Nansulate® COATINGS Home Energy Saving Solutions What is Nansulate® Nansulate® coatings are a patented technology by Industrial Nanotech, Inc. that utilize a nanomaterial with an extremely low thermal conductivity and hydrophobic nature. This material allows the coatings to effectively inhibit heat transfer with a thin layer, while also providing other performance benefits such as:Mold resistanceMoisture resistanceLead encapsulationSurface protection from UV/WeatheringTemperature reduction of hot surfacesDurability in extreme environments. Both Nansulate® HomeProtect and Nansulate® Crystal are part of the Nansulate® line of coatings by Industrial Nanotech, Inc. - providing sustainable nanotechnology based products to the world since 2004. 2 of 31 Industrial Nanotech, Inc. Industrial Nanotech, Inc. was incorporated in 2004 and specializes in developing sustainable nanotechnology-based solutions that are easy-to-use and designed to save energy, protect assets, and reduce carbon footprints. The Nansulate® brand is a simple to use liquid insulation that significantly reduces energy costs and can be used across multiple market sectors in manufacturing facilities, homes, and buildings. Our technology helps the world save energy, protect assets, and live and work more sustainably. We are the People who Bring the Best of Science to the World's Great Companies. 3 of 31 Product Benefits Overview ‣ Energy Saving - Reduces heat loss and gain for lower energy billsResistant to growth of mold, mildew, bacteria, algae ‣ Weathering Resistance - Protects roof and exterior walls from the elements ‣ Environmentally Friendly - Low VOC (100 g/L), water-based, non-toxic, non-flammable ‣ Easily Applied - Use a standard paint sprayer, brush or roller ‣ Excellent UV resistance to reduce fading ‣ Clear Coat - Allows the beauty of the underlying surface to remain intact ‣ Can be painted over if desired ‣ Breathable - Doesn’t promote condensation or moisture build up ‣ Long-term performance and protection 5-year warranty (HomeProtect), 10-year warranty (Crystal) 4 of 31 How It works Snapshot: 5 of 31 How It works Summer Winter 3 of 31 Where to Insulate Use only on windows/skylights that can be ‘frosted’ in appearance. Can be used beneath a final flooring material, but must cure for at least 30 days prior to encasing. 7 of 31 Where to Insulate Sides of Building Envelope: Interior Walls or Exterior Walls Windows/Skylights, where applicable Top of Building Envelope: Either.... Energy Savings achieved was 46% reduction in cooling costs – as measured over a 3-year period post application and compared to a 2 ½ year period prior to application. They applied Nansulate® HomeProtect Clear Coat to the interior walls, ceiling, and other areas of their home to provide a barrier to the heat transfer, thus reducing the amount of energy used to heat and cool and providing a more consistent interior temperature year-round. 12 of 31 NANSULATE® HOMEPROTECT & ENERGY PROTECT Reduction of Thermal Bridging 13 of 31 NANSULATE® HOMEPROTECT & ENERGY PROTECT Reduction of Thermal Bridging Uncoated Coated 14 of 31 NANSULATE® HOMEPROTECT & ENERGY PROTECT Clear Satin Finish - Can Rejuvenate Certain Surfaces Coating provided a “varnished/finished” look to the wood walls and ceiling. White and radiant reflective coatings This enables the coating to reduce both help in summer, but not winter. heating costs in the winter and cooling costs in the summer. Heat always transfers to cold, so no matter what your climate or season, Nansulate® Crystal makes for a comfortable environment and lower heating and cooling costs for homes and buildings. DID YOU KNOW: That if you live as far south Nansulate® reduces heat conduction, as Atlanta, GA, you can still be losing $800/year doesn’t just reflect the sun, so it in energy costs due to the Heating Penalty helps both in summer and winter. associated with white reflective coatings. cool cool warm warm Reflecting the sun doesn’t help reduce heating bills. warm cool Reducing heat conduction from inside to outside does. warm cool Read more in our blog www.nansulate.com/nanoblog 17 of 31 NANSULATE® CRYSTAL Performance - Thermal Residential Testimonial: "My house was 12 years old when I had it painted two years ago. I had a couple of spray coats of Nansulate applied to the roof. Results: Roof looks like new! The coating makes the color look more vibrant. My neighbors actually thought that I had new tiles put on, but in fact coating with Nansulate was just a fraction of the cost of re-roofing. There is no more staining due to mold, like my neighbors’ tile, which makes my roof a standout on the block. My total monthly energy cost is down a minimum of 17% to maximum of 42% year over year!!! I did not expect that much.Prior to having the coating applied, I had one section of my roof that received little to no sun light, and it needed to be power washed with diluted bleach once or twice a year due to heavy mildew and mold. Now there is none, that section looks just like the rest of the roof. Nansulate exceeded my expectations!" Thank You, Ed Tyler, Niceville, FL 18 of 31 Performance – Mold/Bacteria Resistance Independent Testing: Results from ASTM D 5590 & ASTM G21: Zero to minimal mold growth All were exposed to spore-producing bacteria, including Pencillium funiculosum, Aspergillus niger, Aureobasidium pullulans, Chaetomium globosum, and Trichoderma virens. After four weeks, the Nansulate® coatings exhibited zero or minimal mold growths, whereas the uncoated surfaces showed extreme to 100 percent mold coverage. Un-coated Nansulate® Coated In addition to passing the same mold resistance testing above, Nansulate® Crystal has undergone testing that is specific to the bacteria that causes black streaks on roofs - Gleocapsa spp. Based on the study results, the tested coated tiles demonstrated excellent ability to deter microbial growth and discoloration throughout the study, which was optimized to allow accelerated growth in the 4 month study period. (The tan/white discoloration is a byproduct of the test and does not indicate microbial growth. The green areas indicate microbial growth.) 19 of 31 Performance - Moisture Resistance Nansulate® Coated Concrete Tile Water Beads - Doesn’t Soak In Dries Significantly Faster Uncoated Concrete Tile Water Soaks Into Surface Takes Much Longer to Dry 20 of 31 NANSULATE® CRYSTAL Performance - Mold/Moisture Resistance The (A) marked house is one that was coated with Nansulate® Crystal in April of 2010. Their roof is still looking great today. The other home in a similar ‘on the water’ location shows how the black mold growth can make a roof look bad if it is not protected. 21 of 31 Crystal Customer - Punta Gorda, Florida NANSULATE® CRYSTAL Performance - Mold/Moisture Resistance Unprotected Nansulate® Crystal Protected 22 of 31 The Benefits are Clear 23 of 31 Los Angeles, California Helps keep the granules in place.
