THE ARTIST & HIS WORK
Adithio Noviello is a young and accomplished ItalianIndonesian photographer and filmmaker. He spent two
years working with Bali Animal Welfare Association,
recording BAWA’s work, the animals of Bali and the
many threats to their safety, health and survival.
Adithio is an animal welfare activist with an enduring
love for the Bali heritage dog which tragically faces
many threats to
its survival.
In Bali Adithio photographed his black and white collection
named Me and My Bali Dog. The Limited Edition Signed
photographs capture the innate relationship between
the Balinese people and the Bali dog and show traditional
scenes not accessible to most.
From London where he went to study for his Masters
Degree in 2014, Adithio returned to Bali to work with
BAWA to produce A Thousand Temples, A Thousand Dogs.
The film shows some of BAWA’s work, with the
International Fund for Animal Welfare, to rejuvenate
mutual respect between the Balinese and the island’s
indigenous dog. It looks at some of the many threats to the
Bali dog’s survival including the hideous trade in dog meat.
The film strikes at the core of the many opposing forces
that influence animal welfare standards in Bali and which
challenge those working to protect the island’s animals.
It is a brave, insightful production and is not for the
faint-hearted.
