Note: Use 8GB stick or larger. 1. Insert USB stick to host PC. 2. From Windows Explorer right click USB stick and Format to FAT32, as below: 3. Extract desired autoInstaller zip to the USB stick. 4. USB keyboard connected to USB hub 3. USB hub with external power source 4. Bootable installation USB stick connected to USB hub 5. Power source (for setup without battery pack) 6. How to update OS and Bios NOTE: For installing 32bit Windows, device MUST have: - 32 bit Windows and BIOS installed OR - 32bit BIOS installed 3.1. 32bit BIOS is installed but device does not boot to Windows 1. Attach installation USB stick to USB hub as in example. 2. Reboot the device. 3. When Bios logo is seen, press ESC button from keyboard. 4. Device boots to BIOS. 5. Select “Boot Manager” with keyboard and press Enter. 6. Select “EFI USB Device” and press Enter. 8. Device boots to WinPE and installs OS and BIOS. Installation will take 9 min. 9. If you at this point get an error on the display saying ‘Windows Boot Manager failed’, just press OK to continue installation 10. When complete, device boots to Windows 8.1. 11. If touchscreen or sensors have orientation issues, update configurations according to chapters: ‘How to Update Touch Configuration’ and ‘How to Update Sensor Hub Configuration’. __________________________________________________________________________ Page 7 of 21 Document No: © Aava Mobile Ltd. Attach installation USB stick to USB hub as in example. 3. Run ‘bootToUSB.exe’ as Administrator from the root of installation USB stick 4. Click ‘Boot To USB’ button from the appearing dialog. 5. Wait until device has made necessary updates to configurations. 6. Device boots to WinPE and installs OS and BIOS. Installation will take 9 min. 7. If you at this point get an error on the display saying ‘Windows Boot Manager failed’, just press OK to continue installation 8. How to update only BIOS NOTE: When OS is updated according to chapter How to update OS and Bios, BIOS is updated automatically and there is no need for separate BIOS update. 1. Boot device do Windows 2. Attach installation USB stick to USB hub as in example. 3. Run ‘Aava_bios_inari_<version>-32].exe’ from the ‘biosUpdate’ folder of installation USB stick. 4. Click ‘OK’ button from the appearing dialog. 5. Select UEFI Firmware Settings 9. Press Restart 10. The device will boot to Bios and Bios menu will appear 11. Attach installation USB stick to USB hub as in example. 2. Reboot the device. 3. When Bios logo is seen, press ESC button from keyboard. 4. Device should boot to BIOS. 5. Select “Boot Manager” with keyboard and press Enter. 6. Go to ULPMC FW Update folder Type “fs1:” Type “cd ulpmc_fw_update” 9. Start ULPMC FW updater: Type “Ulpmc_fw_update.nsh” 10. Accept EULA, browse to bottom with enter and on the last page type “y” 11. Check that ULPMC FW update is Completed Successfully. 12. Device is now ready. Type “exit” to return to BIOS menu. Run UPDATE_ULPMC.bat from ‘ulpmc_fw_update\driver’ folder of installation USB stick. 2. Click ‘Install’ on Windows Security prompt to install driver. 3. The device will be rebooted automatically after driver is installed. 4. ULPMC FW will be updated on boot phase. 5. After install you can check if install was successful from device manager: o ‘Firmware->Device Firmware’: yellow bang indicates problem. o ‘Firmware->Device Firmware ->Propertiers->Details->Hardware Ids’: last parameter beginning with REV tells you current version number(for example REV_2817 for Aava_ULPMC_28_Aava_17) 6. If installation fails for some reason, uninstall driver with "Delete the driver..." selected. How to update touch configuration IMPORTANT: Before programming touch configuration make sure you know the product variant of the particular device. If not sure, see chapter How to find out the product variant and the HW version for instructions. 1. Start Windows and connect installation USB stick to device 2. Run [usb stick]:\atmelTouch\”Product Variant”\flashTouchCfg.bat Product Variant: Inari8 or Inari10, etc. 3. Check that “Configuration was updated successfully” is shown. Note: you have 20 seconds to check the message before the window closes. In case you are not sure of touch FW, you can check the version with following instructions. If version is different than 2.0, please contact to samuli.konttila@aavamobile.com for further info. 1. Boot windows to “Efi settings” When Windows is running, swipe in from the right edge of the screen and tap “Settings”. Select ”Change PC settings”->”Update and recovery”->”recovery”->”advanced startup”->“Restart now”. In Option boot menu select “Troubleshoot”->”Advanced options”->”Uefi firmware Settings”->”Restart” In BIOS menu set “SCU”->”Advanced”->”LPSS & SCC Configuration”->Touchpanel FW device” to Enable Exit and save F10 2. Start windows and connect installation USB stick to device 3. Install FW flash driver [USB stick]:atmelTouch/mxtBootBridge/x86/mxtBootBridge.inf 4. However if there is something strange in behaviour of the Sensor Hub and the sensors, then perform the following to update correct configuration values to hub 1. Start Windows and connect installation USB stick to device 2. Run update script as administrator: [usb stick]:\sensorsUpdate\UpdateSensors.bat 3. Check that “Sensor orientation update OK” is shown. Open Device Manager and check that modem is up and running, no yellow bang: Network adapters -> HUAWEI Mobile Broadband Module 3. Attach installation USB stick to Inari. 4. Execute modem flasher, double click: “modem_fw_update/MU736Update_12.100.00.01.1818.exe” 5.
