years, the trend in RV outdoor cooking was the barbecue grill, but experienced campers tell us
they prefer the superior versatility and efficiency of a high-pressure outdoor stove. Americana,
Highlander, and Evolution (exc. Cobalt) now feature a separate high pressure outdoor stove
standard. The Destiny series (exc. Taos and Sedona) features a combination indoor/outdoor low
pressure stove standard.
SUPERIOR FLOOR/BED CONSTRUCTION
To provide long-term
durability, we know to
use only high quality onepiece Weyerhaeuser
Structurwood®. Some
competitors boast of using
plywood, but look closely–
you’ll likely see voids,
knotholes, and thin
stapled-on splices that are
prone to squeaks and
separation. And some
competitors want you to
think floor undercoating
is beneficial, but
“Weyerhaeuser agrees with Fleetwood’s practice of not coating the exposed bottom surface of
the Structurwood® panels used in their trailers. In our opinion, moisture from occupancy load,
or from other internal or external sources may become trapped in the Structurwood® substrate
if it is coated on the underside with a system that impairs the ability of the substrate to dry
thoroughly. Trapped moisture, over time, may cause premature decay or rot.” Weyerhaeuser
• We reinforce every bed with a full-perimeter aluminum frame and support channels, and we
rate them to 1,100lbs capacity (750lbs on Taos and Cobalt).
• All Fleetwood beds feature self-storing support legs that set up easily and cannot be
misplaced or lost. Look closely – most competitors use detached poles – like tent poles, they
must be preassembled and stored separately.
• Our mattresses feature a comfort-engineered polyester fiber that is hypoallergenic and
comfortably soft and supportive. Kick off your shoes and take a rest.
• Some competitors boast of heated mattresses. We do not believe electric mattresses are
practical for the rigors of camping use.

SUPERIOR LIFT SYSTEM
We know that a folding camping trailer’s lift system must survive exposure to elements. That’s
why our lift posts are clearly visible, because they’re clearly superior. Try to find our competitors’
lift posts – they’re concealed behind awkward tent flaps to keep them out of sight and hopefully
out of the elements.
• We manufacture our own high quality stainless steel posts and use aircraft grade stainless
steel cables. Competitors’ lift posts are just plated steel tubes with springs inside – which
means they can rust if left exposed to the elements.
• Fleetwood lift posts divert rainwater harmlessly to the ground. Competitors’ lift posts channel
rainwater to the springs, which can then rust.
• The Fleetwood lift system is user friendly, with no need for a warning cable. When raising
their roofs, most competitors require you to visually monitor a warning cable to avoid the
serious damage that can be caused by over-cranking their lift system.
• The Fleetwood lift system is dependable and requires no safety posts. After raising their roofs,
many competitors require you to install safety posts.
• Fleetwood engineers and builds its proprietary lift system, with independent cables for each
lift post. Many competitors use outsourced lift systems that rely on a single master cable to
operate their system. Damage this one cable, and your camper cannot be used.
• Fleetwood’s Posi-Lock feature allows you to stop and start cranking without fear of
kick-back or free-fall.

We know the true measure of a camping trailer roof is
its ability to provide everyday peace of mind –
whether the trailer is being used or being stored out
of doors and unattended. No other folding camping
trailer manufacturer has built more or knows more
about camping trailer roofs than Fleetwood.
• Americana, Highlander, and Evolution (exc. Cobalt)
series roofs feature a cambered, one-piece front to
rear fiberglass skin, and full-length aluminum rails
that integrate our exclusive roof rack tracks.
• Destiny roofs feature an aluminum skin folded
along all four edges for added strength without
side seams. This roof has approximately half the
horizontal seam length of most competitive roofs.
• Look closely at competitors’ roofs…they say they’re
seamless – but they clearly aren’t.
• We do not compromise the integrity of our roofs
with a vent because we know the plastic dome and
the additional screws and caulking are potential

We know camping trailers get towed over rough roads, and require a flexible yet strong metal
structure – like a bridge or airplane. That’s why only Fleetwood uses a proprietary superstructure
that combines a heavy duty tubular steel chassis, thick aluminum upper body rails, up to eleven
steel bulkheads, and riveted exterior body panels. And our interior walls are designed to “float”,
which allows trailer flex without risk of the interior furniture pulling loose. Most competitors use
a lighter duty C channel chassis, thin aluminum rails, and laminated sidewalls assembled with
glue, screws and staples – no way to build an over-the-road trailer.
• All models feature galvanized steel body panels riveted to the trailer’s aluminum and steel

To make sure that you get the maximum satisfaction out of your recreational vehicle purchase, there are
several things you should know:
1. Learn all you can about the folding camping trailer you're planning to buy. Don't rely on word of mouth.
Get the facts about the actual trailer length, width, unloaded weight with options, Gross Vehicle Weight
Rating, and cargo carrying capacity. These are available in the manufacturer's sales literature or from the
Cargo Carrying Capacity Label located in each trailer. Be sure to check this information before you decide
which unit to buy.
2. Verify the towing capacity of your tow vehicle. If you don't know, or aren't sure, you can ask at your
automotive dealership. Be sure to match its tow rating to the loaded (not dry) weight of your trailer.
Include the weight of water, additional accessories, clothing, food, and gear. To help Fleetwood folding
camping trailer customers estimate this total weight, our Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings reflect the
maximum weight of the trailer when fully loaded for camping. Be sure the weight of the tow vehicle plus
the weight of your trailer do not exceed the Gross Combined Weight Rating of the tow vehicle.
Taking these simple steps before you buy will help ensure that your trailer and tow vehicle combination is just
what you wanted.
