Our Union was founded by men of courage
and action, they sacrificed more than they had to
give in pursuit of an idea and a dream. They sought
to reclaim their dignity and honor from those who
would exploit them.
The foundations of our Union were then laid
with the stone of their resolve, and the mortar of their blood. The year
was 1896. Through the years, the struggles continued. It fell to each
generation, and to each brother, to set another stone, to add to his own
resolve, and his own blood. Our own Local is prominent in the history of
these battles.
Today we all stand on the stones set before us. Courses set by our
fathers, and by their fathers and fathers before them. We hold a dream,
which has been won only by their sacrifice.
The struggle is now our own. It is our time. Those who would
exploit us, and seek to silence us, for their own profit are attacking. Their
weapon is Proposition 32.
It is certain that it will take all of us, all of those whom we know
and all of whom we can talk to, to defeat this weapon they seek to bring
down on our Union. Even then, our numbers may not be adequate.
There are those in this Union for a paycheck; those that have given
little thought to the sacrifice that has been given by others so that they
may hold that paycheck in their hand.
I would urge everyone to take a hard look in the mirror, and think
about their own contribution to his/her Union and as Kennedy so eloquently stated “Ask not what your Country can do for you - ask what you
can do for your Country.”
Your union needs you now. You must register to vote, encourage
and assist others to register to vote and get involved.
You need to understand this is a part of being a Union.
We must fight with all the hard and bitterly won
pride and honor we hold.
Vote No on Proposition 32!

President’s Report
Brothers and Sisters:
Prop 32 Threatens our
jobs! Prop 32 is a trick. Anti-union
millionaires say it’s “campaign
finance reform”, but it’s really a one-two punch to give
corporate CEOs even more power to offshore jobs, cut
pensions and reduce wages. The Truth Behind Prop 32.
• Phony “reform” funded by anti-union millionaires and corporate executives.
• Prohibits union members from fighting back against
corporate attacks on our retirement, wages and jobs.
• Full of exemptions for powerful corporate interests,
Super PACs and billionaires.
• The Prop 32 one-two punch to knock us out: Punch
1 – Pass Prop 32 to weaken unions by silencing the
voice of workers. Punch 2 –Pass anti-workers measures that threaten our jobs, overtime pay, pensions
and even our right to have a union at all.
Obama is the choice for the working women and
men in this country. If you want to keep your prevailing
wage, Davis-Bacon, and our apprenticeship program,
Obama is your only guarantee to keep these union valued
properties in place. Mitt Romney, in a meeting with the ABC,
told them the day he’s elected, he will do away with DavisBacon, prevailing wage, and our apprenticeship program
and our right for a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The ABC acknowledged with a standing ovation. THESE
PEOPLE ARE OUT TO DESTROY US AND WE ARE NOT
GOING TO LET THAT HAPPEN WITH YOUR VOTE AND
SUPPORT!
• Ironworkers Local 433 / Dollars Against Diabetes
(DADS ) Charity Golf Tournament is on September 22nd
and it is starting to fill up. If you haven’t sent in your
request to play, please do so ASAP so you won’t be left
out, we sell out every year.
• Our annual Picnic is just around the corner on September
8th.
• Labor Solidarity Parade Monday September 3rd located
on Broad & E Street. Wilmington Assembly begins 8AM/
march departs at 10. See you there.

Brothers & Sisters,
Too many cedar boxes
with Bibles lately Brothers and
Sisters.
Making the rounds here in my new area. Work
seems to be picking up from the jobs we are getting and
the amount of work being bid on by our contractors.
Prop 32 needs to be front and center for every
working man and woman in California. If WE let it pass,
we have let the enemies of working people silence the
voice of Labor. Do your part and get involved in the
elections of 2012.
I hope everyone that has always come to the
Labor day parade in Wilmington continues (by the time
you read this) and a hundred more decided to partake.
Thank you to all who have called to let me know
where you are working and what you see around the
area.
Ironworkers picnic is right here so gather up
your family and spend the day with your Brothers and
Sisters...…See ya at the meeting and drag a buddy along.

Business Agent’s Report
Brothers and Sisters :
The work Picture in the foothill
and upper desert areas are about
the same as last month, but with a
few small changes. The Bechtel Catalina Solar Project is
still having problems with the driving of piles so they cut
back on man power. Kiewit had a setback on delivery of
the last turbine so they had a big cut back on work force
and are only running a day shift.
There can’t be enough mentioned on Prop. 32.
I recently attended the California Federation of Labor
convention at the end of last month. At the convention, I
learned they have studied and figured out that we need
76 % of every unions membership in the state to vote this
measure down. Looking at our last election of officers in
June, just a little over 1400 turned out to vote and our last
contract that was ratified just a little over 1200 and that’s
a mail in ballot. If we are going to make a better stand on
prop. 32 to get Obama back in office we need better participation from our membership, If you have moved you
have to re- register. Ask your family and friends if they’re
registered.
If we don’t all get out to vote, organized labor in
our state will never be the same. We are literally in a fight
for our existence and we need to show these billionaires
we will beat this and vote in labor friendly candidates into
office.
I hope you and your families have a great Labor
Day weekend. I look forward to seeing you and yours at
our picnic on Sep. 8th at Bonelli Park. Also, don’t miss
out on the DADS Charity Golf Tournament on Sep. 22
at Meadowlark Golf course in Huntington Beach as it is
always a good time

Business Agent’s Report
Brothers & Sisters,
For those who were unable to attend the last meeting I would like
to once again thank those who
came out to the rally at the Anaheim City Council. We may have been slightly overshadowed by other events going on that day but our message
got out and was received. We want JOBS, and we want
them NOW!!! That was the battle cry for the event.
“No on 32!!!” You will hear that loud and hopefully clearly until November! In the August 19th LA Times, writer
Michael Hiltzik called Proposition 32, “A fraud to end all
frauds”. I suggest you go on line, pull up the article, read
it, and be informed well enough to convey to others why
you are against it. It uses words and phrases like “reform”
and “special interests” to tickle the ears of the ill-informed.
Proposition 32 has loopholes large enough to drive a corporation through.
The Presidental Election is vital but don’t forget to get educated on your local representatives and help elect union
friendly candidates. You can reference our website to assist you in finding the candidates that COPE has endorsed,
we will update the website as they become available.
Please remember to support those that support you!
Take a moment this Labor Day to reflect on the struggles of
the past, focus on the work of today, and plan for success
in the future!!!
I look forward to seeing you and your families at the Picnic.
Reminder… if you come into my area give me a call.

Business Agent’s Report
Greetings to all my Brothers and
Sisters from the Inland Empire.
I would like to personally thank
everyone working in my area.
When I visit a job I check in with the Foreman, General
Foreman and the Superintendent for an update on the
job. I can’t tell you how nice it is to hear that the members
of Local # 433 are doing a great job.
We have picked up additional work on jobs because of
our get in and get it done mentality. I encourage everyone
to keep up the hard work as it is paying off.
For those of you who have not taken the Qualified Riggers
course I encourage you to do so as the power plants are
asking for it. (not mandatory but preferred)
The Ivanpah Solar Project will soon start cutting back and
will continue to do so through the end of the year. We
have had a problem with some guys following the safety
procedures and dealing with the extreme heat.
The Abengoa Barstow job is moving forward, the only
problem has been the wind. Straightline Construction has
added a few additional men to the pylons, Milco is up to
35 men, doing site unloading and setting the solar panels
in the field.
The Genesis Blythe Job has ARB setting the solar panels
in the field. I have signed a new company, SPX Cooling
Towers. They currently have approximately 35 men
on site and in October they will start a new tower and
hire additional hands. PMI is another new company.
Supervision has just arrived onsite and intend to hire an
additional 20 hands throughout the month. PMI has the
entire Power Block on both units.
Barnhart Crane & Rigging will continue to be at The
Gemma Gas Fire Power Plant for the remainder of the
year doing the heavy rigging. Milco will take over the
remaining work from Barnhart. The Ironworkers on this
site are currently doing the Boilermakers work – Rigging
and setting pipe for the Pipefitters in addition to our own
work.
As I am sure you are all aware, this is Election year. I
can not stress the importance of getting involved. We
must take a stance against Prop 32. I am asking that you
educate yourself and those around you and in November
make sure to vote NO on 32. Please reference the www.
ironworkers433.org for up to date election endorsements
as we will be posting the information as it becomes
available.

Brothers and Sisters,
If you have never been
involved in an election, this is the
one. We will need many volunteers
to man phone banks. Our enemies are trying to deliver a
fatal blow to organized labor and the middle class. First
by electing Romney, a corporate raider, as President, and
second the passage of Prop 32. We can and will defeat
our enemies if we all pull together and vote as a union.
Honor yourself on Labor day and don’t forget our
picnic on September 8th.
