BeautifulWorks ByJoy Bethea Mississippi Iron Works Showroom BEFORE “We usually have two types of door customers,” Cary Crawley, owner of Mississippi Iron Works, says. “Either they want safety, or they want an attractive door that is easy to maintain. We have safety doors, but we also have these beautiful custom designed doors, a perfect fit for people who want the look and feel of wood doors without the constant upkeep.” But now there is a category for homeowners who—when considering safety and beauty—prefer “and” rather than “or.” Customers Dr. Phillip and Linda Allen Ley were looking for an option that combined safety and beauty. And the staff at Mississippi Iron Works was more than qualified to help them design a perfect fit for their French style home. AFTER - INTERIOR “We had a big, solid wood door,” Linda Allen Ley says, “but Phillip was concerned about safety.” It wasn’t installed as securely as they wanted. Furthermore, the solid wood made it difficult to see who was approaching, and Ley also wanted to bring more natural light into the dark foyer. After discussing it for a while, the couple attended the Home Show at the MS Trade Mart, and while visiting booths, ended up talking with Crawley. “We had several friends also in the medical profession who had recommended Cary,” Ley says. “Of all the vendors who we ended up getting quotes from, Cary seemed the most excited and enthusiastic.” Together, the Leys, Crawley and the staff at Mississippi Iron Works created a safe door with a simple, yet classy, design that accentuated the home’s style while allowing natural light into the foyer. “And they were very professional,” Ley says. “Though it is simple, it creates this ‘Wow factor,’” she says. Their friends often comment on the stunning effect the door adds to the entrance of the home. “It’s much more welcoming.” Crawley and the staff at Mississippi Iron Works are excited to help the increasing number of customers who are looking to enhance and upgrade their home with a new door. “Many people are interested,” Crawley says, “because they are tired of maintaining wood doors.” It is a flawless marriage between safety, convenience and attractiveness. All of the doors are custom-made—designed, measured and cut—to fit each individual home. They are becoming increasingly popular, Crawley says. Just as the team at Mississippi Iron Works special attention to quality when manufacturing and installing the doors, they are also committed to creating designs that enhance the aesthetics of each home. Though the possibilities are endless, Crawley and his staff have made the design process simple. Customers can start by browsing a collection of sample photos of doors built in the past, both contemporary and traditional. “We also have a door designer who works to create a perfect, unique design for every customer’s home,” Crawley said. To provide even more decorating options, Mississippi Iron Works’ showroom boasts a remarkable assortment of additional iron furniture for the home, urns, railings, mailboxes, tabletop accessories, lighting, fountains, and ceramic Kamado Joe grills.
