Christmas Party
It was hard to believe another
year was nearly over and it was
time for our Christmas get
together. After the success of the Mid-Winter
Christmas at Des and Val’s, Des offered to do a rerun. His big garage made an
ideal gathering place for around 60 young and old Ulyssians and friends who arrived on bikes, in cars and hot-rods.
We dined on a yummy spread with plenty of meat, veg and salad and
desert of cheesecake, fruit, ice cream and Christmas
cake.
After we had eaten Santa arrived and with the help of
Des and Val’s granddaughter, Sophie, the presents
were given out from under the Christmas tree and
then the raffle was drawn.
There was also time to sing happy Birthday to Mike
Angelo, I believe he is 21 with lots of years experience.
Also part of this lovely day was the presentation of the 10,15,20 and 25 year
badges. The badges were presented by the oldest member present, Percy
Beattie.

It was another glorious day in paradise when the quiet was broken by
the roar of motorbikes arriving on their annual pilgrimage to see the
Grbin’s at the Kai Iwi Lakes.
On arrival it was off with hot helmets and gear and straight to the fridge
for a cold one.
Then the 28 Ulyssians and friends hoed into a scrumptious and plentiful
BBQ lunch of sausages, bacon and salad while Nick the Chef called for
egg orders.
Once everyone had eaten their full it was pikelet time. After consuming
a never ending supply of pikelets, jam and cream some headed to the
beach for a well needed swim in the clear blue lake water, others
paddled in the warm shallows while the less adventurous remained in the shade of the
gazebo telling tall tales.
Later in the afternoon people drifted off home after experiencing another enjoyable day with
lots of food, laughs and good company.
Thanks Mike C for reorganising the Spud Dig so this day could go ahead.
I also wish to extend a big thank you to those who got stuck into the dishes.

goodopportunitytopresenthimwithhis25yearbadge.Lefttheshowandheadednorthto
haveacuppawithBevandTrev.FromthereuptoKaitaia,downthroughtheMaungamuka
GorgetoKaikoheanddownpastTwinBridgetohaveourlastcuppaatParakaoCaféandhome
by5pm.Norainallday.

day.TheridefinishedMondayat4pm.Thiswasmy21stsafari.That’severyoneandIhave
nevermissedany.ItwasapleasantridehomeonTuesdaybutIhadhadenoughoftheTTR250
bythetimeIgothomeat4pm.
IthinkthiswillprobablybemylastsafarasIamfindingitisgettingtooexpensiveandIcan’t
reallyjustifythemoneyforthreedaysofoff-roadriding.
