Nansulate® COATINGS
Home Energy Saving Solutions
What is Nansulate®
Nansulate® coatings are a patented technology by Industrial Nanotech,
Inc. that utilize a nanomaterial with an extremely low thermal conductivity
and hydrophobic nature. This material allows the coatings to effectively
inhibit heat transfer with a thin layer, while also providing other
performance benefits such as:Mold resistanceMoisture resistanceLead
encapsulationSurface protection from UV/WeatheringTemperature
reduction of hot surfacesDurability in extreme environments. Both
Nansulate® HomeProtect and Nansulate® Crystal are part of the
Nansulate® line of coatings by Industrial Nanotech, Inc. - providing
sustainable nanotechnology based products to the world since 2004.

Where to Insulate
Use only on windows/skylights that
can be ‘frosted’ in appearance.
Can be used beneath a final flooring
material, but must cure for at least 30
days prior to encasing.

Insulation of home – application was done on the
underside of the home’s roof deck (attic and ceilings).
Energy Savings achieved was 46%
reduction in cooling costs – as measured over
a 3-year period post application and compared to a
2 ½ year period prior to application.

Heating Oil Case Study
Homeowners in Connecticut were looking for an easy way to
reduce their heating bills during the cold season and make their
home more comfortable year-round.
They applied Nansulate® HomeProtect Clear Coat to the interior
walls, ceiling, and other areas of their home to provide a barrier to
the heat transfer, thus reducing the amount of energy used to heat
and cool and providing a more consistent interior temperature
year-round.

Residential Testimonial:
"My house was 12 years old when I had it painted two years ago. I had a couple of
spray coats of Nansulate applied to the roof. Results: Roof looks like new! The
coating makes the color look more vibrant. My neighbors actually thought that I
had new tiles put on, but in fact coating with Nansulate was just a fraction of the
cost of re-roofing. There is no more staining due to mold, like my neighbors’ tile,
which makes my roof a standout on the block. My total monthly energy cost is
down a minimum of 17% to maximum of 42% year over year!!! I did not expect
that much.Prior to having the coating applied, I had one section of my roof that
received little to no sun light, and it needed to be power washed with diluted
bleach once or twice a year due to heavy mildew and mold. Now there is none,
that section looks just like the rest of the roof. Nansulate exceeded my
expectations!"
Thank You,

Performance – Mold/Bacteria Resistance
Independent Testing:
Results from ASTM D 5590 & ASTM G21: Zero to minimal mold growth
All were exposed to spore-producing bacteria, including Pencillium
funiculosum, Aspergillus niger, Aureobasidium pullulans, Chaetomium
globosum, and Trichoderma virens. After four weeks, the Nansulate® coatings
exhibited zero or minimal mold growths, whereas the uncoated surfaces
showed extreme to 100 percent mold coverage.
Un-coated
Nansulate® Coated
In addition to passing the same mold resistance testing above, Nansulate®
Crystal has undergone testing that is specific to the bacteria that causes
black streaks on roofs - Gleocapsa spp.
Based on the study results, the tested coated tiles demonstrated excellent
ability to deter microbial growth and discoloration throughout the study,
which was optimized to allow accelerated growth in the 4 month study
period. (The tan/white discoloration is a byproduct of the test and does not indicate microbial
growth. The green areas indicate microbial growth.)

NANSULATE® CRYSTAL
Performance - Mold/Moisture Resistance
The (A) marked house is one that was coated with Nansulate® Crystal in April of 2010. Their roof is still looking great
today. The other home in a similar ‘on the water’ location shows how the black mold growth can make a roof look bad if
it is not protected.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
Health and Safety – Nansulate® technology was reviewed by Industrial
Health and Safety Consultants, Inc., and found to be safe for use by the
general public; it will not present any greater hazard to the user of the
product than standard latex paints in current use. Nansulate® coatings are non-toxic and low VOC
NSF Registration - Nansulate® GP coating received the NSF
Registration for Nonfood Compounds in the R-2 category, which
includes use on surfaces with the possibility of incidental food
contact.Environmental - Nansulate® coatings do not contain any
ingredients on EPA listing as Class I or Class II Ozone Depleting
Substances, or any ingredients on Global Warming Potential (GWP)
listing that are non-ozone-depleting.
