FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BLANEY...
People are still talking about the Leprechaun Hunt. It was a great success! All
but five of the leprechauns were discovered- but there were three from previous years
finally discovered this year. (I had forgotten where they were hidden.) With so many
people praying, God stopped the rain just in time to start the charcoal grills for the
fabulous food. That was a minor miracle! People have been raving about the food.
There was not much left. And the music was very entertaining.
By the way, September 6 we will be hosting two Benedictine Sisters from
Tanzania. They will assist us as stewards.
Officer John Wilcher and Father Blaney greet guests as they arrive
FINAL DAYS FOR MILLIONAIRE BUCKS!!!
Thanks to the many people who have clipped the Max Millionaire Bucks from the TIMES Newspaper and sent them to the Share

bigger the prize we can bid on and we know that only with your help, we can look forward to successfully bidding for a vehicle for use at Sharing
Meadows. For Millionaire Bucks pick up call any of our great ladies of the Service League.

THOUGHTS FROM THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
By Kathleen Kelly
This month is a special one for Share Foundation – our 25th
anniversary! It was September of 1982 when the organization was
incorporated and the movement began! Share Foundation is the
dream and life work of Father Dennis Blaney, founder and current
president of the Board of Directors. Father gathered a group of
people who were interested in helping him to get the movement
going to serve as the first Board of Directors. Share Foundation’s
original focus was on supporting existing agencies that worked
with people with disabilities providing a variety of services
including housing, respite care, advocacy and sign language
classes and interpretation for the deaf. With a jump start from
Share Foundation, all of these agencies are self supporting and
thriving today as they continue to enhance the quality of life for
people with disabilities.
Once the other agencies were on their own, it was time to
focus on our own programs. Summer camp had been in existence
since the mid seventies providing a values retreat for other abled
adults and what started out as a single over night grew to week
long camps held in rented Girl Scout camps. The participants
thrived in the community setting of camp and the realization was
apparent that there was a need for such a community not just once
a year in the summer but year round. We needed to develop a
place where other abled individuals could live, work, relax and
grow to the best of their abilities. What was originally called
“Alternate Living” grew to be the community of Sharing
Meadows.
Summer camp had grown to five weeks to accommodate the
growing demand and by the nineties, it was time to turn Father
Blaney’s dream of alternate living into reality. He searched for the
right piece of property and after a few disappointments found the
185 acres that is now known as Sharing Meadows. The land was
perfect - gently rolling hills, a lake for fishing and boating, and
plenty of woods for hiking. The purchase was complete in 1991
and the dream was closer to being reality! A master plan was
developed to help us use the land to its full advantage and the
following year, 1992, saw construction of the first road and the
Elias Building, used for storage and maintenance.
An entrance road on the north side of the property was built
in 1993 followed the next year by the first village of three homes.
November 1, 1994 was the opening day of our residential program
and the community of Sharing Meadows was reality! The St.
Timothy Center camp building was completed in 1995, allowing
us to expand camp to 6 weeks each summer as well as weekend
camps each month throughout the year. Camp is even better since
we added a swimming pool and the administration of Share
Foundation became more efficient when the corporate offices
were moved to Sharing Meadows. Two more villages have been
added giving us 9 homes for our residential program as well as a
guesthouse for families with young other abled children to visit
and witness the meaningful, productive, joyful lives our Villagers
lead, giving them a beacon of hope for their child’s future.
Father Blaney’s dream is reality and so many people have
made his dream, their dream. We thank God for the many people
who have helped us to reach this milestone as we celebrate our 25th
anniversary – 25 years of progress, 25 years of love, 25 years of
sharing!

LEPRECHAUN HUNT© 2007
IS AS GOOD AS GOLD!
After 10 years of trying, Linda Pickett
found a leprechaun!
After months of meetings and planning, the 13th annual Share Foundation Leprechaun Hunt©
is a happy memory of family and friends, good food, delightful Irish music, and of course funds
raised for the operation of Sharing Meadows. Even though the skies threatened earlier in the day,
Father Blaney (and his boss) arranged for some warm weather to hold off the rain until after the
annual event.
Chef Philippe Joseph from Stones’ Bones in Munster, IN. had an enthusiastic crew who
manned the grills and cooked up a feast of barbecued ribs, chicken, sausage and more to satisfy
our hungry leprechaun hunters. Chef Bruce Ruge served up delicious pulled pork, burgers and dogs
with taste tempting salads and sides out on the grounds.
Fresh roasted sweet corn dripping in butter was served on the veranda. Frozen snow cones,
fresh popped popcorn and the sweetest of cotton candy were served down at the pool house.
Zucchini bread topped with berries and whipped cream capped off a meal fit for a king! Of course
there was plenty of beer, wine and soft drinks to wash down the meal and refresh the weary hunters!
Phyllis Beckman and Loretta Krawczyk

Chuck & Marcia Forcey and crew served
fresh roasted sweet corn to our guests
Philippe Joseph and his hard working
crew stayed busy all day grilling ribs,
chicken and sausage
The food was enjoyed by those sitting in the St. Timothy Center camp building, out on the
veranda or sitting under the huge white tent listening to the happy strains of Irish Music.
Entertainment was provided by the Ploughboys from Chicago, Kennedy’s Kitchen, The Doolin Clan
– Kevin Doolin and his daughter Colleen Doolin-Lustina, and New Element who closed the event
in their own great Irish style. Of course our own Sharing Meadows Villagers performed as well to
thunderous applause!
It was a great family day as the Moonwalk kept the children busy and the hay wagons were
full the entire day giving our guests a tour of Sharing Meadows and assisting in the hunt. Only a
certain few were successful in their hunt to find the elusive leprechauns, but ALL who came had a
wonderful time while helping out a truly worth cause. A special thanks to all those volunteers who
came out with there own tickets but worked the hunt as well. We could not have this successful and
important fundraising event without you. The Leprechaun Hunt© gets better each year and we are
already looking forward to another special day next August 3rd!
