Southview Scene
From the President
by Will Steinke
Over the past couple years, the majority
of the content in this column has
focused on our financial results. I plan
to keep that focus for the coming year.
The Board believes it is extremely
important to provide financial
information to our Shareholders as we
all have a part in making Southview the
best golf club in town.
A warm welcome to all the new
members; we are glad you made
Southview your golf “home” and hope
you are enjoying your experience.
Welcome back to our existing members
and thanks for your support of the club
over the years. Please continue to
promote Southview to your family and
friends.
First Quarter - 2015
We are off to a great start in many areas
in 2015:
1. The golf course is in excellent shape
2. Our membership numbers are strong
3. Our financials are extremely positive
We are continuing to invest in both
the golf course and the club house to
enhance and improve the experience
of our members. Some of these
improvements have been completed

and summer. If you have not already,
I hope you will soon be out on the golf
course.
Financial Results
After finishing last year with positive
net income for the first time in over ten
years, we are off to an even better start
in 2015. In key areas we are not only
ahead of budget, we are also ahead of
our results from 2014.
Here are some key indicators for the
First Quarter:
● Golf Dues
$17,243 ahead of budget
$16,817 ahead of Q1 last year
● Gross Profit before Expense
$72,598 ahead of budget
$92,726 ahead of Q1 last year
● Net Income
$68,656 ahead of budget
$46,250 ahead of Q1 last year
last year. This is an important area of
the club and we thank DeAnna, Julie,
Kaitlin and their staff for all their hard
work.
Housekeeping Items
● Capital Improvement Funds
A detailed summary of our
capital expenditures is presented
annually at our shareholders
meeting. A copy of last years
CIP expenditures along with the
planned expenditures for 2015
is also available to shareholders
upon request.
● Audited Financial Statements
At the March finance committee
meeting our CPA firm presented
us with our audited 2014
financial statements. A copy of
this report is available for any
shareholder upon request from
the administrative office
Let's all continue to do what we
can to make Southview the best
experience for our members. I am
confident we are doing the right
things to allow us to thrive and
prosper; thanks for being a part of
it!
There are many reasons for the success
we have seen both this year and last.
One of the areas is the improvements to
our Banquet business. DeAnna Paulette,
Julie Reick and Kaitlin Delaney have
ramped up the offering and we are
increasingly seeing more success in this
area. In March of 2015 alone, our Gross
Profit in Food & Beverage was $13,192
ahead of budget and $14,238 ahead of

In Memory
The Members and Staff of
Southview Country Club would like
to extend their heartfelt sympathies
to the family and friends of longtime member David Kleimola.
Dave will be sorely missed as he
was extremely kind, warm and
friendly and was a great member of
our club.
Southview Favorites
Poppy Seed Dressing
4 ½ cups Sugar
2 ¼ cups White Vinegar
1 ¾ TBS Coleman’s Dry Mustard
2 ¼ TBS of Kosher Salt
Dash of White Pepper
Welcome back to another wonderful
golf season! With great pleasure I
announce that we have come through
this past winter with course conditions
as good as we could ever hope for. I
hope that you have already seen the
course with the early start to this golf
season. Although it is nearly impossible
to come through a winter with the
course conditions being 100 percent
healthy, we are happy to acccept the
conditions given to us this early.
With the positive results following
the winter conditions, we have not
had to put a lot of time into turfgrass
renovation. This cooperating spring has
kept the maintenance crew extremely
busy and has allowed us to get a jump
start on many golf course projects. We
were able to help complete the snack
shack renewal, build mounding around
the 4th green, seed and sod multiple
bare soil areas, edge bunkers, aerifiy
greens, tees and fairways, and simply
detail the golf course.
Below are some fun photos of the
evolution of a different snack shack.
The winter grounds crew had a lot of
fun removing the old shed.
Shown below are just a few of the
numerous areas where we have
placed sod or have added black
soil with seed. All of these areas
are marked with either stakes or
staked with ropes. Please assist
us in these course enhancements
by not driving golf carts or pull
carts into these marked areas.
Take relief during play as “ground
under repair” until the stakes are
removed. A little TLC and patience
will help us to eliminate as many
bare soil areas as possible.
8 cups of Canola Oil
¾ cup of Pureed Yellow Onion
¾ cup of Poppy Seeds
In a stand mixer, blend sugar
and vinegar until the sugar is
dissolved. Add salt, mustard,
and pepper.
Slowly add Canola oil in a
steady stream. When dressing
has thickened, incorporate
onion and poppy seeds.
The new view from the tee on
hole 2 looking at the pond and
landscaped areas is gorgeous and
improves daily as the plants and
flowers are maturing.

Below are photos taken from Hole #2.
The Snack Shack project allowed
us an opportunity to enhance the
appeal of Southview as members
and guests enter the parking lot.
We have a much nicer tee area
on #10 and a lot more space to
allow for efficient flow of traffic
in this high volume area. Surface
paving was recently completed
and additional plantings into the
mulch area is yet to come. Also,
there has been a hand rail ordered
for the new stone steps leading
up to the tee area. If anyone is
uncomfortable using these steps
before the rail is installed, please
feel free to enter the tee at the front
where it is less steep to the cart
path.
There has been a lot of wildlife
activity on the golf course already
this spring. We have spotted a
couple of owls numerous times on
hole 8. The owls fly away from
noisy crows and perch themselves
in a tree top on the west side of
the hole near Anchor bank. Such a
beautiful creature to watch!

Shack Photos
We were excited to get an early start to
golf this year beginning on April 1st.
This April went on record for being one
of the windiest in history and we are
eager for a more mild May. We couldn’t
be happier about showcasing some of
our winter/spring projects as well as the
condition of the golf course. The snow
cover really protected the turf grass and
the quality top to bottom is excellent.
I want to recognize our maintenance
crew for their consistent work in
keeping our course in top shape!
Burgers, Blue Jeans & Brews
Please join us on Saturday, May 16th at
5:30 PM for a great cookout followed
by karaoke from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM!
Break out your favorite pair of blue
jeans and join us for a fun, casual night
of laughter and singing. We encourage
everyone to bring your friends; this
will be a night to remember at the Club.
We are expecting a huge turnout
so please RSVP to the office. We
will have drink specials in an effort to
work up some courage to participate.
Chef Steve Tuccitto and his staff will
have burgers and brats as well! Come
Hungry, Come Thirsty, and Come
for Fun!
Shack Update & Naming Contest
We are excited to showcase our brand
new shack across from the 10th tee. We
encourage our membership to take a
peek at the new layout and try some of the
food and beverage additions. Thank you
to Steve Tuccitto and Kaitlin Delaney
for adding new food and beverage
items to our much improved shack.
With these changes to the Shack comes
the opportunity for a new name for our
"shack"! The Board of Directors invites
all Southview golf members to submit
your most clever idea for naming our
brand new snack shack across from the
10th hole. The winner of the contest
will be the lucky recipient of a $50.00
Southview Gift Certificate!
Spring Kickoff Party
Thank you to all of the members who
stopped out on March 28th for our golf
season kickoff party. We had a great
turnout with over 220 people at the
event. We welcomed 11 prospective
members to the event and loved seeing
our membership out at the club!
Membership
Our membership level is fast
approaching 300 golfing members
and we have 350 social members
currently. If anyone has any leads that
are interested in learning more about
membership please contact me. I would
love to have the opportunity to reach
out to your friends, family, colleagues,
neighbors, etc. that you think might
have interest in this great club. Spots
are filling up quickly with our spring
promotion being offered. Please e-mail
or call me with information on a
prospect!
Spring Promotion - May
We are continuing to offer a Spring
promotion for the month of May to
any prospective golf members. This
promotion has a $2000 initiation fee
with $1000 of the intiation fee being
applied to member dues in the 2016
golf season. You can find further details
and a layout of our dues structure on
