Gathering Prayer 10 Cents a Meal Today we will receive our 10 Cents a Meal offering for hunger in our community. Please come forward as we sing our songs of praise and place your offerings in the basket at the front. Songs of Praise (Please stand if able) “Blessed Be Your Name” Matt Redman Blessed be Your name in the land that is plentiful. Where Your streams of abundance flow, Blessed be Your name. Blessed be Your name when I'm found in the desert place. Though I walk through the wilderness blessed be Your name. Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise. When the darkness closes in Lord still I will say. (Chorus) Blessed be the name of the Lord. Blessed be Your name. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Blessed be Your glorious name. Blessed be Your name, when the sun's shining down on me. When the world's all as it should be, blessed be Your name. Blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering. Though there's pain in the offering, Blessed be Your name. Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise. When the darkness closes in Lord still I will say, (Chorus) You give and take away, You give and take away. My heart will choose to say Lord blessed be Your name. (Chorus) “Jesus, Only Jesus” Chris Tomlin/Matt Redman Who has the power to raise the dead? Who can save us from our sin? He is our hope, our righteousness: Jesus, only Jesus. Who can make the blind to see? Who holds the keys that set us free? He paid it all to bring us peace: Jesus, Only Jesus. (Chorus) Holy King, Almighty Lord; Saints and angels all adore. I join with them and bow before Jesus, only Jesus. Who can command the highest praise? Who has the name Above all names? You stand alone; I stand amazed, Jesus only Jesus. (Chorus) You will command the highest praise. Yours is the Name above all names. You stand alone; I stand amazed, Jesus, only Jesus. Jesus, only Jesus. Recognition of Children Children are a blessing to the family of God. We invite children age 4 through 1st grade to attend Worship Readiness at this time if they desire. Children’s Hymn “Jesus Loves Me” Warner/Bradbury Hymnal No. 185 Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong; They are weak but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. Offering Offertory “Listen With Your Eyes” Loonis McGlohon Vocal Solo - Phyllis Sills If you think God isn’t speaking, try listening with your eyes To the soft unfolding of roses, to the grace of a bird as it flies. When the moos rolls past your window and new stars gently rise, If you think God isn’t speaking to you, listen with your eyes. Listen to the winter willow ice that hangs like melting glass, Listen to the summer lemon sun that hides in blades of grass, When you hear no voice at midnight, wait for blue morning skies: If you think God isn’t speaking to you, listen with your eyes. Listen to the winter willow ice that hangs like melting glass, Listen to the summer lemon sun that hides in blades of grass, When you hear no voice at midnight, wait for blue morning skies: If you think God isn’t speaking to you, look around and listen with your eyes. Please email Jim Szeyller at jim@carmelpresbyterian.org with any questions you have about life and ministry at Carmel. Or call him on extension 111. Intinction Communion today is through the practice of Intinction. You will be invited to come forward, take a piece of bread, dip it in the cup and then return to your seat by the side aisles. We recognize that for some, because of health reasons, this form of celebrating communion is not appropriate. We will have individual servings of communion available from elders stationed at the sides of the sanctuary. Simply nod to one of them and they will be privileged to serve you at your seat. After partaking at your seat, should you like to come forward to receive a blessing, you may come forward and at the communion station cross your arms across your chest. That will be the signal of your desire to receive a blessing from the elder or pastor. Communion Elements Out of respect and care for church family members with health issues, we celebrate Communion using gluten-free bread! Knowing Nights The Knowing Nights is on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm. Knowing Nights for children and youth, including dinners, will resume on September 16th. Are you part of a prayer team or ministry? Stop by the Prayer Ministry Table located outside the Fellowship Hall and check out Carmel's prayer focused activities and opportunities. While there, pick up your prayer pin. Wear it to show your belief in the power of prayer! We would have a meeting of interested people to discuss all aspects of the class. This meeting will be held at Lo and Bill's home. We alphabetically rotate through our church membership on an annual basis, and each week we pray as a body for specific Carmel families. Although you may not know each member, our God is faithful to listen to the prayers we bring on each other’s behalf before his throne. When there is a month which has a fifth Sunday, our staff members are the focus of our prayers. This week we invite you to include the following families in your daily prayers: Bucky McMullen and Mac; Jeff and Terri McNeill – Jacqueline, Grant, and Virginia; Daniel Meredith; Howard Meredith. We would also like to invite the Carmel family to lift up the following college students in your daily prayers: Jess Stafford; Virginia McNeill; Elizabeth Tiddy. Love and Sympathy to: Skip, Drew, and Matthew Adams on the loss of their wife and mother, Debbie, on Friday July 31, 2015. Global Prayer Initiative Week 8: Friends of Lynips are expending lots of energy and exposing their team to risks in order to produce The Jesus Film for a population of sadly mistreated refugees who have no place to call home. The Regional Director [of the organization with which this couple serves] has asked the country representative to release the script and told him that he does not have to be involved if he is concerned for his safety. However, nothing has happened yet. Please pray this will all be sorted out without relationships being jeopardized.
