year NUMBER 6 Membership Report: Al Smith As of now, we do not have any prospective new members. However, we are still hoping for new members, even though the high-season is ending. Any Corinthian having knowledge of someone interested in joining our wonderful club, feel free to give them a blue prospective member folder that can be found in the Corinthian bulletin box at the entrance to the hallway. The small group gave us a chance to talk about possible upcoming events and some things we need to plan for the future. Our next meeting will be May 12 at the LPYRC. There is a District 8 Spring Meeting May 2930 at the Dunedin Boat Club in Dunedin, Fl. The mission of the International Order of the Blue Gavel (IOBG) is to recognize Past Commodores of the international yachting community and unite them to promote the highest ideals of yachting and preserve their traditions.
