Stars, Stripes and Saddles: A Week Long Day Camp!
July 15 through 19, 2013 from 9:00 a.m.—3:00 p.m. @ 809 Sandwich Rd., East Falmouth, MA 02536
Application Deadline: SAT 01 JUN (Ages 10 –13)
Smithfield Farms and Operation Military Kids (OMK) are partnering up to offer a week long day camp to youth
who are experiencing the deployment of a loved one. In addition to the typical horse camp experience, special
programming focused on being part of a military family in a safe and caring environment.
Tentative activities: *Working with your horse (learning proper techniques for ground work),
*Grooming and tacking up, * Formal scheduled lesson, * Untacking horses and cooling them
off, * Cleaning and prepping a stall, * OMK related component, * Lunch, * Miniature Horse
Time, * OMK related art/music activity, *Games on horseback, and * Trail Riding.
Offered to military children ages 10 to 13 years old. Consideration will first be given to
youth currently experiencing a deployment or in the deployment cycle. To register contact

B.A.T.T.L.E.M.I.N.D. : A Seminar for Police, Fire, First Responders,
Medical Professionals, Veterans, their Families and the Community

The military mindset of a soldier is not easily understood by family members or
civilian counterparts. Awareness of the reintegration process can assist the
service member in the transition from "soldier to civilian".
Presenter, Kevin Lambert, is the Director of Special Programs for the
Massachusetts Dept. of Veterans Services. B.A.T.T.L.E.M.I.N.D will
focus on a better understanding of the psychological and social stressors endured by service members during their deployment and upon
returning home. This information will aid family members, as well as
the community, in better assisting them with the transition process.
The seminar is open to the public and free of charge. Registration is not necessary but to ensure a copy of

This exclusive hiring fair is open ONLY to active duty military, veterans, members of the
National Guard and reserve components, and military spouses. There is no cost to attend.
Job Seeker who pre-register for this event will be issued a complimentary game tickets for the evening match-up
between the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians. When checking in for this event, you will be given your
admission ticket. While you are an honored guest at this sporting event, acceptance of this ticket means that you
accept all of the terms of attendance at the game in accordance of the rules of Fenway Park. If attendance exceeds expectations, ticket availability cannot be guaranteed , so register early!
Job-seeker registration and service verification will begin starting at 9:30 a.m. in advance of admission to the hiring fair. The hiring fair will run from 10:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. Please plan accordingly - you will NOT be able to

Home Base Program Care Packages
Do you know of a military service member currently deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq or Kuwait? Email ajenkins4@partners.org with their
name and APO address by April 29 and Home Base Program will
send them a care package! The care packages will be assembling these
during the Run-Walk to Home Base at Fenway Park on May 4. Note:
individual should be deployed at least until June 1.

USCG Run to Remember (R2R) Cape Cod
SAT 18 MAY @ 10 a.m. at the Cape Cod Canal
Join in to remember the fallen Coast Guard men and women and honor their memory.
CG Remember: Cape Cod will be a gathering where we will come together to run 4.0
miles along the Cape Cod Canal. The run will begin at the east end of the bikeway on
the south side of the canal near the Coast Guard Station. If you plan on attending be
sure to click "Join" on their Facebook page and let them know! The event is open to ALL including active members, reservists, auxilarists, families, and friends. A suggested donation of $10 is recommended. Visit

You are invited to attend the upcoming Living in the New Normal: Helping Children Thrive in Good and Challenging Times. This is offered by The Military Child Education Coalition, a nonprofit organization addressing
the educational needs of children in military families, and it is conducting this training for Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care Providers
Learning Outcomes: * To acquire a basic knowledge of the elements of resilience and its application to militaryconnected children; * To identify and apply resilience-building skills to prepare children for good and challenging times; and * To identify tools and resources to foster resilience in children
Credit Option: Participants may apply for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit up to 1.2 CEU (12 hours =
1.2 CEU) upon completion of training. Completion requirements are: * Attendance at 95% of the training ; * A
score of 80% or higher on an end-of-course assessment; and * Completion of an end-of-course evaluation . The
fee for the CEU credit is $25.00, payable upon completion of training.

Army National Guard (ARNG) Family Assistance Center (FAC) Specialist
Locations: Camp Edwards (Bourne), MA and Wellesley, MA (mobile) Availability: Currently Open
Salary: $41,600 - $44,000 Annual

Military Personnel Services Corporation (MPSC) is seeking qualified individuals to serve as a Family Assistance Center
(FAC) Specialist for the National Guard. All FAC staff provide family assistance for deployed service members and their
families; serve as the liaison between the chain of command and the chain of concern; and provide assistance to families in
preparing for and coping with all aspects of mobilization. FAC Specialist work closely with the State Family Program Director (SFPD) to ensure Family Assistance services are delivered in accordance with the SOW and the state vision. Note: The
Wellesley FAC position will be mobile and serve assist other FACs with events in addition to locating and documenting
Community Resources throughout the state.
Major responsibilities include (not all inclusive)
· Provide information, assistance, referral, and follow-up services to Servicemembers, Families and Survivors from all
branches of service and components regarding pay/financial issues, military medical benefits, legal issues, ID Cards/
DEERS enrollment, and a wide variety of other Family related issues. Assistance shall be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week and follow-up shall occur within 72 hours of initial contact. All cases shall be documented in the Guard Family Management System (GFMS).
· Coordinate financial assistance from military, governmental and civilian organizations as needed to assist Service Members, Family members and Survivors experiencing financial hardships. This includes referral to appropriate offices, agencies and organizations.
· Develop and maintain a directory of resources, agencies and organizations that are available to assist Service Members,
military Families and Survivors. Additionally, keep abreast of research and policy/legislative changes impacting Service
Members, Family members and Survivors.
· Provide advice and guidance to Family Readiness Groups (FRG’s) as required by the SFPD. They shall assist the FRG
in gathering, collating, maintaining and disseminating information and resources to Families.
Qualifications –
· Broad based knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of military personnel, human resources, and Family programs as well as an understanding of the ARNG. The contract employee must demonstrate a working knowledge of military well-being programs, Family programs, and the deployment support cycle requirements.
· A self-starter and require minimum oversight.
· Computer literate and proficient in preparing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents.
· Ability to gather information, make recommendations for program improvement, synthesize information, and provide
communication (orally and written) to disseminate information throughout the organization.
· Ability to develop PowerPoint briefings as directed.
· Have a current and valid driver’s license, ability to pass background investigations, with a minimum NACI clearance.

If you are contacted by an individual or company that is requesting to communicate with you through a suspicious communication method, do not communicate with these individuals. If the individual or company has
communicated with you through a suspicious email, do not click on any links in the
email, and do not provide any personal information to the individual. If you have
received a suspicious email, phone call, text, or fax, please report these activities to
the VetSuccess.gov team at vetsuccesstech.vbavaco@va.gov.; if you suspect that you
