Welcome
Welcome to Mr Cameron, Ms Shepherd, Ms Kisielewicz and Ms

teaching degree and will be spending the remainder of the term
in 3J, 5/6B, 5Mc and 4/5C.
Canteen Online Ordering
From the beginning of Term 3 our canteen will be introducing a
new Canteen Online Ordering System, where you will be able to
order your child’s lunch for school from the comfort of your own
home.
Sports News
PSSA Rugby League
The game against Dungog has been postponed due to the
weather forcing the ground to be closed. Once a new date has
been selected new notes will be handed out.
PSSA Girls Soccer
th
The girls soccer game will be played tomorrow, Tuesday 7 June
at Upper Reserve at Wallsend against Elermore Vale Public
School. Weather permitting students will leave from school at
9.00am and meet Mr Manning at the ground at 9.30am for a
10.00am start.
Netball
This Thursday our Terrific Tenambit netballers will be playing in
the second round of the PSSA competition after defeating
Beresfield. We are playing on Thursday 9th June at 12.30pm on
our netball court here at school against Speers Point Public
School. We wish the girls the best of luck for their game
MLC Gala Day
Last Friday Stage 3 students from Tenambit, Metford, Largs and
Bolwarra Public Schools went to Maitland Park to participate in a
variety of sports. Students got the chance to play in teams made
up of all four schools in games of soccer, netball, touch football,
cricket and teeball. A lot of fun was had on the day with students
actively participating and enjoying the sports all throughout the
day. A thank you needs to go to the twenty Maitland High School
students that offered to referee and take charge of all the games
being played. The day was a great success and we look forward to
being involved in similar events in the future.
www.flexischools.com.au
There will be three payment options:
•
Visa
•
Paypal
•
Open an account with Flexischool (the company that
provides the ordering service for us). This allows you to
load money onto your account and the lunch order
amount is deducted from the balance. You will be
alerted when the balance is low. Cut off for online orders
will be 9.05am.
The full canteen menu will be on the website and you can choose
your order.
You will still be able to place orders with cash over the counter,
but as we live now in a cashless society with many families
working this new system will be of great assistance.
More information will be provided over the coming weeks. Why
not give it a go!
Winter Uniforms
Just a reminder with the colder weather now here, students are
required to wear their winter school uniform.
School hats are the only hats students should be wearing. If you
are experiencing difficulty dressing your child in the school
uniform please make an appointment to see the Principal.
A copy of our uniform requirements can be found later in the
newsletter.
Playgroup
A reminder that our playgroup runs every Thursday morning from
9.00am-11.00am. We would love to see new faces!
Our playgroup is supported by Hunter Prelude and other family
support services from the local area and is a great way for parents
to meet other mums and dads, as well as ask any questions about
community resources and support.
Cadbury Chocolates – Stage 3 Fundraiser
The next order of chocolates for the Stage 3 Canberra camp
th
fundraiser will be delivered to the school on Wednesday 8 June.
If anyone has chocolates at home they cannot sell please return
them to the school with the unsold chocolates and money as
other students can sell them.
Aboriginal Team Meeting
All Aboriginal parents, carers and community members are invited
to our next Aboriginal Team Meeting at 2.00pm on Wednesday
8th June in the staff study. We will be finalising our plans for
NAIDOC Week which will be celebrated from 20th to 24th June,
2016. Please come along and share your ideas.
P&C News
Tenambit Public School P&C Association has the position of
Treasurer vacant in our Committee. If anyone is interested in
taking up this position or would like to know more about the role,
please see Rochelle Dial or Maree Gilchrist.
TENAMBIT PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENT BLOGS
Where the magic happens!
Check out the latest blog at Tenambit Public School.
http://tenambit15.edublogs.org/
Designed to showcase the efforts of some of our students from
Years 4 to 6 it will provide a global audience for their work, an
avenue for feedback and reflection as well as assist them in
developing new ICT skills. Over the course of the year we hope to
make connections with classes in Australia and overseas as we
explore and learn about being responsible members of an online
community.
Courage to Care Excursion
On Wednesday 8th June, selected students from Stage 3 will be
travelling with Mrs Brathwaite and Mr McGaw to Maitland Art
Gallery. This experience is about people - people who stepped in
to help when they saw others in need. The exhibition draws
attention to the plights of Jewish people during Nazi Germany in
WWll. It confronts the issues of discrimination, intimidation and
defiance. Students will meet a survivor of the Holocaust and be
involved in a harmony workshop. Selected students will bring
permission notes home today.
CUBS
If you have a child commencing Kindergarten in 2017 at Tenambit
Public School - our school readiness program assists these
students to have a great start to the school year. Please register at
the school office for your child to be involved in future intakes.

Attendance at School
Regular attendance at school is important for students to be able
to reach their potential. The school is required to record the
reason for any absences. Students are only to be absent when
they are sick or have a valid reason reason for missing school. If
your child is sick you can notify us via the Skoolbag App,
telephone us, or send a note in when your child returns to school.
You can download the App on Apple or Android devices – simply
visit your Apple Store or Google Play Store and search for
“Tenambit Skoolbag”.
