About Architect-US Global Career Program
Conceived as a liaison between global talents and U.S. based companies, Architect-US is a
professional career training program that sponsors highly qualified international architects and
engineers, to pursue an internship (students and recent graduates) or training program (young
professionals) as part of the U.S. Government’s J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.

In Architect-US Professional Career Training Program we are devoted
to facilitate professional exchange, encourage global dialogues and
promote cross-pollination among Architects, Engineers and
Designers from all over the world.
The Architect-US Professional Career Training Program facilitates the J-1 Visa arrangements and
health insurance of exchange visitors, providing structured on-the-job training to the most
talented and up-and-coming Building Industry Internationals. The goal of the program is to match
the most promising global talents and arrange intern/trainee placements with companies in the
U.S. (for up to 18 months) while promoting the value of cross-cultural exchange.
Architect-US will work with Host Companies either facilitating the visa arrangements to
international candidates already selected by them or, will work closely with the Host Company to
find the right match that most accurately fit the company requirements, conducting a thorough
selection process based on academic background, work experience and graphic portfolio.

How much it cost
How to be part of it
Architect-US Professional Career Training Program is a virtually free service to employers.
Employers pay no program, visa, or placement fees to participate in our Program, since
candidates are sponsored by the Program through an US Government official designated J-1
Sponsor. For interns employers will pay a compensation stipend equal to or more than the
minimum or prevailing wage in their areas. For trainees employers will pay a salary
commensurate with their experience level.
The Architect-US Professional Career Training Program is overseen by the U.S. Department of
State as part of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. To qualify for this program and be eligible to
host international participants, host employers must meet all of the following requirements:

- Workers Compensation Insurance
- 7 full time employees per 1 intern ratio for host companies hosting more than 1 intern/
trainee
- Site Visit is mandatory for companies with less than 25 employees or less than $3 million
in annual revenues if they have never before participated in our program.
- Direct supervisor listed on DS-7002 Training/Internship Placement Plan must be on-site
(not remote)
- English must be primary language spoken in office & Business website must be in English
To participate in Architect-US Career Training USA J-1 Program, your organization must be able
to provide a structured, practical training experience, understanding that this is not a work
program but a cultural exchange opportunity for both the employees of host companies as
well as the Interns/Trainees.
Furthermore, it is not necessary for Host Companies to offer participants health insurance, as all
J-1 Exchange Visitor Program participants have Accident and Sickness insurance that meets U.S.
State Department requirements for the length of their stay in the U.S.
Nevertheless, J-1 Exchange Visitor Program participants under no circumstances are permitted to
seek additional employment while in the U.S. Working anywhere else besides your organization is
strictly prohibited and is a very serious violation of the terms of the visa to the extent of program
termination and not allowance to return to the U.S. in the future.

Owing to no other source of income, Architect-US will only accept paid internships and training
positions with a compensation stipend listed on the Training Placement Plan (DS-7002) as follows:

· Skype/Video Conference Interviews (no commitment of hiring even after interview)
STEP 3
· Completion of the DS-7002 Training Placement Plan
· Submission of Workers Compensation Policy and Host Company Agreement
· Review of Application by an Official J-1 Visa Sponsor
STEP 4
· Issuance of the DS-2019 Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status
· Interview at the US Embassy for passport visa stamp
· Purchase of air tickets and arrival in the US

AIA National Convention Architect-US Booth Design Competition
The Architect-US’s 1st Generation is made up of sixteen architects coming from all over the world
- Canada, Spain, France, Croatia, Argentina, Denmark and Sweden - and working in leading U.S.
based companies, both in Architecture and Engineering. We couldn’t be more delighted for having
helped these young talents to make their American Dream come true!
Aiming to raise public awareness about the Architect-US Professional Career Training Program and
the benefits of hosting international talent, Architect-US launched an international call for entries,
open to students and professionals in the field of Architecture, Design and Engineering, for the
design of the booth with which Architect-US participates in the AIA Convention.
The aim of the competition was to provide students and young professionals with the opportunity
of having a first approach to the world of exhibitions and ephemeral architecture in an
international environment, while getting their design built in PhilAIAdelphia 2016, the most
prestigious and higher international standing of the Architecture, Construction and Design
American Industry.

The Architect-US’s Program participated at the Polytechnic University Employment Convention
held on April 2016 at the Madrid Civil Engineers’ School to raise awareness of the Program and
the opportunity to train in the U.S. as part of the U.S. Government Exchange J-1 Visitor Program.
The exhibition showcased the out of necessity talent migration of six spanish studios that working
in-netowk have made headlines by winning commissions outside of Spain during the recession,
reflecting the value of talent migration and cross-exchange in Architecture today.
