SXMusic Festival Begins !
The 1st SXMusic Festival dedicated to electro
music will take place from March 9 - 13 th
on both sides of the island.
For the first Electro Music Festival in the Caribbean, the
world's best DJS will be present on SXM among which JAMIE
JONES, DUBFIRE, GUY GERBER, MACEO PLEX, YOKoO,
JESSE ZOTTI AND GAB RHOME.
From Tuesday, sessions will take place from noon to
midnight at Palm Beach in Orient Bay. The party will
continue on the Dutch Side at Tantra Club, Sky Beach in Maho
and Le Shore Club in Simpson Bay.
With the support of the Office de Tourisme de St Martin, the DJ
and producer JULIAN ARBIA from Québèc counts on attracting
crowds from all over the world !
"The festival goers will take part in an event in constant evolution,
dynamic, that will enhance the unique beauty of the island. We
have an international team at the head of our scenography and
an extremely experienced background production in the
organization of such events" he says.
SPECIAL SHUTTLES will insure the link between both sides of
the island and SXM residents are given a special discount
price on tickets : € 180 instead of € 300 or € 55 (75 € for non
residents) for 1-DAY Passes.

Last Friday, in one of the fastest races for
many years, a huge armada of different sailing
boats provided an awe-inspiring view around
SXM’s spectacular coastline. 193 yachts competed
in the 26 mile circumnavigation
of the island which set off from
Simpson Bay. Multihull & monohull records for the Round St.
Maarten Race were broken by
Lloyd Thornburg’s Phaedo3
(USA) in 1 hour 19 minutes
and 59 seconds sailing at a top
speed of 37 knots and passing
190 boats on their way! Peter Harrison’s TP52,
Sorcha (Great Britain), completed the race in
just over 2 and a half hours and was declared the
overall winner ! The final Sunday, Caribbean
sunshine and 12 knots of warm south-easterly
breeze greeted the 193 teams taking part. Just
one race was scheduled in each class with all
competitors enjoying superb conditions on the
leeward coast of SXM. Every class was hanging in
the balance and Super Sunday produced some of
the closest racing in the long history of the regatta.

Sunset Mini Triple Triathlon
Challenge yourself this Sunday March 13th 2016 with
the Annual Mini Triple Triathlon ! All levels welcome!
Event consists in 3 short triathlons (7, 8 + 9 AM).
Choose to participate in only 1, 2 or all 3. A 250 m
swim course, a 8.5 km bike ride and a 2 km run also
take place ! Registrations from March 7
to 12th at Tri Sport Shops in Simpson
Bay or Marigot.
Fee = $15 WITH a big breakfast ;)
The Wrong Car
Exhausted from juggling three jobs, I stumble out of bed, drink a
cup of tea in robot mode and head out early to work again. Driving to meet a client I can’t even remember what day it is. With
envious glares I see tourists, either sunburnt or white, most
sporting sun visors (I hate sun visors) and smiling on their holiday. In a droggy state I remind myself which side of the road I’m
supposed to drive on (the right !) After putting on an energetic
show to my client, I revert to a tired and weary demeanour and
cross the car park to my little red car. Walking to the passenger
side door I realise my mistake and go to put the key in the correct door on the driver's side. It doesn’t fit ! I don’t understand
! But this is my car ! Confusion sets in, have I broken the key?
I keep trying without success. I don’t know what’s happening
! I look up in desperation only to see my little car 30 METRES
AWAY. Sheepishly I trundle over to it, feeling stupid but lucky
that no one saw my error. As I climb into MY car I glaze over to
the WRONG car. I wasn’t even close. It wasn’t the same make,
shape, or even size. The only similarity was
the colour ! I need sleep…
