In the Hommiya (Main day) on the 25th, the Rikutogyo starts from the shrine at about 15:30, and finishes in the shrine again through the Funatogyo. The festival reaches climax during that passage. The Tenjin Matsuri festival with approx. 4,000 fireworks set off in the summer night sky. In this ritual, nagoshime women and children in costumes of the Muromachi period (14-16th century) go through a large ring made of thatch. Visitors can also participate in this ritual to wish for good health. On July 19, the event "Minoh Candle Road 2014" will be held, in which some 6,000 candles will beautifully illuminate the Minoh Waterfall, Minoh Park, and the road leading to the waterfall. The Makura Daiko falls right and left, while worshippers wearing red caps beat their drums in unison. July 24(Thu)‒ 25(Fri) DAIGAKU FESTIVAL The "Daigaku", the only one existing in the city, is made of 79 lanterns hung from arms standing on a pole. A mid-size Daigaku is carried in the park. The festival boasts over 270 years of history. A charming summer festival held in the entertainment quarter of Minami. Events include the final round of the Miss Soemon-cho Contest the winner of which will be the symbol of Soemon-cho; an outside live stage; and a Kamigata traditional art performance. An elaborate stage and outside beer-hall are joined by special stalls of the famous shops of Soemon-cho. KONGO Terakata Chochin odori (Bon dance) is a folk entertainment of Kyu(old)-minamiterakata area of Moriguchi city, which started in Edo era. It is particular that people hold a lantern and dance with the musical accompaniment that uses the Japanese drum with the Kawachi ondo (Eastern Osaka style bon dance) music. This bon dance was nominated as a city's intangible folk cultural assets in 2000. Many events especially for families such as having Nagashi somen (fine white noodles served flowing in a small flume) and making taketombo (small wooden Japanese toy that flies when spun between the palms of the hands). The tunnel will be 25m long and the Milky Way made with brilliant LEDs. If you walk through the bamboo tunnel decorated with tanzaku (colorful strips of paper on which people write their wishes), your wish might be heard by the stars.
