Sunday CLOSED Monthly payments are by bank draft withdrawal or Credit Card. (Credit Card draft option has an additional 3% added to the monthly fee) Draft Dates are on the 1st or the 15th of each month. If you wish to cancel your membership, a stop bank draft form must be filled out and submitted by the (1st) first of the month for the 15th draft or the (15th) fifteen of the month for the 1st draft in order to stop the next month’s payment. (example: February 1st for February 15th draft or February 15th for March 1st draft) Membership rates and class fees are subject to change. Individuals are responsible for their own medical costs arising from injuries while participating in YMCA activities. Program Refunds Program fees are refundable only in the form of a system credit if the YMCA cancels the class. System credits are given for doctor substantiated reasons and then only for the portion of the fees unused after written notification. No refunds or credits will be given for classes or sessions not held due to “acts of God” such as severe weather, power failure, fire, etc...for questions please call the Executive Director. Special Activities Program For youths 6-12 yrs. of age: Activity Coordinator will conduct age appropriate activities for above age children who are not in programs while their parents are using the facility. Activity Coordinator days and times are Monday-Thursday, 4:30-8:30 pm; Friday, 4:30–6:30 pm; Saturday, 10:00am-4:30pm. Children 3 months to 5 years of age may use Child Watch (Babysitting) up to 3 hours as long as a parent or guardian is in the facility (ex. exercising in fitness center, watching another child participate in class etc.). FAMILY/YOUTH MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED. IN ALL CASES, YOUTH MUST LEAVE THE FACILITY BY 8 PM UNLESS ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT. Supervision of Youth Members Children 11 years and under must have a parent or guardian with them in the building. The Whiting Family YMCA is a “programmed” facility, meaning the time we spend with children is scheduled. We encourage the use of our facility (Open Gym, Open Recreation) by our youth members; however, we do not provide staff supervision for these times and recommend that you enroll your child in one of our many programs if he or she plans on being at the YMCA for longer than two hours. For safety and well-being, children ages 12-17 who are left at the YMCA for the day without being enrolled in a specific program may be considered neglected. We reserve the right to contact the proper authorities. If assistance is needed for children 6 years and older, it is suggested that the three Special Needs Locker Rooms be used. Wi-Fi Wi-Fi is free and available in the Wellness/Fitness Center. YMCA Membership Cards Membership cards are issued to all members eight years of age or older upon completion of application and full payment of dues. All members eight years old and older must present their membership card when using the facility. There is a $5.00 charge for replacing cards. Our qualified staff provides a safe, clean and friendly environment to ensure both parents and children have an enjoyable time while at the Y. We have toys, games, books, puzzles, videos, and play equipment that is age appropriate for all children. Children must be no younger than three months and no older than 5 years. Parents must sign their children in and out of child watch. Parents must be in the building at all times when children are in Child Watch. Family membership is required for free Child Watch services. Children must have shoes on while in Child Watch. Diaper changing is not provided by staff. Parent will be contacted if necessary. Snacks are not allowed in Child Watch. Bottles and cups are fine. Please label all bags, bottles, cups etc. with child’s name. For youths 6-12 yrs. of age: Activity Coordinator will conduct age appropriate activities for above age children who are not in programs while their parents are using the facility. We believe that learning needs to be active. Our Whiting Preschool program provides the tools and activities for the children to experiment while promoting our four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The YMCA Preschool program is unique in that FREE swimming lessons are offered throughout the preschool program along with physical education activities in our auxiliary gymnasium. 4-5 year old class (5-day) AM Class 9-11:30am PM Class 12:30-3:00pm Days Monday-Friday Ages 4 years old (Child must turn 4 years old by August 1, and attending Kindergarten the following school year) Fees per month $100 members; $125 non-members Registration Fee $50 due at registration Please Note All monthly tuition is due by the 5th of the month. Preschool Summer Camp Children will have a balanced day of activities, learning, play time and quiet time all based around a weekly theme. Before and After School Vacation Days/ School Care Extended Care The Whiting Family YMCA offers convenient, affordable, safe and dependable childcare for working parents throughout Whiting. Before and After School -Aged Childcare is offered for children in grades K-5. Care is also offered on school vacation days for grades K-5 at the Whiting Family YMCA. In case of an emergency school closing, the YMCA facility will provide childcare for that day (when care was paid for that day). Program curriculum includes: games, arts & crafts, physical activities and homework assistance. Children must be picked up by 6:30 p.m. or incur a fine of $1 per minute after. Care with transportation is provided Monday-Friday for the following Whiting area school: Nathan Hale. AM care & bus pick-up Registered children can be dropped off to the YMCA as early as 6:30 am. School bus arrives at approx. 7:30 am. for transport to Nathan Hale. PM care & bus drop off School bus drops off students to the YMCA at approx. 3:50 pm. Child care is then provided until 6:30pm. On the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month Nathan Hale students are dropped off to YMCA at approx. 2:15pm. Childcare is provided at the Whiting Family YMCA from 6:30am-6:30pm. We offer full day (over 6 hours/ day) and half-day (less than 6 hours) fees. Children must be picked up by 6:30 p.m. or incur a fine of $1 per minute after. Kids 6-12 years old get the chance to be active and jam out their favorite music. Zumba ® Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba® choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporates fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements like leadership, respect, team work, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination and cultural awareness. Day Time Cost Wednesdays 3:00pm (small gym) Free members; $20 non-members Teen Strength Training This program is a five week orientation and introduction to weight training. The program is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 14 years. The class will cover topics on aerobic exercise, stretching and weight training as well as an overview of major muscles and their joint actions. At the end of the course, those enrolled will take a written exam. Upon passing the exam, students will receive a T-shirt which will identify them as a graduate of the program. The shirt must be worn when using the Wellness Center. Each class will be limited to six students. Mommy and Me Zumba More info coming soon! STRONG STRONG STRONG S.T.R.O.N.G What is it? A comprehensive youth fitness and nutrition program designed to empower youth to make healthful decisions. S Structure Each class is designed for 45 minutes of activity and 15 minutes of nutrition education T Training Training will include basic movement patterns i.e. squats, Lunges, Shuttle run, pushups, jump rope, burpees, and yoga moves to improve flexibility. R Responsibility Coach children in other areas of life besides fitness. Uphold the YMCA’s core values. O Organized Educate young athletes on the importance in being well prepared for the day. i.e. bringing your water bottle to secessions and a healthy snack for after a workout. N Nutrition Education Empowers children to make healthful choices for themselves. G Games Enforce basic movement patterns and enhances youths reactionary movement time by participating in games. We offer one on one instruction with our instructor Jose Lozada. You must bring your own guitar for guitar lessons. Books 1, 2, 3 & 4 come with a CD where you will learn to play chords and songs with their backing tracks. For the more advanced, the computer is utilized to learn licks with backing tracks. Specify if it is Electric, Acoustic or Bass Guitar. Ages 8 and up. Each camp will be concentrate on the basic skill of the camp. Sportsmanship, basic instruction and fun are stressed! We help build selfesteem through accomplishments, develop awareness of safety through practice of skills and instill our four core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. All of our aquatics programs are progressive, building upon basic skills and progressing towards mastery of techniques and eventually towards other aspects of aquatics with the potential for lifelong involvement in aquatics programs. Pool Rules Age Supervision Testing 0-7 Adult must be in the pool with the swimmer No testing necessary as an adult must remain in the pool. Open Swim Testing: Swim testing is one of the most efficient ways to minimize potential incidents. Swim Test: Swim 25 yards with no floatation and tread water for 15 seconds. If unable to pass the swim test, you must wear a coast guard approved life jacket we provide. NO FLOATBELTS allowed and must stay in the shallow end during open swim.
