A Winning Team:
Business development through networking and know-how
help Cape Fox secure lucrative contracts
Cape Fox Business Development Center of Excellence (BDCX) has been
instrumental in securing $112,000,000 of contracts/task orders over the
past year through expert proposal preparation and marketing.
According to Joseph Hunt, Vice President of Business Development
at Cape Fox Shared Services, “Strategic partnerships and focused
networking have resulted in the acquisition of significant new contracts
with multiple federal agencies.
“We have been methodically and strategically aligning ourselves with our
teammates and our prime contractors. These relationships are paying off
by bringing Cape Fox subsidiaries more work.”
Cape Fox Federal Integrators
Cape Fox Federal Integrators (CFFI) has recently won significant federal
government contracts in a number of focus areas slated for growth in the
next several years. Since December 2011, CFFI’s inception into the 8(a)
program, the subsidiary has grown from one employee to 40 by targeting
opportunities to expand existing contracts and penetrate new markets.
Ride and Drive to Stay Alive
Among new contracts secured is a $2 million, one-year contract with
the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps to provide motorcycle training in
California, expanding CFFI operations to the west coast.

BDCX has been instrumental in
populating and building business
development pipelines for Cape Fox
subsidiaries, targeting and capturing
new opportunities using our 8 prong
approach. We have been focused on
building relationships and team members
to target new business opportunities and
increase our probability of win (PWin). In
the last six months BDCX has submitted
over $300 million in proposals to procure
new business. BDCX has also put in a
significant amount of effort in building
relationships with subcontractors. In
result of this effort CFPS created 50 new
jobs that we are in process of staffing
today. These efforts include support to
the Army Material Command, CECOM

TOTEM TIMES Message
I started my career as a Cape Fox Dancer performing on the
docks for visitors arriving in Ketchikan. Growing up in the
company, I learned that hard work is recognized and rewarded.
My reward for hard work over the years allowed me the
opportunity to become a leader in Saxman and manager of
Cape Fox Tours.
Given the opportunity to give back more to Cape Fox
Corporation and Saxman I chose to leave Cape Fox Tours to
take a shareholder development position. My journey began in
2005, in Huntsville, Alabama working at building various cables
and harnesses. I also escorted machine
parts on base manufactured for the
reinforcement of the Joint Assault Bridge
and Assault Breacher Vehicles (JAB/
ABV) mission requirements. These parts
were manufactured to better insulate the
ABVs our troops travelled in from the
devastating effects of the Improvised
Explosive Device, (IED).
Next, I relocated to Manassas, Virginia
for the position of Business Development Technician at the
Business Development Center of Excellence (BDCX) within
Cape Fox Shared Services. Since my arrival I have participated
in Capture Management, Task Order Management, and overall
business development projects.
Over the years of watching Cape Fox Corporation grow as a
federal contractor, I always knew the corporation was missing
a component and that missing component was BDCX. My
participation in the development of BDCX has allowed me
to see firsthand the value of having a centralized business
development group. At this time all business development
processes have been standardized and all our 8(a) companies
are now in sync for marketing purposes. The BDCX
transformation has ensured reduced costs through elimination
of redundancy while using consistent best practices . The
reductions, standardization, and best practices changes alone
ensure that the best proposal goes out the door to our potential
customers.
In closing, my dedication, hard work, and sacrifice have allowed
me to share my experiences not with just any company but the
company of our people. As a shareholder I am proud of the
recent development of BDCX, and as an employee I am excited
to be a part of an extended family that is driven by the best
interests of the shareholder body to provide for generations
to come.
Definite
Opportunity
In our continuing efforts to improve operations, the
CFC Business Development Center of Excellence
(BDCX) has assigned Albert White the responsibility of
IDIQ Manager.
IDIQ is the government contracting acronym for
“Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity” contracts.
These contracts are usually created to serve multiple
customers over large geographical areas. They generally
have large dollar ceilings and are awarded to several
companies to meet the customer’s diverse needs.
Under an IDIQ, when the government has a specific
real time need, a Task Order (TO) or Delivery Order
(DO) is issued and a request for proposal is sent out to
those contractors who have won positions on the IDIQ.
Contractors then submit their bids to win the TO or
DO.
Cape Fox Federal Contracts Group currently has a
position on six IDIQ contracts with dollar ceilings
in excess of $28 billon and is pursuing six more
opportunities totaling over $8 billion.
As IDIQ Manager, Mr. White’s job is to track all of the
TOs and DOs that come out of these IDIQs and assign
the best team within the CFC subsidiary and BDCX to
prepare and submit a winning bid.
Bernie Green, Senior Vice President for Business
Development says, “It can be a monumental task
keeping track of all of the opportunities, the personnel
responsible for putting together the bid and making
sure a quality product goes out to the Customer on
time. Albert has really stepped up and organized that
part of our business. He is integral to the success of the
BDCX Team.”

global operational support of Battle Command Brigade
and Below (FBCB2) / Blue Force Tracking to provide
leading edge support to C4ISR systems. These services
will give us a presence in Ft. Hood Texas and will expand
to OCNUS support in Afghanistan, and other OCONUS
sites as directed. Recently, CFPS developed and fielded a
new motorcycle training “On Street Program” to expand our
existing $55 million footprint with the US Navy/Marines.
The On-Street Experience a one-day opportunity to learn
tips and techniques from an experienced motorcycle riding
mentor. Riders of all skill levels are welcome and are not
limited to any type or brand of motorcycle. The On-Street
Experience provides the student with:
· Improved skillsets in negotiating urban, residential,
and rural roads
· Added confidence on their bike
· Improved cornering technique
· Traffic management tips
The On-Street Experience is unique amongst on-the-road
training courses in that the training is an interactive 2-way
discussion between the students and mentor so as to
provide on-going real-time feedback on decision making,
riding techniques, and risk assessment in various conditions.
Course Description
The On-Street Experience is designed to be an interactive
learning opportunity for motorcycle riders to learn tips and
technique from an experienced motorcycle riding mentor.
The use of state-of-the-art communications technology
creates a “Rolling Classroom” allowing participants to share
in live commentary on risk awareness, risk reduction and
riding technique. Through the use of four to five preselected
routes the mentor will help students feel comfortable riding
their motorcycle, confident in different road and traffic
situations and capable in cornering situations. Ultimately
the experience increases the enjoyment of motorcycling.

The On-Street Experience participants will possess
varying ranges of experience. The On-Street Experience
is designed to help both the beginning and experienced
riders recognize and avoid road hazards in a variety of
environments while building student comfort and ability.
The Mentor is responsible for ensuring the experience is
conducted according to each students needs within the
limits of safety.
The On-Street Experience is designed to run for 6 to 8
hours. The schedule allows for extra time to address
the needs of all students, while acknowledging that an
experienced class may not need the full time for the OnStreet Experience. Mentors will determine when and where
extra time should be spent based on the needs of the
group.
In order to provide the best experience and provide a high
level of safety for all participants the Student to Mentor
ratio is 3 to 1. This ratio allows a more intimate session.
Furthermore smaller groups are able to navigate routes with
fewer chances to be split up or lose line of sight.

To date, more than 1.5 million U.S. Army soldiers and civilians
have been trained through this instruction program. Led
by professional trainers, the program has provided fullscale training in safe driving of motorcycles and privately

Focused on reducing deaths and injuries resulting from traffic
and recreational accidents, this expert training fulfills the
Department of Defense’s priority of preserving the combat
power of these important military branches. State-of-the-art
simulators and hands-on support technology supplement
classroom instruction, resulting in demonstrated effectiveness in
reducing accident rates.

the U.S. Agency for International Development to assist that
agency in it’s mission to offer humanitarian relief and economic

NAVAR, Inc.
NAVAR Wins Air Force Construction Project

supplies products and services directly to government agencies,
contractors and commercial entities, won a $7 million contract
to renovate student dormitories at Lackland Air Force Base in

Washington Headquarter Services/Pentagon. Through July 2013,
NAVAR will provide administrative support for Pentagon front
office administration and daily operations, including personnel
management, telecommunications systems and information

Past performance and strong customer references were key
factors in Cape Fox subsidiaries securing these major contracts.
Says NAVAR President and CEO Charles Johnson, “The strength
of our teams, the quality of our work and the ability of Cape Fox
to integrate project management with our partners creates a high
level of trust with our government counterparts. Building on
this foundation, we are able to successfully compete and develop
significant new business.”
