The woods outside Athens are a busy place on this magical night! Four runaway lovers find themselves in the
middle of a dispute between the King and Queen of the fairies; all the while, a group of rude mechanicals
attempt to produce a play. Between these unlikely groups flies Puck, armed only with a wicked sense of
humor and a love potion capable of making anyone fall for the first person they set eyes upon. Appealing
to the human desire to cross the boundary between reality and fantasy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
brilliantly expresses our shared human uncertainty about love. This classic tale returns to Door Shakespeare,
this time created and directed by Joseph Hanreddy, whose critically acclaimed adaptation of Pride and
Prejudice appeared on our stage in 2011.

WONDER OF WILL
IN 2016!
Shakespeare’s political drama Julius Caesar will make its first ever appearance on Door Shakespeare’s stage
this summer. The action begins when Caesar returns to Rome from the wars as a virtual dictator. Brutus and
his fellow Senators resolve that Caesar’s ambition must be overthrown, which in Rome can mean only one
thing: the great general must be assassinated. Experience conspiracy, passion, betrayal and politics in this
action-packed production conceived and directed by James Pickering, a Milwaukee audience favorite; whose
work was last seen on our stage as Friar Lawrence in Romeo & Juliet and Gonzalo in The Tempest in 2015.

Celebrate the legacy of William Shakespeare by gathering with friends and family prior to the show
for lively discussion and interactive lessons, carefully created by the Folger Shakespeare Library.
These events will help us all get closer to the centuries old history and tradition of William Shakespeare’s
work. We will also learn about the First Folio, the book that gave us Shakespeare, and we will create
our very own folio page. These informal and inviting events are appropriate for all ages and are
FREE to the public. We look forward to seeing you before the show!
