Growing up in small-town Texas in the 50s was a blast.
I remember when we bought our first TV and transistor
radio. Our family would eat late each workday because
my Dad was the local Ford dealer. He would get home
about 7:00 and my wonderful mother would prepare a
great meal. We would all sit around the dinner table and
enjoy her favorite recipes before watching one of three
channels on the black-and-white screen. Many nights
during the summer I would listen to the Houston Colt
45s on the radio and chart their progress in my score
book. My love for baseball has never waned!
My Mom was a housewife and her duties were many,
not to mention keeping up with four kids. She made

sure we were everywhere we needed to be, kept
the house in immaculate shape, and managed
the family social schedule. Mom and Dad had
a large group of friends. At least three nights
per week we had another family or two visit
our house or we traveled to theirs. The kids
would play while the adults would talk about
local and national news or plan their next
outing. Remember this was the 50s so adult
beverages and cigarettes were usually part of
the scene. On Saturdays our house was the
place to be as Mom fixed hamburgers for our
family and all of our friends. I can remember
having a half dozen friends joining us for
lunch almost every Saturday.

my parents spent on community involvement.
Dad was a member of the Texas City Rotary
Club most of his adult life. Mom always enjoyed the Rotary Anns group that
involved the wives of the Rotary members. Back in the 50s Rotary was an all-male
organization. Most of Dad’s very best friends were Rotary members. He loved
the comradery in the club and invited me to several meetings each year. Their
fundraising activities benefited local projects and charities.
One year Dad decided to run for city commissioner. I remember there being a
large group running for the one open position. He did not win but had a very strong
showing. All of the siblings were disappointed in the loss but were very proud of
the way he conducted his campaign. I thought he would be deflated but it never
appeared to bother him. I think it upset me more than him.

has received the Rotary Club of Friendswood Roll
of Fame Award. A past president of the club,
Rasmussen is also incoming president of the
Friendswood ISD Education Foundation, a past
Chamber of Commerce chairman, member of the
city’s Investment Committee and youth soccer and
Little League baseball coach. HomeTown Bank

Bill Provenzano presented the award.
Looking back to my childhood, many aspects of small-town life have not changed.
I often think of my Dad’s business acumen and his desire to make his community
a better place. Over the past few weeks our bank has been running newspaper ads
to congratulate our HomeTown leaders who serve their communities. We have
Rotary and Lion’s club presidents, chamber of commerce board members, and an
elected school board official. Our bankers are also very active in church groups,
youth sports, and local school foundations across our market footprint.
As I talk to community bankers across the state of Texas and throughout the
country, community involvement is what they do! Our business model is based
on relationships, and active participation in local clubs and events is a great way
to get to know your customer and serve your community. Looking back, my Dad
would have been a great community banker. Unfortunately, he has been gone for
46 years, but his legacy lives on.

Familiar Faces in New Places
Bill Provenzano
Diana Ramos
Bill Provenzano has been promoted to Senior Vice President
and manager of our League City branch. Formerly Vice
President at our Downtown Friendswood branch, Provenzano
joined HomeTown Bank in 2011 and has 30 years of combined
financial, investment and banking sales and service experience.
A member of Friendswood’s Economic Development Committee,
Provenzano is also the outgoing president of the Rotary Club
of Friendswood.
“I’m looking forward to working in the fine community of League
City,” Provenzano said, “and with the many business leaders,
customers and friends I know in the area.”
Vice President Diana Ramos is the new Loan Officer at our
Alvin office. She began her HomeTown Bank career as a
teller in 2001, moved to the Loan Department in 2004, was
named Assistant Vice President in 2009 and promoted to
Vice President in 2013.
Anthony Cristelli has been promoted to Assistant Vice
President and Loan Officer at our Seawall Branch. A member
of the HomeTown Team since 2013, Cristelli has participated
in a management training program that included working with
tellers, the new account department and loan department.

Susan O’Quinn Celebrates 10 Years
Vice President Susan O’Quinn is celebrating her 10th anniversary
with HomeTown Bank. Susan joined the HomeTown Team in
League City in 2005 as Assistant Vice President, was promoted to
Vice President in 2009, became Assistant Branch Manager in 2010
and started in her current position in the Lending Department and
as Insurance/Tax Department manager last spring.
A lifelong League City resident, she is a graduate of Clear Creek
High School and has been active in supporting her children’s school
and sports organizations in the community.
