“Mahalo nui loa” – thanks very much for
a wonderful night celebrating our St. Paul
ohana! This year’s theme, “A Night of
Ohana”, has always pulled on my heart
because of the word ohana, meaning
family. I know that one intangible that
makes our school feel special is that sense
of family. Last Saturday night, and in the
final week of preparation, that proved to
be true again. There were so many people
that volunteered their time, talent and
treasure to make it a great event for our
school. Two people that I would like to
especially acknowledge are Mrs. Dana
Haskins and Mrs. Mecca Kealoha. As
chairs of the auction, their leadership,
vision, and kindness guided everyone in
making it a remarkable night for our school. Mahalo, Dana and Mecca!
The preliminary numbers look
outstanding! It takes at least a few weeks
to receive all of the invoices and to
finalize all payments. However, at this
time, I’m confident in saying that we
grossed over $178,000, which makes “A
Night of Ohana” one of our top grossing
auctions. One reason for the increase is
due to the raffle. Over $18,000 was raised
from the raffle alone. Well done everyone!
Included in the gross amount is the money
restricted to the projects identified in the
“raise your bid” portion of the night. A

installation of security cameras, and
landscaping improvements to the front of
the upper wing. I am hopeful that we will
also be able to install heating and air
conditioning in the first through fourth
grade classrooms, too. If you would like
to contribute to those rooms, please don’t
hesitate to contact me or our Business
Manager, Mrs. Lynda Weilbrenner.
Again, thank you for making “A Night of
Ohana” an incredible night for our
school. We are full of gratitude and
appreciation for all of your support.
Tomorrow will be a fun day at school.
The Halloween celebrations that take
place are always a treat. The morning
will begin with all the students meeting in
the gym at 8:20 for the annual costume
strut. Please feel welcome to join us.
Finally, we look forward to seeing
everyone at Parent Teacher Conferences
next week. It is an opportune time for
parents and teachers to work together to
celebrate the strengths of each child and
plan for areas of growth.
In Christ’s Peace,
Kelli Braud
