S
ince Glee bounded excitedly on to our screens in 2009,
we’ve been singing and dancing along with the joyous
cast, and have loved every second. So when we woke up
on the morning of 14 July, we were shocked and saddened
to hear the news that one our favourite Gleeks, Cory Monteith
(Finn Hudson), had been found dead in his hotel room in
Vancouver. Since the tragic news broke, we’ve been moved by
the many tributes sent to the much-loved star, and have been
thinking about his family, friends and co-star and long-term
girlfriend Lea Michele. For the past four years, Cory’s been
an inspiration on and off-screen; not only is his character Finn
an upstanding and super-talented guy, but Cory also battled
his demons head-on behind the camera (see p11). RIP, Cory.

BUCKET
Justin Bieber’s bad behaviour has

h d new lilimits! The bad boy came under fire
when he and his friends were leaving a nightclub
through a restaurant’s kitchen, and he decided to
stop and take a leak in their cleaning bucket. Eeuw!
Justin — who was caught in the act on camera — was
egged-on by his friends who said they’ll remember
the moment forever and that the restaurant should
be honoured that Bieber made a wee in their cleaning
bucket. On his way out, Justin then sprayed liquid
detergent on a picture of Bill Clinton while saying,
“F**k Bill Clinton.” Justin later apologised on
Twitter for his behaviour, tweeting, “In life u
will make mistakes and people will try and tear
u down… but u gotta stay positive. Stay strong… and
learn to be better… and… always live to serve others
and The Lord. #growingeveryday.” Justin, maybe it’s
time to stop doing things you have to apologise for…

DIANA POSTER
REVEALED
As we wait for the release of the biopic
Diana, the poster for the film has finally
come out, and we can’t
believe how beautiful Naomi Watts looks
in her role as Princess Diana. In order
to portray the People’s Princess
as accurately as possible, Naomi
apparently had to wear a prosthetic
nose. She also underwent six weeks
of training with a dialogue coach and
got to see Diana’s actual wardrobe
in preparation for the film. We cannot
wait to see the film, due out 18 October.

pleased that Kevin Jonas
and his wife Danielle are
finally expecting their first
child. Kevin has said he
longs to have a daughter,
explaining, “There’s already
too much testosterone in his
family. I would love to see a
girl in the midst of all these
boys. But then again, at the
end of the day, if it’s a boy —
oh man, we’re starting
trouble.” Who knows, maybe
they’ll be able to add to the
band à la Mumford & Sons…

France last weekend. The

Château des Condé and

JOOST GONE VIRAL
A disturbing cartoon showing Joost
van der Westhuizen in a wheelchair
next to a naked Jesus has gone viral.
The cartoon — published in Sondag
— also shows an angel standing next
to Joost, inviting the frail rugby hero
to have sex when he gets to Heaven.
The cartoon is said to have appeared
on the Bitterkomix website, and while
there was no comment from camp
Joost at the time of going to print,
fans of the hero are disgusted — and
rightly so. The cartoon couldn’t come
at a worse time, as it went viral in
the same week he launched his book
99 Things I Want My Children To
Know. We’re sure this comic isn’t one.
CORY MONTEITH — GONE
FAR TOO SOON
Glee star Cory Monteith was sadly found dead in a hotel room
in Vancouver last week. The star had battled with a drug
addiction and had checked himself into rehab for the second
time back in April. The acting police officer, Chief Doug
LePard, reported that there was no indication of foul play,
and an autopsy would take place to indicate the cause of
death. His on- and off-screen girlfriend Lea Michele’s rep said,
“We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during
this devastating time.” It’s tragic that yet another young
star’s rise was cut so short. RIP, Cory.

interviews yet, former
SA swimmer Princess
Charlene of Monaco told Times
Weekend magazine that she’s
not a runaway bride and that
she has happy memories of her
wedding with Prince Albert.
But earlier this week,
shocking pictures of the
Princess emerged with her
holding hands with a man who’s
not her hubby Prince Albert.
What’s even more shocking
is that Her Serene Highness (as
she is known among the royals)
and 79-year-old Dennis are seen
flirting throughout the day.
Not appropriate for a married
princess considering it was two
weeks ago when she told a local
SA community newspaper that
she and Prince Albert plan to
have a baby soon.
The pair was aboard Dennis’
yacht Attessa IV in Porto Cervo
in Sardinia. Wearing a crochet
dress over her swimming
costume, she is seen smoking a
cigarette. Hmmm… Stress from
the pink palace there, Princess?
And she and Dennis aren’t the
only ones on the yacht. There
are other friends with them, too,
showing how she openly flirts
with him in front of a trusted
few. In more pictures, she
is seen taking a dip in the
ocean waters while Dennis
watches her.
A quick Google search
on Dennis revealed he’s an
American philanthropist
who owns a consortium of
companies. He was ranked by
Forbes magazine as the 58th
richest person in America.
Although these images are
shocking, they’re not entirely
unbelievable. There’s been a
lot of talk in royal circles about
her marriage to Prince Albert
being a smoke screen to his
many affairs, and then there
were those rumours of her
wanting to run away just days
before her wedding amid stories
that she and the Prince had
a fight. And on her wedding
day, she was openly crying.
Then, just two months ago,
the princess was linked to Kiwi
rugby player, Byron Kelleher.
The palace has brushed
all these stories off as vicious
rumours and, in the past, the
Prince has instructed his
lawyers to sue at least one
European magazine for
defamation of character.

threat, until now. Kanye
West has made no secret
of his desire to escape
the “boring” world of
LA and get back to his artistic
hub in Paris. And now, with
his and Kim Kardashian’s
baby North almost two
months old, it looks like the
move could happen any day.
Kanye is likely to make it
alone for now, as he struggles
with Kim’s “momager” Kris
Jenner, the family’s TV
show filming around them
constantly, and LA paparazzi
(they’re more restricted
in France).
“Kanye has told friends
he’s days away from escaping
to Paris,” says our insider.
“He has his private jet on
standby. He’s not planning
a full-time move and will be
back and forth to LA. Of
course he wants to be with his
family, but at the moment he
feels like he’s in a nightmare.
Kim is upset at how things
have played out in the past
couple of weeks.”
Recently, producer Rick
Rubin hinted that Kanye’s
album Yeezus was a two-part
project, which sources say
would be finished in Paris.
And, in an article in W
magazine, it was revealed
that Kanye was refurbishing
his Paris loft in preparation
for his return.
“Kim and North were
meant to be coming with
Kanye [in a TV interview
when she was pregnant, Kim
told interviewer Kelly Ripa
that she would settle down
in Paris once the baby was
born], but the last thing she
wants is to leave her family
and care for a baby without
their support in a foreign
country,” says our insider.
In the W piece, Kanye
stated, “In Paris … you can
just trip on inspiration.” This
couldn’t be further from his
feelings about LA. “Kanye
feels like a prisoner in LA,”
says our insider. “He’s
followed everywhere by
paparazzi when he’s out,
and when he’s in the house
he gets wound up by the
constant presence of
cameras. Relations between
him and Kris are at an all-time
low. He wants his baby to be
raised away from famehungry people in LA.”
It’s not just Paris that
Kanye is escaping to. He’s
signed a contract to
collaborate on a range with
French fashion house APC,
and has set up a workshop in
Milan, Italy, where he can
work on it. Following that is
the Yeezus tour, due to kick
off in October. This doesn’t
leave much time for Kim, who
is said to be “devastated” that
Kanye is so keen to leave LA.

cent in the second week of its
release. “Kanye worries it’s
because people focus more
on his relationship with Kim
than his music now.”
On his first work
engagement since North’s
birth — a BET after-party on 30
June — he was engulfed in more
scandal when reports surfaced
he’d got close to a mystery
blonde. Though these were
soon quashed by the lady
herself (Katarina Van Derham,
who said, “He doesn’t even
know who I am!”), the incident
cemented why Kanye wants to
leave LA.
“He had to postpone
business when the baby came
five weeks early, so it makes
sense for him to travel between
Paris, Milan and LA for now,”
says our insider. “Kim wants to
be near her family, but doesn’t
want Kanye to leave without
her — they’re both torn and it’s
breaking her heart.”

months later in December that
he ran into her again that they
had sex and started a more
regular affair, which included
an early Christmas present of
a threesome. The source says
she has game tickets, plane
tickets and invoices as evidence.
The affair is said to have
ended in February, but with
the story breaking now, the
couple’s happy front is
crumbling. For people who
are constantly stalked by the
paparazzi, they usually conduct
themselves well. However,
on 10 July when a paparazzo
asked Lamar, “Did you cheat
on Khloé?” and mentioned
the stripper, it struck a nerve,
sending Lamar into a rage. The

camera, he seemed disturbingly
cold and controlled on the
surface as he pulled possessions
out one paparazzo’s car, threw
them on the street and smashed

Strangely, in the wake of this,
Khloé took to Twitter to defend
him. After a number of tweets
swearing at the paparazzi, she

Back then, Khloé took to Twitter,

indicates that the
motivation behind her new look
could be a desperate attempt to
catch her husband’s wandering
eye. The couple has succeeded
in keeping everything together
on the surface, but in the wake
of cheating rumours, the cracks
are starting to show.
Lamar Odom, Khloé’s
husband of almost four years,
is no stranger to strip clubs,
and it was allegedly in the
Stadium Club in Washington in
January last year that he got a
bit too close to stripper Jennifer
Richardson. According to a
friend of the stripper, after
getting cosy in the club, she
ended up in his hotel room.
There he dismantled her phone
to protect his privacy, and after
an “incredibly intimate” night
where they “did everything
else” but have sex, he left her
with $3 000 (R30 000) and the
promise to see her again.
