This joyous tale tells the story of a group of animals, including a lion, a hen and a frog,
each of whom wants a different fruit and has to cross the savannah to satisfy their
appetite. They are joined on their quest by a hungry elephant.
This story by Rafa Ordóñez has an accumulative and repetitive structure that young
children will enjoy, and plays on rhyming words.
The wordplay is echoed in the illustrations, playing with colors and shapes representing
each animal in a unique style. Marc Taeger created the pictures using a complicated
traditional method similar to engravings, giving the book a rustic, hand-crafted appearance
with a very personal touch.

Specially aimed at children between 0-3 years old, the
main aim of this collection, according to its author, is “to
educate the eye and sharpen the ear”. These new titles
encourage children to come into contact with books in their
first years of life. The little board books help adults to follow
the recommendations of language development experts:
talking to children, naming different things, repeating sounds
and singing together.

Board Books
Following on from “Moon”, “Meow”, “Paper bird”, “Crocodile” and
“Five”, these new titles in the “From the cradle to the moon” collection
contain easy rhymes and recognizable pictures.
The illustrator –awarded with the First National Illustration Prize in
1999– proposes a natural aesthetic, with simple, recognizable pictures.
The pictures help children learn to read from left to right, and from
top to bottom, and each page is like a poem. The text, inspired by
popular children’s songs, uses rhyme, repetition, and onomatopoeia...

In the early 1930s, Kembo, a young, solitary lion, roamed
as he pleased through the jungles of Baba Kamo, in a
remote corner of East Africa.
...Milu thought that something bad had entered her home. It
was very strange to lose songs, and a handbag, and the
French bread. Even her parents sometimes got lost and
didn’t come back. But at least she had Nana, the television.
“Kembo” is the story of a very special African lion:
mischievous and impertinent, playful and peaceful, but above
all, vegetarian. His harmless misadventures come to an abrupt
end when an explorer captures him and sells him to the
Medrano Circus in Paris.
Milu represents all children who live in troubled family
situations caused by difficulties such as alcoholism,
unemployment or illness. But this story also tells us that,
despite everything, there is hope for these boys and girls,
thanks to the dedication of foster parents.

differences, is intended to help them
turn negatives into positives.
BIG EARS
Luisa Aguilar & André Neves
Amelia came into the living room
where her father was sitting
in his favourite chair, reading the paper:
“Daddy,” she said, “I’ve been thinking...”
Her father sighed. When Amelia
had been thinking,
it usually meant trouble. Amelia
continued, “Could we have a a dog?”

Paco is a poetic story about nostalgia
and friendship. The author, Paula Carballeira,
is one of the most famous story-tellers
in Galicia (Spain). The illustrations,
by Blanca Barrio, give life
to this adventurous mouse through
the use of collage.
This is a tale with scenes that follow
in a brief, nimble and repetitive way,
because this story is specially recomended
for very young children whobegin reading.
Tim Bowley uses mnemonic rules to help
children know how the story goes on.
One day, in an unnamed city in the South,
at an undefined hour, a series of events occurs
simultaneously, and although each event apparently
goes unnoticed, the consequences multiply.

Pancho, Monosabio and Perico escape
from the circus. Their long journey begins
because they wants to be free
and to return home. A tale for young
children, it explains the importance
of freedom, and animal rights.

Pancho desired, as everybody does,
something beyond his reach a simple
checkered cloth. When he finally owns it,
Pancho discovers the wealth he had lost

He’d grown so big that it was too small for him. He could hardly move...
This is a board book for first readers, about how fragile life is for newborns:
what they feel, their first impression of the surrounding world, their fears.
It’s also about the tenderness and the instinct for protection
that Arthur the chick awakens in adults.
Looking over there, I found out a very strange small animal.
It was similar to an egg: fat on top, thin below.
Its feet were overhead and the tail was long and slim...
This book will be enjoyed by children, as they’ll find out the playful function
of reading. So, turning the pages to the end and turning round the book,
the story begins again...

Ballads, lullabies, songs about children’s games…
these verses are inspired by the poetic tradition of the lands of Castile,

The author is inspired by the classic, existentialist works

The frontier between the real and the imaginary is
blurred in this book of short, experimental texts,
full of surreal, absurd and unexpected events.
The author allows his and the reader’s
imagination to take flight,

This is the surrealistic tale of a a very especial
