Media As A Tool For Active Citizenship Our Partners: Dear Participants Following your acceptance in the Training to be held in Amman from 3rd to 9th May 2016, we are pleased to welcome you and we invite you to our beloved country and wish a pleasant stay during this training. Looking forward to see you in Amman Media As A Tool For Active Citizenship Training Our aim in this training is to open a real dialogue between youth participants from different countries and exploring their diversity how they value media and their believes in the effect of media on their lives and strengthening their capacities so that they can together develop a modern and developed media strategy and building up partnership between their organization and planning for projects supporting this strategy. Using media as a tool. Our partners are all field organizations. Each has a great legitimacy in its environment and is able to enroll participants and create a community impact. partners and trainers in this project are/or being directly linked to Euromed, Salto, EVS programs either as trainers or mentors, this will be an added value to the training and give us a better understanding of the standards, values and methodology of the training and its activities. Practices: 1. To share good practices in using media by youth in partner countries (success stories) 2. To promote role of youth in media and increase their participation (media initiatives) Media/Tool: 1. Explore the role and impact of media in everyday life of youth. 2. To provide tools for participants to realize biases/manipulation that appears in the media and its political themes 3. To identify possibilities for active citizenship and develop projects/campaigns/initiatives for use of media in the local context (women, migration, youth, labors, refugees, unemployment, education, gender, etc.) Training objectives: Competencies: 1. Develop the competences of youth to be active in the field of media 2. To raise the concept using media as a tool for enhance human rights and freedom of expression (against> discrimination/ hate speech / violence, etc.) 3. To develop creative methods to apply social media for youth as active citizens, strengthen their critical thinking skills 4. To grow the understanding of non-formal education and its applicability in media field All Participants start to arrive to the venue after 4pm on the 3rd of may The training starts on the 4th of May 2016 at 9 am attached the training agenda Cultural evening will be on the 5th of may so please bring with you: traditional clothes and/or food from your country, some cultural songs you want to share and to dance with participants All accommodation and travel illegible costs covered by Arab Women Media Center. Visa Training Location: Visa is required to enter Jordan, Europeans can get the visa upon arrival at the airport and it costs 40 JD (please you need to carry this amount with you and keep the invoice in case you get one for reimbursement). You can find it on your exit from the airport. You will also see other drivers for yellow taxi or other cars offering you a drive. You need to bargain all the time. The airport taxi is off-white color and it is written on it “airport taxi”. Ask for invoice before you get in and agree on the price in advance. Sarya Bus (Shuttle bus): it is a yellow bus, also parks in front of the airport and it departs every half an hour. The cost of the ticket will be 3:50 JD and you will pay 0.65 JOD for the luggage. Tell the driver that you want to get off at the 7th circle which is not far from Dana Plaza Hotel. Inside Amman the cost of one trip by yellow taxi is around 2-3 JD and you pay according to the reading of the meter. The bus will give you invoice/ticket, the yellow taxi will not. The name of the bus is also written on it. In Yellow taxi you will always pay according to the meter. Therefore, make sure that the meter is turned on and is working.
