Instead it was an information session in which every person at the meeting had the opportunity to speak. Our guest speaker Archie McClarty gave a report on the summer work done on the streams for the brown trout. Data Logers were used in measuring the temperature of the waters. A study on Kolb Creek was done and 4500 fries from our hatchery were released into this stream back in July. We need to know how they are doing. A full report will be done by June 2014 regarding our Trillium Grant. Archie was asked many interesting questions after his talk. Bruce Hill spoke about the Lions Way pedestrian bridge over Whitemans Creek at the Burford Lions Art Cadman Park. The Lions Club worked diligently over the past few years for this event to happen. A plaque was given to the Brant Rod and Gun Club in recognition for the cooperation and support between our two clubs. MaryAnn Smith about the OFAH tickets. Our club will get $6.00 for each book sold. Our members will be receiving books in the mail to sell. Also we will have a booth at the Lynden Park Mall January 21-25, 2014. We will need volunteers to help with this. A schedule will be drawn up for the times that help will be needed. Approximately $1500. was raised for our club by having the booth in past years. Doris Myke spoke on the Eco Conference coming up on March 8, 2014. Our committee will be having a meeting on November 20 to get the ball rolling for this. Our Liver Lovers night profit was $731.10. Jim Brown raised concerns about the gravel pit. Turtles were found in the pot areas. Turtles are protected which may have bearings on the OMB hearings. Doug Garvey was very pleased on how well the bar has been doing. The past 2 months have been over $13,000. The draws are going very well. Kathy Moore spoke on the up coming quarterly Zone J meeting being held on January 12 at the BRGC and about conservation awards available to anyone involved in conservation. The OFAH Youth Camp- out will be at our club on Fathers Day in June 2014. Lots of help will be needed. Chairman's Report November 18, 2013 Business arising There will be a New Years Eve Party to be held upstairs. The cost will be $10.00. Buffet Lunch Rob Brown is now doing the Web site. Bar report – Doug Garvey – The months of September and October both had very good bar sales. 216 Wings & fries dinners were served on November 16. Next wing night will be January 18 and every 3rd Saturday in February, March and April. The meat stick draws and bars sales has helped our profit. Bursary & Constitution – Bruce Hill – No report Campground – Melanie & Melissa – 2 members have not paid for grass cutting around their trailers. Conservation – Stan Jaques - We are waiting for the ground to freeze up to cut trees. Entertainment – Jessica Robertson - We will be having a Christmas Party on December 21 following the meat shoot. Please bring something for a pot luck dinner. A New Years Party will be held upstairs. The cost is $10. A buffet will be served. Hatchery – Jim Brown – 10,000 eggs will be arriving. This is a smaller amount than usual. They will be released into smaller streams. A study of Kolb Creek where some of our fish were released last July will be done to see how well they are doing. Maintenance – Bill & Chris – Water and hydro has been turned off in the park . The fire extinguishers have been checked. Much work has been done on the new trap building. The washrooms have new paper towel and soap dispensers They were donated and installed free by Marty Cookney and Ken Gilchrist.. Membership – Michele Schelhas - We have 260 members. 3 new applications going to the board. Nevada – Gail Garvey – We have $4,188.75 at this time. - Written report. Newsletter – Doris Myke – I would like to have all articles in by November 23. The Liver Lover Dinner had a profit of $731.10. The Craft Show report will be ready for the December meeting. Rentals- Brian Loder – We should raise the price to $350.00 .Brian Loder made recommended motion to the board to raise the rentals to $350.00 2nd by Bruce Hill – Carried. Bar tenders fees were discussed Sick and Visiting – Mary Ann Smith - Doug Webb is very ill and in theBrantford General Hospital. A name plate will be placed on our Memorial Forest plaque for Jack Stevens. Our sincere sympathy to Doug and Glenna Williams with the passing of their son Gary on November 2, 2013 Condolences to Al and Vi Palanio . With the passing of their son Joey on November 13, 2013 Sports – Earl Jaques – Earl's team the BRGC Bullets have not lost a game so far this year. Jody 's team the BRGC Arrows are having fun and are winning and loosing. Red's team -BRGC Moonlighters Sunday night darts are doing well. Trap – Aubrey Dinsmore – October did well. The youth shooting has paused for the time being. A total of $1565 was brought in for a profit of $462. Bill, Tom and Doug have been doing a fine job on the new trap building. December 21 is the next meat shoot. There may be a shoot on boxing day, this depends on the number of shooters interested. The Presidents Ball is March 29, 2014. The Hunters Banquet will be March 22 or April 5. Website- Michele Schelhas – no report. Rob Brown will take over the website We will continue to work with the Burford Lion's Club on the trail from Maple Ave. to the BRGC. Our club was given a certificate of recognition for the support we have shown towards the installing of the Lions Way Bridge. Bursary Award 2013 Each year the Brant Rod and Gun Club offers two(2) $1000. awards for post secondary students attending a college or university full time and enrolled in a program of forestry management, biology and area of contemporary or environmental studies. Successful candidates must have graduated from a Brant County Secondary School or are in an immediate family (child or grandchild) of a Brant Rod and Gun Club member. Liver Lover Dinner We served 111 adults and 2 children at our liver dinner for a profit of $731.10. Thanks to very much to the following volunteers Laura MacDonald for her skills in cooking the liver and to Rick(Fly)Brown for his dedicated help. He and Laura work so well together. Laura Crowthers for making the meat loaves. Marg Gilchrist for selling tickets. Thanks to MaryAnn Smith, Vickie DeRouville and Bruce Hill for their dedicated help in serving and with the clean up. Thanks to Maddison McConnell and Mariah Broomfield with their help in preparing food, serving up and doing dishes. Craft and Bake Sale We did very well on our craft and bake sale. We will have a profit of over $800. Money still has to come in from the cabbage rolls. There some for sale at the bar for $7.00 for 6. Again I have to thank Tom, Gail, Jacob Nowlan, Jim Laidman, Karri-Lyn Pender for all their help in the kitchen. Gail made the delicious beef barley soup. Thanks to Bruce Hill and Jim Hehn for taking admissions and Diane and Rick Sage for selling draw tickets. Thanks to Jan Tisdale and her aunt Verna Swayze for tending to the bake table.
