If you join online then you’ll need to take this with you to the centre on your first visit. Students, current members of staff and community can join online at dmu.ac.uk/leisure. All others need to complete the application form and then take to the leisure centre along with payment. Application forms are available to download from our website dmu.ac.uk/leisure or can be picked up from the centre reception. All classes *family – two adults and two children Children under five swim for free Badminton court fees £12 for 45 minutes (max four players) Full court fees £30 per hour Studio hire £30 per hour Casual gym induction £30 (includes seven day gym pass) Pool hire Price available on application Missed court/class charge: £5 (any bookings cancelled within 24 hours of session will incur a charge) Prices are applicable for non-members and for members where the facility isn’t included within their membership package. 06 07 Our purpose built, state-of-the-art gym contains all brand new Technogym equipment There are four specialist areas within the gym: Cardiovascular Get your heart pumping in our cardiovascular area, which includes equipment designed to give you a complete cardio workout and boasts iPod docking stations, Freeview TV, internet access and gaming. Resistance Develop your strength and co-ordination in our resistance area. Free weights Focus on your strength training in our tailored free weights area. Ab and stretch Our ab and stretch area encompasses a fantastic range of toning equipment so you can focus on your core. You can also use the Power Plate machine, at no extra charge. PAYGYM AS YOU PALY PRICES Gym Q: What’s new in the gym? A: All our state-of-the-art Technogym equipment is brand new. Q: How old do I need to be to use the gym? A: You have to be 16 years old and over to use the gym. Q: Do I need to be a member to use the gym? A: No you can ‘pay as you go’ from £3.50 a session but everyone needs to have their personal gym induction before they can use the gym. Our expert staff can also create your own personalised training programme, tailored to your goals, using the Technogym Wellness System. All users are required to undertake an induction before using the gym. 08 09 Spinning/abs An intense 30 minutes spinning workout finished off with a 15 minutes abdominal workout. A huge range of fitness and toning classes are available in our first-class studio space, which is fully air conditioned, lit with mood lighting and benefits from the latest surround sound stereo system. Our classes are designed to suit all levels of ability and include the ever popular body blitz and old favourites such as step aerobics. Classes run daily throughout the year and the class timetable include: Aerobics A mix of high and low intensity aerobic moves designed to improve general fitness and co-ordination with floor work to strengthen your core. A complete body workout aimed at all. All over workout An effective class that combines fat burning and muscle toning exercises using various equipment to achieve all over results. Aqua aerobics A water based aerobic workout that supports your muscles and joints while you have fun! Body blitz A non-impact barbell class that delivers real results real fast. The class incorporates the use of light weights with high repetitions and is set to a motivating beat to help you stay the pace to reach your goals of a stronger, leaner body. Body conditioning A class designed to focus on all those jiggly bits. Using controlled exercises to tone and firm areas from triceps to abdominals to get you a beach-ready body in next to no time. Cardio kickbox A complete all body workout developed to combine martial arts, cardiovascular and strengthening workout, with strong emphasis on effective and safe physical execution. With its addictive energy and music, it’s a great cardio workout for all and a great way to release stress from the day. 010 Circuits A dynamic class which alternates high-intensity aerobic stations with muscle resistance stations. Aimed at improving cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone. Get your heart pumping and your body moving. No co-ordination required, suitable for all levels. Fusion Challenging your muscles in different ways to burn fat, tone muscle, build core strength and improve your agility and endurance. This class mixes and matches a range of fitness genres; cardio, weights, bands and pilates to provide a fast effective workout in one session. Legs, bums and tums This class will work the body’s most common trouble spots. Train the core and lower body for increased strength and muscle tone through free-standing exercise and floor work. Pilates A specific style of exercise which aims to improve posture, flexibility and help reduce back and neck pain. Re-balances and re-aligns your body while developing longer, leaner muscles – a great stress buster. Spin blast An intense 30 minute spinning workout for all levels of fitness. Spinning A cardiovascular workout for all levels of fitness using stationary cycles in a motivating class environment. Do away with rainy roads and enjoy the ride of your life from the comfort of indoors. CLASSES Classes Step aerobics Steppers: prepare for a class that is loaded with combinations to physically challenge and mentally stimulate you. The basic choreography allows you to work harder, think less and sweat more. Sumba A Latin American dance craze which burns calories for fun! Enjoy a social environment to move your body to Latino sounds with like-minded people. Supple strength Engage your mind as well as your muscles. Blended elements of yoga, pilates and body conditioning lead you through a challenging holistic workout. Exercises are geared towards building strength and flexibility through a focus on posture, core stability and body alignment. Tai Chi A sequence of movements seen as moving forms of yoga and meditation to help you de-stress, focus and engage your muscles through slow, co-ordinated routines. Yogafit A workout for weight loss, toning, strength, flexibility and balance. Incorporating yoga moves, this class delivers an invigorating yet vigorous workout that will burn calories whilst leaving you feeling supple and energized. Yoga-lates Half and half! A fusion of yoga and pilates moves for weight loss, toning and flexibility. Classes per session are £5 for non-members. 011 SWIMMING Swimming The six lane, 25 metre swimming pool is at the heart of the leisure centre and is open from 7am Monday to Friday and 8am at the weekends. There is a spectator area and state-of-the-art timing system for swimming meets and galas, putting us at the forefront of pool technology in Leicester. The pool will offer lane swimming, fun inflatable sessions, family fun sessions and be available to hire for kids’ parties. There will be also be seniors, women’s and mothers’ and tots sessions. A full range of Speedo swimwear and accessories is available from reception. For your safety, a qualified lifeguard is on duty at all times and the non-swimmers area is clearly marked. The wall offers experienced climber sessions, learn to climb sessions with a qualified instructor, and you can hire the space for private parties. Q: Who can use the climbing wall? A: Competent climbers can use the climbing wall for pre-booked sessions and those with no experience can learn from one of our qualified instructors at one of the group sessions. CLIMBING WALL Climbing wall Q: Is the wall available for private hire? Individual sessions will last 90 minutes and for this you must have been signed-off as a ‘competent climber’ by one of our instructors. Details of organised learn to climb sessions, led by one of our instructors are available from reception. A: Yes, it is priced from £70* per hour without an instructor and £120* per hour with an instructor. Q: What do I wear for climbing? A: Normal gym wear and trainers. Specialist climbing clothing and footwear is available but is not essential. Q: When can I use the climbing wall? A: The climbing wall will be fully operational from October 2012. *Prices are subject to confirmation 014 015 The eight court sports hall, with 800 seat capacity bleacher seating can host a huge range of activities for members and paying guests throughout the day. Booking areas are available Monday to Friday 8am–9.30pm, Saturday 8am–5.30pm and Sunday 9am–5.30pm. SPORTS HALL Sports hall Equipment hire Equipment is available to hire for any sport you wish to play (see centre for products). Items cost £1.50 per item, unless otherwise stated, and members must leave their membership card as deposit. Non-members can hire equipment also but must pay the hire fee as well as leave a returnable deposit of £5. Special events and parties Contact us to register interest and a member of the team will get back to you shortly to discuss your booking specifications. Courts can be booked by members six days in advance of play and by non-members two days in advance on payment of the appropriate external hire charge. All non-member sessions must be paid for at the point of booking. Members are allowed to book courts and classes online but will be charged the external fee rate should they not attend the booking. All court bookings are for 55 minutes.
