To the person(s) who burglarized/vandalized my cabin this last spring, I thought I
would apprise you of somethings not readily learned from the things you stole
from me. Much of what you stole can easily be pawned, granted--tools, tool box,
the powerful spotlight. Other items are not readily as noticeable in their uniqueness.
In the stolen attache case I had a baseball signed by old-time baseball players, including a cousin. My father got it for me around 1960. None of the players were bigname, but it was one of the few mementos from my father’s life. Congratulations,
thief. You won’t get near as much for it as you stole from me. There were also High
School classmate graduation pictures with inscriptions--useless to sell/pawn, but
they contained memories from h.s. a half century ago. I will not see them again,
thief.
The Mini-conga was such fun to play when my wife would play guitar and sing so
very well. But ou’ve stolen music from us as well, thief.
The WWII power isn’t that old, but rather produced by the Confederate Air Force,
commemorating the AVG’s particpation prior to the Pearl Harbor attack. You won’t
get much for it but it was a gift from my late cousin and meant a lot to me. Way to
go, theif. The plane, by the way, is a P-40, thief.
Last but not least is my USN dress jumper. The rating patch is Sonar Tech 3rd.
Class (E-4) common enough but the right shoulder bears the name of my duty station, the USS Nicholas. The Nicholas, DD449 was, when I was in the oldest commissioned destroyer in the Navy, (6-’42) a Fletcher class which was several hours
older than the Fletcher herself. She was/is the most highly decorated destroyer in
history, thief, having received citations and battle stars in three wars. She was also
the fastest tin can in the Pacific routinely reaching 37 and sometimes 38 knots in
speed runs. That jumper stayed in dry cleaning plastic in my closet at the cabin
since 1968, until you stole it, thief. It does you no good, but would instead have
gone to my grandson when he could wear it. I could tell him of many things that
jumper had been through. Now he will never see it thanks to you, thief. I know not
who you are but I fervently hope you suffer a painful, ugly demise, the sooner the
better.
